The Quilt Maker's Cat

Hi, everyone.  This is Dancer, again.

You all know how much I help my Mummy with making her quilts, don't you?

I help her with selecting the fabric:

"These pieces will be good, Mummy"

With arranging the quilt blocks:

"Yes, this arrangement is good"

With testing the comfort level:

"It's quite comfy, Mummy"
So, with all that help, you'd think Mummy would make me a quilt for my own comfy, afternoon naps, wouldn't you?

But, no!  I, the quilt maker's most helpful cat, have to settle for the cover of the cutting mat:

"My afternoon nap mat"
It was leaning against the sofa back and I had to put it down before I could lie on it.  And then, I noticed that the edge of the mat was not trimmed properly, so I tried to fix it:

"Let me trim off this edge piece"
It's not easy when one is a cat and can't use a pair of scissors or a rotary cutter to trim off the edge, but, I have sharp claws and sharp teeth!

"I'll just bite this down to size"
I don't need your help, Mummy.  I can make my own quilt, thank you very much!  Humph!

But, Dancer, you have the whole spare room bed...

Oh, yes, I do, don't I?

"OK, it's not the same as having my own quilt, but it's a good spot to have a sulk"

And then, to add insult to injury, she put that nasty flea medication stuff on me!  I don't even have fleas!  She says it's to make sure they stay off of me.  A likely story.  I don't believe a word of what she says.  But, she rewarded me for being a brave boy (I didn't try to get away or scratch her) by giving me a spoon of tuna, afterwards!  Yum!  I'm still going to bug her for more tuna when she goes to make her evening tea, though!  But, until then, I'll take a snooze on the quilt in the spare room.  Thanks for reading this, blog friends.

    1. That he is, Bushlady. I think he quite enjoys writing blog posts, now and then. :)

  2. Hahaa you are a very good writer, Dancer. I think you should ask Mummy if you could write blog posts more often. 😁

If you let Mummy put flea medication on you and be a good boy, I think she will consider making you a nice quilt.

    1. Thank you, Nil. I think I make a very good blog writer. Sometimes, I put my paw on the keyboard and type whole lines, but Mummy deletes them and accuses me of walking on her keyboard. But, just between you and me, I think she's just jealous that I am such a good writer!

Do you really think she'll make me a quilt? Maybe for my birthday, which is later this summer? I'll be 11 years old, then!

    2. Well 11 year old cats should definitely have their own quilts ... we'll try to persuade Mummy to make you one.

    3. Thank you, Eileen. I'm off to tell Mummy she should make me a quilt of my own!

    1. Thank you, Stephenie. It's one of my favorite quilts. He knows how to relax, no matter where he is. :)

  4. Oh, Dancer, you look like you are as good a helper making quilts as my cat, Lucy, used to be when I made jewelry. I definitely think you deserve a quilt of your own. And I think it's right there on the guest room bed. Enjoy!

    1. Thank you! Lucy sounds like she was a very helpful cat! Yes, I took a nap on the guest bed, this morning, but I need a quilt in the living room, too, I think.
