Summer Photo Scavenger Hunt - First Link Up

Today, June 14 is the day for the first link up for the Summer Photo Scavenger Hunt!  I had forgotten all about it, until I saw Eileen at A Bracelet of Days' post!  Ooops!

I am afraid I didn't take many photos, but here are what I was able to take:

#3.  Repetition:

Telephone/Power Poles
The repetition of telephone poles/power lines down the road

#8.  Shells:

Sea Shell Wreath

#10.  Something made of stone:

Stone Wall Between my Garden and Neighbor's Garden
#11.  Fish:

My mother's fish dishes
These were my mother's and some of the few items she decided to bring with her when we left Sri Lanka.  I love how the undersides of the small dishes have been finished to show the fish on that side, too.  They were made by a company called Shorter & Son, Ltd., Stoke on Trent, England.

#13. Two colors of the rainbow:

#15. A broken chair/bench/stool:

My Garden Bench
Those are my photos for the first link up.

  1. Well I think you have done very well. I love the shells. The poor old bench does look like it has seen better days. Perhaps something to add to your birthday list!

  2. I like your fish photo. I think shells are going to be a hard one for me. You are off to a great start for the search ... there's still lots of time for the rest of the items.

  4. I love those fish dishes ... do you still use them or are they kept for display?

You've got a good selection of photos so far, and I agree with Maggie ... the bench has seen better days!

    1. I use the dishes, occasionally; usually when I am hosting a dinner gathering and serve fish. The rest of the time, they are displayed in the china cabinet.

Yes, time for a new bench!

  5. Well done! This photo contest is such a good idea.

We are into a rainy spell and everything is so greeeeeeen! DH had me take a photo from the identical spot where I took a snow photo in winter, so we could compare the difference.

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. I like the photo hunt. It makes you really notice what's around you.

I'm sure you are enjoying seeing all the greenery, even if you might like a few sunny days for a change. I'm sure the two photos will show quite a contrast. You should take one from the same spot in the fall, too!

  6. Shorter and Son of Stoke on Trent were well known makers of novelty ceramics. How lovely that your mother had them in Sri Lanka! I wonder how she came to have them?

    1. Yes, they apparently had a whole line of these fish dishes. I suppose my mother bought them from one of the shops that carried British imports. There were a lot of it available at one time. After all, we were a British Crown Colony for 133 years, from 1815 to 1948. The country was known as Ceylon, back then. The name was changed to Sri Lanka only after it became a republic in 1972.
