Tired on Tuesday

Well, the activities of the past few days caught up with me, today.  I woke up feeling tired and with a persistent headache that didn't go away even after I took two Tylenols.  I still pushed through it and put away the dried laundry from yesterday, did two more loads of laundry, and brought in the trash cans.  The lid of the blue, recyclables bin had a piece broken off - I found it in the middle of the street, so picked it up and tried to duct tape it back.  But, I don't think my repair will last, so I will need to call for a replacement bin.

Then, I collected the mail from my mail box and discovered that neighbor T's mail had been delivered to my mail box, along with my mail.  I called and spoke with T's daughter and took the mail over.  Later, T called and I spoke with her.

Cousin P had called while I was outside, bringing the trash cans in, so I called her back and chatted with her for a bit.

For brunch, I took some leftover rice I had in the fridge from before the prayer gathering and cooked it with the half can of coconut milk leftover from the prayer gathering to make milk rice; I ate some of it with meatball curry and the rest with jaggery.

Later in the afternoon, I rested and napped on the sofa.  The nap seems to have helped as my headache was gone when I woke up!  I put away the bottles of drinks, but I didn't do much after that.  I decided not to attend the knitting group at the library, today.

I called friend A to check on her and to wish her mother a safe journey back to Sri Lanka , called aunt C to check on her and cousin N, and video chatted with my daughter.

I also looked through this week's grocery sales ads, but I don't really need anything, other than some bread.

Today, I am grateful for:
- A restful day
- My headache went away after resting
- What I was able to accomplish
- Leftovers
- Keeping in touch with family and friends

  1. I'm glad you finally "rested" by taking that nap on the couch, after powering through the morning's chores of laundry duty with your headache. Thank goodness you didn't try to continue the deep clean of the kitchen in your plan of taking it easy today.

You are doing well to use up the leftovers in your fridge. Do you still have a lot to use up, or did you manage to get some of it into the freezer?

    1. Thank you, Susan. Yes, I needed the day to rest and recover. I froze most of the leftovers, but kept a little of each item in the fridge for the week. By the time I finish them, I'll be ready for something different. :)

  2. You've been going at a pretty good pace for a while preparing and then hosting the prayer gathering. I'm not surprised that you needed a day to slow down a bit and rest. Glad you're headache went away with some sleep. Mine usually get worse. But they are migraines.

    1. Thank you, Live and Learn. Yes, I needed a day to rest. I'm grateful that the headache went away. It was more like an eye ache and sinus pressure sort of headache; maybe a tension headache more than anything else. I'm sorry you suffer from migraines; I used to get those, at one time, but not now.

  3. I've fallen behind with my blog reading again, so am having a little catch up while dinner is in the oven.
You've had a lot going on the last few days, and it's good to be busy, but make sure you rest well in between times.
I'm pleased the prayer gathering went well. X

    1. Always lovely to hear from you, Jules. Yes, not only was I tired from all the cleaning and preparations, I think I might have been a bit dehydrated, too! Keep forgetting to drink that water! I made it a point to drink plenty of water, yesterday, and must keep it up, today, too.

Hope you and Lily are enjoying your days; is she looking forward to Halloween?

    2. She is, Bless. We've already got her witches costume ready and have a cauldron of sweets for any trick or treaters. She is looking forward to handing them out. X

  4. On Tuesday I bought a sofa. :)

I just thought the other day that I should make milk rice this weekend.
I hope your Wednesday is a relaxing one. Mine is a usual day at work. :)

    1. I saw your post about the new sofa! It is a beautiful sofa and you got a good deal on it!

I hope you make milk rice this weekend. A friend of mine makes it every first of the month, but I just make it whenever I feel like it!

My morning has been busy with phone calls and scheduling appointments. But, it's more relaxed than going to work! I hope your work day is going well and you have a relaxing evening.

  5. Since this is Wednesday, I'm sure hoping you are feeling much better. It sounds like you have been super busy, as I have!

I've never had coconut milk rice before, but was raised having hot white rice covered with milk and cinnamon and sugar for Saturday night suppers, on the days we were lucky! (Us girls loved it, but Mom didn't make it very often since she preferred us to eat lots of vegetables, etc.)

    1. I did feel better, today, thank you, but I continued to take it easy and had a very relaxed, restful day.

The hot rice with milk, cinnamon, and sugar sounds quite similar! A bit like a cross between oatmeal and rice pudding!
