Still Recovering on Monday

Yesterday, Nathalie went hiking and last night, I dreamt that I went hiking!  LOL!

This morning, when I woke up, daughter was already up and working!  I had woken up when her alarm when off, but I went back to sleep (I guess I was tired from my dream hike!)  Once I woke up, I had a cup of coffee and then, checked my emails, replied to blog comments, did some sudoku, etc.

I was just thinking about getting something for breakfast when friend R called to say she was on her way to visit me and she was bringing brunch!  She brought us three different types of pancakes (two each of banana nut, cinnamon roll, and cranberry-orange) with scrambled eggs, hash browns, and bacon!    What a feast!  I forgot to take a picture, but it was all very delicious!  We ate, visited a bit, and then, daughter returned to doing her office work and friend R, who had taken the day off from her work, left to do some shopping she wanted to do.

Later in the afternoon, I made myself a salad and daughter finished up some leftovers that were in the fridge and we had a tangerine each.  After that, we had tea.

Later, did a load of laundry and daughter hung it up for me.  She also took the trash cans out to the curb, brought in the mail, and paid the phone/cable/internet bills online for me.

For dinner, I baked a frozen turkey pot pie and we shared it.

Today, I received a handmade get well card from a friend who was one of my very first supervisors at work.   I also had a phone call from one of my nieces (my half sister's daughter), asking after my health.  Later in the evening, I called Aunt C and she said cousin N is feeling better.

Around 9:15 p.m., it began to drizzle.  It is still drizzling, 30 minutes later; I hope it continues for a bit longer.  We can do with a little rain.

Today, I am grateful for:
- Another, pain-free day of recovering
- Friend R visiting and bringing brunch
- Daughter being able to work from home
- A shower of rain
- Paid sick leave

Monday's To Do List:
- Empty the dishwasher - DONE
- Handwash my tea cups - DONE
- Do a load of laundry - DONE
- Have daughter hang it up to dry - DONE
- Have daughter take the trash cans to the curb - DONE
- Do some paperwork
- Pay the phone bill - DONE

I didn't do any paperwork, today.  Maybe, tomorrow.

Tuesday's To Do List:
- Put away laundry
- Do another load of laundry
- Do the dishes
- Have daughter bring the trash cans in
- Do some paperwork

How was your Monday?  What are your plans for tomorrow?

  1. So glad the recovery continues to be pain free!
I think visitors bearing waffles might be the greatest visitors of all.
Continue to rest and heal (And enjoy time with your daughter)

    1. Thank you, Anne. The surgery site gave a twinge or two this evening, but I took a Tylenol and that was enough.

  2. Sounds like a delicious brunch. I'm sure it it the spot for your daughter, too. I bet most of her work days don't have a break like that in them. Hope the rain continued. Here where the rain is more plentiful, we're happy that today is going to be sunny. It's been raining a lot recently.

    1. Thanks, Live and Learn. It rained for a little over an hour and there was enough rain to actually wet the ground! I am very grateful to get some rain. It means I can go for another day or so before I need to water the garden! I am glad you are having a sunny day after all the rain you've had. It is sunny, here, too. Hope you have a wonderful day.

    1. Thank you, Sharon. I am taking it easy, I promise! Feel a bit like a fraud for doing so, however! :) Hope you are doing well and your mum, too.

  4. I believe dream hikes can be exhausting. 😉 It's good to read you're looking after yourself, and that you continue to be pain free. Friends who bring pancakes are friends to treasure indeed! X

    1. Oh, Jules, I work so hard in my dreams! Last night's dream had me cleaning the garage! No wonder I am so tired when I wake up! LOL. Yes, friends who bring pancake breakfasts are a blessing!

Hope you are having a fine day and Lily is enjoying herself.

  6. What a great perk that your daughter can continue to work from your house.

Your friend R knows you so well, so kind and thoughtful.

This morning I went for my five week hair cut, color and then on to the $ store to pick up a start on Easter goodies and other odds and ends cleaning products we needed. Ended up spending $36.95

    1. Sandy, definitely a blessing that daughter can work from home. :)

But, that was one of the conditions under which she accepted the job, when she was first offered the job - that she could work from home when she needed to, because she had to come down to be with me during my treatments.

Her original plan had been to come home after she graduated, so she could be with me. But then, she was offered this job and her condition of accepting the job was she'd be able to take time off or work from home as needed. If she couldn't work from home, this week, she said she would have taken her compensated time off - vacation and time accrued when she does overtime.

Hopefully, though, this is the last time she needs to work from home because of my health!

The dollar store is a good place to get Easter goodies and other items. I need to make a list of things to get from there, when I go next. Thanks for the reminder!

  7. I think your friend R. is precious. The pancakes sound delicious!

I laughed and laughed at the picture of Dancer. Now, that's one comfy cat alright! He's looking at the camera as if to ask "What do you want, now?! Can't you see I'm resting?!" LOL.

    1. R is truly a good friend. She was my daughter's Montessori teacher, at one time; that's really how we met. We've been friends for over 20 years, now. :)

Dancer is definitely the king of the castle, in this house! Spoilt rotten, too! He's napping now, on the dining table, where he isn't supposed to be!

  8. Lovely to have such a delicious brunch to eat with the friend who brought it! I'm sure you enjoyed that handmade card from another friend as well. You know how much your own cards must be appreciated by those who receive them.
Dancer is determined to show that his wonderful markings go all the way round. What a show-off! I think he knew you would photograph him.

    1. It really was a lovely brunch, Bushlady. Way too much food for me, however, but the leftovers are in the fridge for another day.

I love receiving homemade cards, almost as much as I enjoy making them. :)

Dancer is definitely a show off! :D He's going to be 10 years old, this summer!

  9. Bless,
I was reading the back posts, and then I read this one wrong at first and I though it said you actually took a hike! Then, I was confused, because you just had surgery!!! So, I re-read it, and it was just a dream:). Thank goodness, but I was thinking you must be the toughest person around. I'm glad you are recovering so well. I'll bet you really hiking, or at least walking, before long.

I'm glad you are surrounded by friends and family, and are on the uphill side of things. Take care:)

    1. LOL, Becky, I am not quite that tough! :D I would not last long on a hike on a good day, never mind after surgery! I did want to go for a walk, today, but daughter asked me not to; she wanted me to take it easy for at least one more day.
