Shelftember - Week 2

I didn't keep very good records of what I ate during the 2nd week of Shelftember.  It was a bit of a stressful week and I was worried about other things.

I don't remember what I ate on Friday (9/8) - the fridge/freezer was delivered and I must have eaten something from what I had on hand - most probably bread with something!   I had had a tooth extracted the day before, so I know I ate some jello and grapes for snacks.  Might have had a nutritional meal replacement drink, too.

Saturday (9/9) - brunch: waffle; tea: buttered bread with a banana;  dinner: rice and chicken curry.

Sunday (9/10) - brunch: a slice of bread and butter with a banana; afternoon snack: grapes and a protein drink; dinner: an egg salad sandwich.


Monday (9/11) - I think I had egg salad sandwiches for lunch; maybe fried rice for dinner


Tuesday (9/12) - Not sure what I had for lunch (maybe leftover fried rice?), but I had scrambled eggs on toast for dinner.


Wednesday (9/13) - Maybe egg salad sandwiches for lunch; cheese on toast for dinner.


Thursday (9/14) - brunch: almond croissant (purchased from "eat out" budget); snacks: grapes; dinner: roast chicken (from the freezer) and corn on the cob

Not a very good summary, at all.  But, I ate mostly from what was in the freezer and pantry, and the "permitted" groceries I had bought (bread, dairy, fresh produce).

  2. I hear you about not remembering! I have to write it down as soon as I am finished eating or I totally forget what I had.

    1. I am trying to keep better records, this week! The one thing I do know is that I haven't made a dent in what I have in the freezer! I could probably go for another month and still be fine!

  4. You did well to remember! I tried to think what I had yesterday and had to go to the fridge to see if there were any tips there, I know I wasn't hungry, think I must have had a pot of yogurt as the pack was less one!

  5. Bless, totally off topic but a quilting segment on PBS left me wondering if you'd ever considered 'art' quilting. The quilter artist Frieda Anderson used a photo of her pet to explain details of how she created a 'pieced' project. Her site is easily found by Googling her name.

    I could easily imagine a pieced quilt featuring Dancer in the center.

    1. Hon, to be quite honest, no, I haven't considered art quilts. I think because one generally has to buy fabric specifically for the project, in the colors that are needed, etc. Most of my quilts tend to be scrap quilts using fabric leftover from other projects or, occasionally, fabric I had bought because it was on sale for 75% or more, without a particular purpose in mind, just knowing it will probably use it for something or the other. Besides, art quilts are more for display; my quilts get used on beds. But art quilts are very pretty, aren't they?

  6. The only way I can remember what we ate 3 or 4 days ago is by noting it in a little diary. It helps me to avoid serving up the same thing too frequently, LOL.

    1. I don't mind eating the same thing several days in a row, so that's not a problem. I was lucky that daughter didn't mind leftovers, either; in fact, no matter what I served her, she always thanked me for her dinner, and, would often add that it was yummy! Have I mentioned that I love that girl?

    2. We do sometimes eat the same thing two days running, usually when I have been using the crock pot. I don't mind repeats, the main thing is to eat something reasonably healthy. But if it was down to DH we would have baked beans for a week!
