Warm Monday

Today has been a warm day, here, with a high of 88F.

I woke up with a bit of a headache, which eventually went away after I took a nap in the afternoon.

I went for my injection in the morning.  It took a long time due to traffic, a little over an hour and 15 minutes.  The return journey took about 45 minutes.  Came home and had a late breakfast of a tuna salad sandwich.  Then, I took a walk around the garden.

The four-o-clocks are blooming, under the lemon tree:

And by the trash cans:

Roses are blooming, too; I love these double colored ones:

Baby oranges are forming on the orange tree:

And out on the street, the jacaranda trees are flowering:

After my walk in the garden, I spent some time doing office work.  Later, I cleaned the living room and dining area.  And attended to some paperwork and paid a bill.  Lunch was a bowl of cashew curry and a tangerine.  I also made myself a glass of lemonade with a lemon from my trees.

In the afternoon, my neighbor brought over the bananas I had asked her to pick up for me.  She wouldn't accept any money from me for them, though.  Dinner was a peanut butter sandwich with banana.  I had thawed some chicken breasts, too, to have with vegetables and potato, but I didn't feel like cooking.

In the evening, I took the trash cans to the curb for trash pick up tomorrow morning.

Much later in the evening, two of my cousins paid me a quick visit.  One of them is visiting from Australia and I had been unsure if she'd have time to visit me, so I was happy to see her.

Today, I am grateful for:

- Cousins visiting
- Neighbor bringing me bananas
- A glass of fresh lemonade
- A clean and tidy living room and dining area
- Video chatting with daughter

How was your Monday?

  1. Such pretty flowers! I love jacaranda trees! The first time I saw one it was in Tampa, FL in an older neighborhood and it was huge and glorious.

I'm glad that you got to see your cousin! You seem to have family all over the place, lol. I have cousins who used to live in New Caledonia for a few years, it always sounded so exotic. One of them now lives in Madagascar. I haven't seen or talked to them since I was very little, though.

It was warmer in your neck of the woods than in ours as our high was in the low 80s. I hope you keep cool. It might be one upside of having lost your hair now, Bless.

I hope you have a pleasant Tuesday free of headaches!

    1. Thank you, Nathalie. It's going to be another warm day, they said. I don't have a/c so I tend to complain a lot about the heat!

  2. I love the double colored roses! Pretty. It was 82F here yesterday. Very hot for me, my body has never been able to tolerate heat or the sun well. I did do a lot of work out in it though, just took several breaks and forced myself to go back.

    1. They are pretty, aren't they? Be careful working outside in the heat; one can get heat-stroke. Better to work outside in the mornings and evenings when it is cooler.

  3. I was a young adult before I first saw a Jacaranda tree, but I remember my mother's magazine, (back in the 50's?) having a serial, "Under the Jacaranda Tree" (some kind of romance!) and it always sounded so exotic, which of course it is!

    1. Thank you, Carolyn. Overall, the garden is a little neglected, but I am focusing on the good bits! There's always something new in the garden, every week.

    1. Thank you, Judy. Yes, daughter is feeling better, but still a bit congested (she's got a cough, now) and tired. She'll stay up there this weekend, too, so she can rest.
