Almost a Whole Flight of Steps!

Major accomplishment on the climb, today!  I've been scheduled for surgery on Friday!

I called the clinic in the a.m. to ask if the blood work reports were faxed to surgeon's office; they were sent, I was told.  Then, I called the surgeon's office to check if they received the blood test reports.  Yes, they did, they said, and they had the X-ray reports.  The nurse said she will see if there  was an opening for surgery on Friday and call me back.  She called back an hour later, saying there was an opening and I've been scheduled for surgery this Friday!  I feel like I stepped on the escalator for the rest of that flight of steps!

I need to call the surgeon's office, tomorrow, to confirm the appointment, but that's just a protocol.

I called daughter to give her the news; she was able to book a flight (unfortunately, she has to pay full price, but that can't be helped); she'll come home tomorrow night.

I've spent the day running errands and making preparations.  I went to the bank during my morning break.  Paid the water bill and picked up my asthma inhaler from the pharmacy during my lunch break.  Then, I took the afternoon off from work and to the attorney's office to sign documents (revised last will, durable power of attorney, access to medical records, etc. so daughter has everything she'll need, if anything happens).

Stopped at the Sri Lankan store on the way back to buy a few special treats - tastes of home.

Then, went to the auto club to pay my auto insurance renewal, even though I haven't received the bill yet!  I just wanted to get that out of the way, just in case it comes in when I am not feeling quite up to par.  It's one less thing to think about.  Then, put gas to the car.  Stopped at the pet store and picked up a bucket of cat litter sand.   And finally, did a bit of grocery shopping - some beef steak and green beans to cook and keep for daughter; some whole wheat rolls, and fruits - cantaloupe, oranges, grapes, and bananas.  One of my friends prepared a plate of food for me, yesterday, and there's leftovers from that, as well.

Called and notified some family and friends of the surgery date.  Did 2 loads of laundry, including the new blouses and towels I bought (so glad I bought them when I did!)  I wanted to tidy up the family room, too, but ran short of energy.

Looking back from this vantage point, I see that the timing of the surgery worked out very well; there was enough time to attend to most of the important items on my pre-op to do list!  When the time is right, everything falls into place.

Today, I am grateful for:
- Having the surgery scheduled
- Getting all the paperwork done and in place (legal, financial, medical, etc.)
- Daughter is able to attend
- A friend has volunteered to drive daughter and me to the hospital and back
- Prayers and good wishes

How was your day, today?

  2. I don't want to get on too big a rant Bless but the lack of communication and organization in these medical offices is unacceptable. We see it here too. The right hand doesn't know what the left is doing. Sadly our largest clinic is so management heavy it leaves the people working there with their hands tied. DH was a said clinic and they wanted him to use a kiosk to check in. It gave an error and told him to check in at the desk so he went to the desk and told her what the error was and she said he had to check in at the kiosk. They are becoming robots with a script and no common sense. I walked each step with you though and will continue to do so. Frugal

    1. Frugal, thank you for walking with me. The way things are being done is needlessly aggravating, especially when one is ill or worried about one's health situation. It adds to the anxiety and stress. But, it is what it is and I guess we just have to deal with it.

  4. Bless, you must be pleased that things have moved fast now and that you have your surgery scheduled. I will be praying for you and also for little Bless. I had another thought this morning. I found myself visualizing you being helped up the mountain by two people, each holding you by the nearest arm and with their other hand, holding your hand on that same arm. (I should be drawing it!) Others, of course, were also with you. You have people of different faiths all praying for you, all willing to help you up, and God who watches over all, listening to their prayers. ((((Hugs)))) Bushlady.
