Somebody Trying To Tell Me Something?

Received a letter from Forest Lawn Mortuary in the mail, today!  Eeek!  Are they trying to tell me something?  Oh, I hope not!  LOL.

Another hot day, today.  Daytime highs were 107F.  It was 97F at 7:00 p.m.  A balmy 90F inside the house!  I put water to the front garden at 8:00 p.m. and it was starting to cool off a bit, outside.  But inside the house is still hot.

Today, I went to the office and had a fairly productive day.  Spoke with several colleagues, including one who has been through what I am going through now.  It was very helpful to talk to someone who could share her experiences with me.  She also told me about a cancer support group she attended.  I will contact them and see if that will be helpful.

I also called the doctor's office, since she didn't call me, but, I was told that she was not in the clinic today.  So, I left her a message.  Hopefully, she'll call back, tomorrow.  I will go to the clinic in person, tomorrow, to request a copy of the pathology report.  I have to go in person and sign release forms to receive a copy.

I think I'll put the bedroom a/c on and work on clearing the two drawers in my bedside table/nightstand.  After that, an early night, I think.

Today, I am grateful for:

- Colleagues who are helpful and supportive for the most part.
- Friends and family
- Seeing a glorious sunrise, this morning
- First hearing, and then seeing, a flock of parrots on my way to work
- Roses blooming even in this heat (although they are desiccated on the bush by the end of the day!)

Hope you have all had a lovely day.

  1. I cant imagine seeing a flock of parrots ... How wonderful! So nice to have a coworker to provide some insight on what you're going thru ... And the support group sounds like a great idea! Sure hope you're staying cool ... Your temps don't seem to be dropping at all. Wishing you cooler weather soon!

    1. Carolyn, it's hot and humid, too, due to some tropical storm off the coast! And the parrots - for the longest time, it was considered an urban legend, but there are flocks of parrots in and around downtown! One hears them first, before one sees them, as they are noisy!

  3. Bless, your mail item reminded me of how totally thoughtless advertisers and telemarketers can be, especially the latter. Who after a sleepless night with a baby would want to hear a chirpy "How are you today?" from someone who wants you to answer a 10 minute survey, for example?

I hope you will soon get some information from the doctor's office. One of the biggest trials most people have with health concerns is the waiting for things to happen! By the way I once watched an excellent movie called "The Doctor", William Hurt, 1991. It is humourous and sensitive as he deals with his own throat cancer and discovers the pitfalls of the medical system from a patient's viewpoint.

    Hugs, Bushlady

    1. Bushlady, the Forest Lawn mailer was a survey. At the very end, in tiny print, they have said that it was a general mail and if it arrives at a time of illness or loss, they apologize. I crossed out the survey, wrote that it was bad timing, to keep their apologies and please remove me from their list; put the whole thing back in their prepaid envelope and will mail it to them today.

  4. Hi Bless,
So sorry about the advertisement..That really stinks.. so happy you have the person to talk to .. Nothing better, than some one who as been there, and can talk with you..
Hope you get to talk to the doctor soon.. They can be so insensitive , with their prolonged timing . So sorry.
sending big ole hug and prayers for you and daughter. Know she wants to be with you, and that is very hard fro her too.
HOPE the heat will ease down real soon..We have a cool front coming in this weekend, I am looking so forward to it.

    1. Thank you, Judy. As I mentioned in my response, above, I crossed out the survey, said to keep their apologies and said "bad timing"! :D It is slightly cooler today - only 94F instead of 97F when I came home! :D We are supposed to cool down to the lower 90s, maybe upper 80s, next week.

ope you have a lovely Friday, tomorrow, and a good start to your weekend.

  5. I'm so glad there is a colleague who can share her experiences and your frustration. Use whatever helping hand that is offered, please don't be 'brave' or stubborn. It's far healthier to vent with her, here or with your Organized Friends to get it all out of your system. I liken hospital to being on a carousel with weird, painted ponies moving on different beats while going round and round with background music.

Solace is journaling and the challenge of getting answers to questions. You realize each group gives different answers to the same question [lab tech/ nurse/ physician/ surgeon/specialist{oncologist}/researcher]

I drew pictures of 1.5 cm, 2 cm, stitches or staples per inch and used bullet journal symbols for phrases like...'let's try....,' TV is terrible so I used lap top or binder pages for future project planning like 'ideal' closet, gifts/projects from stash, 5 ingredient casseroles, financial scenarios. If you have or can borrow an iPad it's ideal as you'll likely have access to high speed internet.

If your unit has a solarium it's a far pleasanter environment.
Thinking of you, sending positive vibes hoping to lift away worries
