Today, I felt a little tired from all the excitement of the past couple of days, with the stove acting up, the gas service technician's visit, having the plumbing work done, etc. I rested in bed for the most part today. But, in between resting and watching videos, I swept my bathroom, again, took a nice hot shower in my bathroom as opposed to daughter's bathroom, folded and put away the laundry from yesterday, played one song on the piano, ran the dishwasher (daughter had loaded it for me, earlier) and unloaded it afterwards, washed a few items including the electric skillet by hand, and cleaned one section of the kitchen counters.
I also called neighbor T to check on her, called friend A (not neighbor A who recommended the plumber) to find out how the appointment with her oncologist went and wished her daughter C for her birthday, spoke with aunt C and chatted with friend R.
When M came over in the early evening, I asked him if he could continue to tend to the garden twice a week in July, too. He was agreeable to that, much to my relief! I am feeling better, but, I don't know if I am quite up to taking care of the garden, yet. He picked 5 more zucchini, a handful of green beans, and the first ripe tomato!
Today, I am grateful for:
- Continuing to be pain free
- Being able to rest when I need to
- M helping with the garden
- Today's garden harvest
- What I was able to accomplish
Today's joyful activities included watching videos online and chatting with family and friends.
Plans for tomorrow (Saturday) include trying a new zucchini bread recipe!
How was your Friday? What are your plans for this weekend?
You still were a bit busy even though you also took it easy.
ReplyDeleteIt's always nice to have a relaxing day.
I made a cake yesterday using 3 bananas that needed to be used up. I added some blueberries, coconut and walnuts and sort of winged it. It turned out very good.
I am glad that M is able to continue tending to your garden 2 days a week.
I guess I did keep myself occupied while resting! :D
DeleteYour cake sounds delicious! We had some bananas that were getting too ripe, but, I think my daughter froze them for later.
M being able to continue tending to the garden twice a week is a blessing! The garden will get watered twice a week, if nothing else!
Boy, you sure got a lot done for being tired! I would be tired just talking to that many people on the phone in one day. :)
ReplyDeleteWell, it didn't feel like I did a lot; perhaps, writing it all down makes it appear like I did more! I've spent a very relaxed morning, so far, today; only spoke on the phone with one cousin! :D
DeleteConsidering you rested in bed, you have had a very busy day! Well done, and I hope it doesn't trigger a flare up.
ReplyDeleteHow many zucchinis have you picked in total so far? Will you grow them again next year?
It's good that M can continue to tend the garden twice a week. Do you think you'll continue with that arrangement even when you are confident that this health issue is behind you? I couldn't manage without my M now!
As I mentioned in my reply to Live and Learn, above, it didn't feel like I did a lot; I think writing it all out made it sound like I did more! :D Fortunately, there was no flare up and I slept well.
DeleteYou know, I haven't kept a tally of how many zucchinis we picked! But, looking through my previous posts and including what was picked yesterday, I would say at least 60! The first zucchini was harvested on June 2 and there were a total of 9 (although only 7 were pictured). Two days later, we picked 8 more! Ever since then, we've been picking at least a few every Wednesday and Friday!
Will I plant them again, next year? Oh, most definitely yes! Maybe not 14 plants, though! LOL.
Whether M will be able to continue twice a week after July will depend on how busy he is. I know he has more people asking him to tend to their gardens than he has time! I wouldn't want him to decline a new client who might be able to pay him more because he has promised to tend to my garden.
Sounds like a good day but be sure to rest up a bit too! Enjoy the weekend. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Martha. I've been resting most of the morning, today. :)
DeleteWell, you are learning to listen to your body and getting things done in between resting. Your gardener M is a godsend and you can still do a bit here and there while he takes care of the heavy work.
ReplyDeleteWe had rain in the night and in the morning and the river level has come up to lift the small boats off the mud. I made butternut squash soup for lunch, so easy with the frozen squash already cut up and some celery, onion, spices and a dollop of cream cheese after they are cooked and blended.
I am learning to break things down to 5-10 minute segments, Bushlady. Baby steps as we used to say! Yes, M is a blessing and I am hoping that, by the end of July, I will be able to do a few more things.
DeleteYour butternut squash soup sounds good! I tried two kinds of squash soups from the grocery store, but, found them both to be too sweet for my liking!
I wish we could get some of your rain!
Hope you have a lovely weekend and there will be some sunny weather to enjoy.
Hi Bless, thank you for your response to my last comment. I appreciate your concern. Yes, I have been at my sister's this past week, and return home tomorrow. She is doing well. You are fortunate to have M available to care for your garden. A friend takes care of my cat and garden while I am away. I do hope you continue to be pain free. Be careful not to overdo it! Best, Celie
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your sister is doing well, Celie, and you are able to return to your home, tomorrow. You are a good sister! I'm glad your friend is able to take care of your cat and garden while you are away at your sister's. Thank you, I am very careful not to overdo things. Lots of rest in between 5-10 minutes of activity! Have a lovely rest of the weekend and a safe trip home, tomorrow.
