Sunny Wednesday

California Poppy

The first California poppy to bloom in my garden, this year.  It is the state flower of California.

Yesterday (Tuesday) was another productive day.  Once again, I accomplished almost everything on my to do list!  I dusted and vacuumed the family room, brought in the trash cans, watered the house plants, got my tax file nicely organized and double checked to make sure all the documents and information that were needed were there, had my piano lesson at 7:15 p.m., instead of 6:00 p.m., and cleaned the litter box.  I cooked greens and vegetables from the garden instead of the cauliflower, but, that's OK!

Today's biggest accomplishment was getting the tax documents over to the tax preparer's office!  She had emailed me, this morning, reminding me, again, that although my appointment with her was scheduled for today (we made the appointment, last year), she is working from home, but, will pick up the documents from the office in the evening.  I called her office to make sure someone will be there to accept the documents and dropped them off a little after 1:00 p.m. (my original appointment was at 1:00 p.m.).  The receptionist had me sign a couple of consent forms and gave me copies of the forms and a receipt to acknowledge that they have received my documents.

After I came home, I prepared some noodles for lunch, using ramen noodles, shredded cooked chicken, and the leftover stir fry from yesterday:

Stir Fried Ramen Noodles

I woke up with a bit of a headache, this morning, so I am taking it easy, today.  Plans for today include doing laundry (first load has already been done; second load is in the washer),  practicing the piano, cooking that cauliflower that is languishing in the fridge, and, vacuuming the rest of the house if I feel up to it.

Today, I am grateful for:
- The car started without any problems
- A safe drive to the tax office and back
- Being able to drop off the tax documents
- Working appliances
- Flowers in the garden

Today's joyful activity is card making!

    1. Thank you, Live and Learn; it's a big relief to get it done and off my to do list! The headache lingered for some time, but, wore off, eventually. I probably should have taken something for it, but, I can be stubborn when it comes to taking more medications than I absolutely have to.

  3. That's great that you got your tax documents handed in. Love the California Poppy. My mother told me that her mother wore California Poppy scent, but when I visited CA and sniffed them I don't think there was a strong perfume so maybe it was just a neat advertising name back in the early 20th century!

    1. Thank you, Bushlady; it's a big relief to me to hand over the tax papers! Now I can relax! I don't have to think about them until they are ready to be reviewed and sent!

I really can't tell if the California poppy has any scent, but, then, I seem unable to detect many scents! But, a perfume called California Poppy does bring up an image of sunshine, beaches, and palm trees, doesn't it? :)

  4. Beautiful poppy, Bless. I'm hoping to have lots of red poppies later in the year.

Well done on getting your tax documents delivered - that must be a relief.

You seem to have had quite a few productive days recently, so maybe the waking headache is suggesting the need for an easier day? Take care xx

    1. It's lovely, isn't it? Such a bright pop of color in the garden, too. I'm looking forward to seeing your red poppies.

Thank you; getting them to the tax office was such a relief! Now, I can relax!

Yes, maybe the headache is due to stress from getting the taxes done! Or, dehydration (I'm trying to be more aware and drink more water) or insufficient sleep. Probably a combination! I'm taking it easy, today. :)
