Monday's Doings

I woke up this morning (such a blessing to be able to do so!), looking forward to re-doing a few more scrapbook pages.   After my morning tea and responding to blog comments, of course.  But, not before  I made myself a tuna salad sandwich for brunch, put a load of laundry to wash, and practiced the piano.

I don't think Dancer liked my piano playing, today, because he started weaving in and out under the piano stool, meowing!  Or, maybe he was singing and dancing?  The piece I was playing was about a donkey, sweetly singing, "Hee haw, hee haw", if you didn't feed him; Dancer sang, "Me-ow, me-ow"!  Maybe I should get ourselves an agent!

After piano practice, the laundry was ready to be put away (I had dried it in the dryer).  That led to tidying up one of the drawers where I store my sweaters.

Then, inspired by Susan and her pantry cupboard cleaning, I decided to clean the shelf where I store my food storage containers:

Empty, Cleaned Cabinet Shelf

I pulled everything out and washed the shelf and the sides.  While it dried, I sorted through my containers:

Food Storage Containers

I found some extra lids that went into the recycling bag.  All the remaining containers were matched with their lids.  Some people recommend you store your containers, stacked, with the lids on, so you don't have to look for the matching lid to the container.  I prefer to keep some of the containers nested, so I tried to compromise and did a little of both:

Some Stacked and Some Nested
And put them all back in the now clean and dry cabinet shelf:

Storage Container Shelf
I don't use these containers that much for food storage, any more, preferring to use glass containers, instead.  But, I have been using these containers when I send food home with various people.  I gave away several containers, last week, when I hosted the prayer gathering, and said I didn't want them returned.

I also found this item, at the back of the shelf:

Light Cover from Old Fridge?
Not quite sure what it is, but, I think it might be the fridge light cover from the old fridge.  I put it in the recycling bin!

Finally, I sat down to scrapbook around 2:30 p.m. and did a few pages!  I am a very slow scrapbooker.  I spent about two and a half hours and did five or six pages, total!

Then, at 5:00 p.m., I stopped to have a cup of tea and I cleaned the fridge, took the kitchen trash and recycling out, took the trash bins to the curb, and watered the front garden.   Then, watched the news, had dinner, and did the dishes.  I didn't cook the fish curry as planned; instead, I thawed something I had in the freezer and had that!  Later, I video chatted with my daughter.

Today, I am grateful for:
- Waking up, alive and well
- A home of my own, messy and cluttered though it might be
- Dancer, with his singing and dancing
- Texting and video chatting with my daughter
- Photographs that capture memories

Today's joyful activity was scrapbooking.

  1. It must be that time of year, I've been making a start on spring cleaning myself. The food storage cupboard has remained tidy and clean (I've been trying to keep on top of it), this weekend I've tidied the laundry and cleaning cupboard and today it's the turn of the cupboard under the kitchen sink. Never let it be said that I don't know how to have a good time :D

  3. Thank you Bless for often having a gratitude list filled with the ordinary.

I know it makes me happy to find the goodness and blessings in my day-to-day simple life.

Most of my friends are busy trying to make a lot of money to buy a lot of things. That's fine because it's their life to live and we all get to design our own lives.

I'm just glad I'm not motivated by the same things.
For one - I'd still be working lol
But I find a real peace and contentment with a simple life.
And I'm grateful everyday for it.

    1. Thank you, Debra, for appreciating my everyday gratitudes. :) I think that a simple, ordinary life is a good thing to have. Actually, if you think about it, what we consider to be a simple, ordinary life isn't all that simple or ordinary. It is, in fact, something millions of people can only dream of having.

  4. Are you and Dancer hoping to take your show on the road? " Maybe I should get ourselves an agent!" was a laugh out loud moment.

Glad that I could inspire you. Now if only I could inspire myself to finish these cupboards, I would be a happy camper. I did accomplish the next baby step yesterday, but now onward and forward with next steps. I still have my lower cabinets to do.

I am glad you are enjoying the scrap booking process right now. You will be so pleased with your final result.

    1. Yes, I think we'll be a sure hit if we take our show on the road! Although the piano is a bit heavy to carry around! :D

Oh, I, too, have my lower kitchen cabinets to declutter and sort through. I am waiting until I become inspired to do them! LOL!

I hope to get a few more pages of scrapbooking done, today. I am having fun, now that I've got started on it, again. :)

  6. I haven't thought about the donkey song forever and I had to promptly sing it. That was one of my joyful activities for the day. :)

  7. Snap! I keep my plastic boxes in red baskets as well.

You've had another very productive day by the sounds of it. I love that Dancer is taking an interest in your piano playing. Maybe he thinks that, like the jigsaw puzzles, you need to be supervised!

    1. Oh, how funny that you use red baskets, too!

Maybe that's just what Dancer is thinking! Maybe he was meowing his encouragement to me! "Meow, meow, practice makes perfect, meow"! :D

  8. You had a productive Monday, too, but Dancer seems to have had something on his mind!
Tuesday has been dull with snow falling and that does not lead to a productive state of mind for me. I did fetch the laundry upstairs but haven't paired the socks yet. I got out of that by visiting my friend and then had another cuppa with DH when I got back.

    1. I did have a productive Monday, didn't I? I think Dancer was encouraging me to practice. I hope he was not complaining that he couldn't play, too!

A dull snowy day wouldn't appeal to me, either, Bushlady. I'll take visiting a friend over pairing socks, any day! :D Hope tomorrow will be a better day, weather-wise.
