Kitchen (Photo taken in early February) |
I didn't do a "rotm" in January as I was not feeling up to it. February's "rotm" was actually the whole house as I concentrated on getting the whole house somewhat clean and organized.
But, in March, I want to focus on the kitchen. It has been a couple of years since I deep cleaned the kitchen, last. Oh, I've sorted through cabinets, wiped down shelves, washed the cabinet doors, etc., but, I haven't gone through each and every cabinet, systematically, and decluttered and cleaned. It has been awhile since I last pulled everything out from the cabinet under the sink, for example, and washed the bottom of that cabinet. Ditto with the corner cabinet with the double tiered turn-table where I store my pots and pans and some of my baking equipment. So, that's the plan for March.
Does anyone else want to join me to do a room of the month? You don't have to choose the kitchen; it can be any other room or area of your home. Again, one is supposed to do just 15 minutes or so, each day. Baby steps. One shelf, drawer, or cabinet at a time. Declutter, first; then, clean, tidy, and organize.
Ohh! I'll join you! The kitchen is definitely one area I will be concentrating on when I get Spring Break in another week. It needs a deep cleaning and major clean-out and organizing. I'll be following along!
ReplyDeleteThat'll be great to have you join me, Mandy. :)
DeleteI deep cleaned my cooker yesterday. I think I shall continue to work on the kitchen this month too
ReplyDeleteI need to clean my oven! Glad to know that you, too, will be working in the kitchen, this month, Angela. :)
DeleteThis is a great idea. I'll join you. X
ReplyDeleteYay! The more the merrier! Glad to have you join me. If I remember correctly, you already did some cleaning in the kitchen, recently, didn't you?
DeleteI did, but hopefully this way I will keep on top of it. X
DeleteYes, and, frequent going over is the best way to keep things maintained. :)
DeleteMy kitchen could certainly do with some TLC. The pantry is a bit of a jumble, I need to rearrange some things. The corner cupboard needs the shelves wiping down (I shall have to sit on a low stool or be stuck down there forever when I finish the job!) There is one upper cabinet which does not reach the ceiling. I wonder what is lurking up there in the dust?
ReplyDeleteGlad to have you join us, Bushlady. Yes, do sit on a low stool. Or, at the very least, keep one nearby, so that you can use it to lever yourself up, if needed. That's what I do! Be careful, too, if you are climbing up to reach the upper cabinets. At one time, I used to clamber up onto the counter to wash the upper parts of my cabinets, but, I am a bit nervous to do so, now.
DeleteIt'll be the dining end of the kitchen/dining room for me. It doesn't need much in the way of deep cleaning but all the items set aside for selling are piled in this room. Assigning it ROTM status will encourage me to get it cleared. Hopefully!!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds good, Eileen. You'll have a month in which to clear the items set aside for selling and getting the room ready to be used as a dining room. :)
DeleteCount me in. I don't want to move on to the next deep cleaning project until I have my kitchen sorted. I have ALL the lower cabinets and drawers to deep clean, but also the tops of my uppers (which do not go up to the ceiling). I started this project sometime in January, went through the month of February, so I will have the impetus from this challenge to see the completion. This week, I will be a "carpenter's assistant" as we build in the shower downstairs.
ReplyDeleteGlad to have you join us, Susan. It was your deep cleaning of the pantry cabinets that inspired me to choose the kitchen, this month. I suggest you lay down more of those washable shelf liners on the tops of the cabinets that don't reach all the way to the ceilings, after you've cleaned them. Or, if you don't have enough shelf liners, then, wax paper or paper towels. Then, next time the kitchen cleaning comes around, you can just wash the liners or toss the wax paper/kitchen towels and reline the tops.
DeleteI'm in too!
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking that I need to pull out the stove and clean behind it and the frig.
Can't remember the last time I did so - but it's been years.
And I have two open bookshelves that need to be emptied and washed and the display items cleaned.
I am definitely doing this along with you.
Thanks for "hosting" us all.
Glad to have you join us, Debra. The more the merrier, as they say. :)
