Winter Photo Scavenger Hunt: January Link Up

Time to link up with Eileen for the WPSH January link up.  I had every good intention to take lots of photos, but, time seems to have slipped away from me!  So, here are my rather paltry offerings:

#16. A barrier - the iron fence that is a barrier to accessing my side yard.  Not to be confused with prompt #5: A garden gate!  This is a fixed in place fence, meant to keep out people and larger animals from entering the side yard and, from there, the back yard.  The garden cats slip through the bars as if the fence panel was not there!

#16: A Barrier - iron fence panel

#17. A line - The curved line over or under notes on different lines or spaces on a music staff.  It is called a slur and it  indicates that the music notes under it should be played in a smoothly connected manner.  Something I keep forgetting and my piano teacher keeps reminding me to pay attention to!

#17: A line - a curved line called a slur

#20. Monochrome - I saw something else that I thought would be a better find for this prompt, but, I didn't have my phone with me and I couldn't take a photo.  So, I took this photo, instead - nature's version of monochrome.  The brown shades of the peeling bark of my eucalyptus tree

#20 Monochrome - eucalyptus bark

These are my only finds for January.  I hope to do better in February.

  1. These photo scavenger hunts look like fun and someday I'm going to join in. Well, actually I joined in last year, but never followed through. Until then, I will enjoy your pictures.

    1. They are fun, Live and Learn. The winter hunt goes on until the end of March, so, if you still want to join, it's not too late. :)

    2. There's still plenty of time to take part Live and Learn. It's all about having fun and it really doesn't matter if you don't complete the list. I'd love for you to join us.

    1. Well, now you know! :) I originally took a different photo for this prompt, but, then, changed my mind and took this picture from my music book, instead.

  4. Good finds! I love the patterns on tree bark. We are surrounded by so much beauty in nature.

I took my camera into town the other day as I wanted to capture the view of the snow-capped hills on the other side of the river, a view that delights me every time I drive down to the downtown area from the Trans Canada highway. Viewed from a hill, these distant hills look huge. I often think of what travelers are missing when they just drive on past the turnoff and avoid the town altogether.

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. There is definitely a lot of beauty in nature.

The view of the snow-capped mountains probably looks lovely. Too often, we are too intent on reaching our destinations to spend time just enjoying the scenery.

  5. Three more to tick off the list so well done. I'm especially pleased to see a musical interpretation for line ... you can have a gold star for that ⭐

    1. Thank you, Nil. I might still take the other photo I had wanted to take for it, but, that one might be more predictable.

  7. Love the photo of the eucalyptus bark. That is my favourite. Your photos were all taken in or around your house. You will have to take your phone/camera with you when you leave your house (even if only to go to your appointments or running errands). That way you will be able to finish the winter scavenger hunt.

    1. Thank you, Susan. Yes, I usually take my cell phone with me, but, that one particular day, I had left it at home! Today, I not only took the cell phone with me, I even took the list of prompts, and the only photo I took was after I came home! LOL!

    1. Thank you, Susie. Yes, it is fun! I took piano lessons as a child, more because my mother wanted me to than because I wanted to, and back then, I didn't like practicing. I am taking lessons now because I think it is good for me to get the old brain cells working again! :) Hope all is well with you and Ted.

  9. Oh I like the texture on your eucalyptus bark. Brilliant on the line prompt.

  10. I too really like your monochrome picture.
And I learned something - the word slur in music.

Maybe small photo offerings, but interesting ones.
