I left the doctor's office at 11:45 a.m. and got home by 12:30 p.m. Aunt C had called and left a message, so I called her back and chatted with her for a bit. Her daughter, my cousin N, was cleaning out the garage, aunt said, and aunt was helping her to decide what to keep and what to give away. I need to do that, myself, one of these days!
After lunch, I went for my piano lesson. I had a good lesson, but, I have to repeat some of the pieces as I need to play them smoothly. "Legato", she said! And, "Play slowly". I didn't get any stickers, this time! LOL.
In the evening, I went to see my friend who had a stroke in early December. She is home, now, able to talk quite well and walk unaided. When I think of how she was when I visited in the hospital that first time, her recovery is nothing short of a miracle! Definitely in answer to all our prayers! I told them that we have all been praying for her recovery, including several of my blog friends. She still needs to have dialysis three times a week and they had to replace the port through which they do the dialysis, this week, because the earlier one didn't work too well. But, she is doing so well. Her sister has come down to look after her, leaving her husband and two babies back in Colorado (the older girl is 3 years old and the younger one is not yet 1 year old); it's hard for her, too. She recently lost her job when the department store she worked in for over 20 years closed down, so she has the time to be with her sister, but, it means she is unable to look for another job, at present.
After I came home, I had dinner. I had cooked the green beans and the pork chop, last night:

Today, I am grateful for:
- The doctor's visit went well
- I had a safe drive there and back
- Free parking at the doctor's office
- My friend's recovery from her stroke
- Her sister is able to spare the time to be with her right now
Today's joyful activity was doing the second jigsaw puzzle. As usual, I had some help:

How was your Thursday? What are your plans for Friday?
So pleased to hear of your friends progress. Answered prayers indeed!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Angela. Yes, definitely answered prayers! :)
DeleteThat's fantastic news about your friend's progress.
ReplyDeleteWell done on the piano progress as well, even with the lack of stickers this time.
Yes, it really is good news, isn't it?
DeleteThank you! I think I have to practice more! :D
i think the new puzzle was really Dancer's joyful activity. :)
ReplyDeleteSo happy that your friend is recovering from her stroke.
I think it was his joyful activity, too! He squirmed around on his back on the puzzle pieces, broke the side border, caused a bunch of pieces to fall on the floor, and swatted my hand when I tried to remove a piece to fit into the puzzle! LOL!
DeleteThank you; I'm so glad she's recovering.
It's such good news about your friend. Wishing her a continued recovery. X
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jules. :)
DeleteI’m glad your friend is recovering well. It’s wonderful news.
ReplyDeleteI also plan to make sautéed green beans today. 😊
Thank you, Nil. It was good to see her home, again.
DeleteSauteed green beans are very good, aren't they? :)
I heard on the news that Florida is having a cold spell. Hope you are able to keep warm and the plants in your garden are doing well.
Good news doctor's visits, are worth their weight in gold!
ReplyDeleteWonderful...!!!

Thank you, Wisps of Words. Yes, I am very grateful for the medical care I've received.
DeleteSuch good news about your friend ... and a good report from your own doctor too- those definitely made the day qualify as 'a good day'-
ReplyDeleteI've been watching the news for more earthquakes out your way ... enough already though- I am sure whenever there are tremors everyone there holds their breath and hopes for the best-I think every region has some kind of 'natural disaster' to which they are prone, so we all live thinking 'what if'- I guess it does keep us aware we are at the mercy of the elements-
Hope you have a fun and active weekend ahead of you- as always,my fondest regards-
Barb
Yes, it was a very good day with the good news about my friend and my own successful doctor's visit.
DeleteYou are right; every region does have its own natural phenomena with which to deal. We just do our best to be prepared for them and go on with our daily lives.
Thank you; I hope you, too, will have a fine weekend. Best wishes to you and yours. :)
How wonderful that your friend is doing so well, and that your doctor visit went well.
ReplyDeleteDancer seems to think that some form of meditation will help the puzzle progress. However he doesn't seem to realize that napping on the pieces hinders that benefit. I had an excellent nap on the kitchen couch after lunch and woke up in good time to phone my friend and go round and see her.
Thank you, Bushlady. Dancer is always willing to lend a helping paw! I'm glad you had a good afternoon nap, followed by a visit with your friend. Sounds like a very good way to spend a Friday. :)
