Music Book Arrives on Tuesday

Music Book and Coffee/Spice Grinder
My new piano music book arrived today!  Along with it, the coffee/spice grinder I ordered as mine had broken.  While using the pestle and mortar to pound the spices for the love cake worked out pretty well, a coffee/spice grinder is a useful gadget to have and buying it enabled me to qualify for free shipping.

The piano book is called "Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course Lesson Book Level One":

New Piano Book
I sat at the piano and played the first few pieces without any difficulty.  S, who has no idea what I can or cannot play, has already said that we can skip ahead if she thinks I can handle it, but, I don't mind starting from the very beginning.  I will call her, tomorrow, to let her know that the book has arrived and confirm that I will have my first lesson on Thursday.  I should also call my piano tuner!

Today, I watered the garden, front and back, watered the house plants, put away a few things, and video chatted with my daughter.

Today, I am grateful for:
- The piano book and spice grinder arrived sooner than estimated
- No "porch pirates" stole my package!
- Water for the garden
- Hearing from a blog friend I haven't heard from in several months
- Other friends I keep in contact with on a more regular, often daily, basis.

My joyful activities included moving to music!

Wednesday's To Do List:
- Call neighbor S
- Call the piano tuner
- Vacuum
- Finish tidying and dusting my bedroom

How was your Tuesday?  What are your plans for Wednesday?

  1. Good luck with your lessons! I taught myself a little how to play. If you are ready to learn, you will! Andrea

  2. How exciting. Let the music begin.

When you use a grinder for spices, is it hard to clean between grindings so you don't contaminate one spice with another?

    1. Thank you, Live and Learn. :)

No, I just wipe it out with a paper towel. Usually, I use several spices together in combination, so, it doesn't matter too much if they are mixed a bit in the grinder.

  3. Happy for you!

And also happy, that the package was not stolen, from in front of your house. We really have to "keep watch," when we have ordered something... So as not to leave it out, long enough, to have someone try to steal it.

    1. Thank you, Wisps of Words. I suppose thefts of packages from people's doorsteps are more common before Christmas than after, but, good advice to keep watch for the deliveries when packages are expected.

  4. That's a very elegant piano book so now you are all set to start your lessons. Do you think you might ever stay up until 4 am practicing, since you are a bit of a night owl? Has Dancer shown any interest in helping you play?

I had a stay at home day today but I did walk to the communal mailbox so I got some fresh air and exercise. I made some yogurt, glued a broken washing line spacer that had been around for ages waiting on me, washed the hair brushes and had a long chat with a friend who called out of the blue. I'm not sure where the rest of the day went, apart from getting meals (banana pancakes for breakfast for a start) but I did manage to fit in a nap!

    1. I don't think my neighbors will appreciate it if I practice in the wee hours of the morning, although I do have a pedal that can make the piano very soft! No, Dancer is not interested in playing; in his opinion, the piano is a good spot for a nap or a place to climb up on to try to reach that spot of sunlight on the wall that teases him!

Sounds like you had a good day, even if you stayed at home. You accomplished much more than I did! I have absolutely no energy today!

  5. Oh good, you're piano book came. You must be excited to start your formal lessons.

Porch Pirates - I don't order a lot and have never had a problem personally but I've seen the news spots about it. It's so brazen isn't it? To just walk up to a stranger's house and steal from them right out in the open?

    1. Yes, I was pleased that it arrived sooner than estimated. I am both excited and nervous about the lessons! I don't know why I am nervous, though! LOL.

I rarely order anything, myself, although my daughter orders stuff, every now and then. But, I, too, have heard about people stealing packages on the news. I just can't imagine the mindset of those who do!

    1. Thank you, Nil. Yes, it went well, except, I was so nervous that I was making the silliest mistakes! LOL. But, S was very kind and patient; I think I'll be better, next week. :)
