Dancer Helps on Saturday!

Dancer Helps with the Puzzle

Today, my daughter went out with her friends for the day - an escape room, lunch, ice cream, and a touring Broadway musical show.

While she was gone, I did two loads of laundry.  While the first load was washing, I decided to try to fit a few more pieces of the puzzle together.  Dancer had not been interested in it while daughter and I worked on it.  I guess he figured that with daughter there, I didn't need additional help.  But, Mummy doing a puzzle all by herself?  Of course, Dancer had to come and help!

"Try that piece, Mummy"

It doesn't quite fit, Dancer.

"Don't worry if the pieces don't fit, Mummy; I will bite off bits to make them fit!"

Thank you, Dancer, but, I'd rather you didn't bite them off!

Then, it was time to put the washed load into the dryer.  I covered the puzzle pieces with the table cloth to keep a helpful kitty off the pieces!

Around that time, I had one of those ocular migraines/eye auras, with wavy lines of color distorting my vision.  Fortunately, I no longer get the migraine headaches that used to follow.  I don't get them that often, any more, and I don't know quite what triggered today's aura - perhaps a lack of sleep, perhaps because I hadn't eaten anything, perhaps I was dehydrated, or, perhaps, my eyes didn't appreciate having to look at all those puzzle pieces!  Anyway, I warmed up some of the food I had brought home, last night, and ate that and drank more water.  After a few minutes, the aura faded and I was fine, again.

Just then, friend R called to ask if she could visit and, although she wanted to call a ride service, I said I'll come and pick her up.  We exchanged gifts, had a cup of tea and some love cake, and chatted for a couple of hours.  Afterwards, I drove her home.  We are planning to get together to have lunch, later this month.

After I came home, I put away the laundry and went on-line for a bit.

Later, after daughter came home, we stayed up chatting for some time and then, she packed her suitcase as she is leaving, tomorrow.

Today, I am grateful for:
- Dancer helping me with the puzzle!
- Daughter had a fun day with her friends
- Getting together with R
- A new glass butter dish to replace the one that broke more than a year ago
- The ocular migraine went away without any accompanying headache

Today's joyful activities included visiting with friend R and daughter and I giving each other facials.

Plans for tomorrow include taking daughter to the airport.

How was your Saturday?  What are your plans for Sunday?

  1. I think I'd get on well with your daughter, that's my idea of a lovely day out!

I'm glad to see that Dancer is taking an interest in the puzzle. He obviously feels that you need to be supervised! Is he okay now?

    1. I, too, think you'll get on well with my daughter, Eileen - she loves HP, too! :D

Yes, it is funny how Dancer didn't think my daughter needed any help when she was working on the puzzle by herself, but, he feels I need help! He's doing OK for the most part. He still throws up, occasionally, but, not several times a day like the time I took him to the vet. We will check him again, in 6 months, and decide on a treatment plan, then.

    1. He is certainly a very helpful kitty! Maybe this is the year you'll get a helpful little kitty, yourself?

Thank you. Wish you a very happy new year, Diana, and a lovely week ahead. :)

  5. Lucky you having Dancer to help with your jigsaw. Mine has gone by the wayside for now, as I've started a new little crochet project.
I expect you'll be sad for your daughter to leave. I hope you won't be waiting too long for her to return home again. X

    1. Yes, I am very lucky to have Dancer help! :D Glad to hear that you've started a new crochet project!

Yes, I'll miss daughter when she's gone. I am hoping she'll be able to visit again at the end of February/beginning of March so we can celebrate her birthday, together. She needs to request the time off, but, her birthday is on a Monday, so, if she comes down on Friday night, she'll just take two days off (her birthday and the next day to fly back). Looking forward to that. :)

  6. Funny Dancer! Sounds like you've had a great visit with your daughter. I hope her travels are safe. Hopefully you'll see her again soon. I just booked a plane to see daughter towards the end of January. Keeping my fingers crossed that there are no snow storms to interfere!

    1. Yes, thank you, Sharon, she reached her apartment, safely. I will probably see her at the end of February/beginning of March for her birthday. I am glad that you have booked a flight to see your daughter at the end of this month! That's just 3 weeks away and the time will pass quickly, I'm sure! Hopefully, the weather will be nice and nothing will interfere with your visit. :)

  7. I was so busy revisiting your previous posts on the love cake that I forgot to comment at all. I don't think we can have done jigsaw puzzles when our cats were around, or for sure the black one would have got involved. Dancer obviously thinks a puzzle is quite a treat to help with, much more exciting than quilting because things move easily!

    1. Oh, he does like those puzzle pieces that are easily moved! But, he says that quilts are more comfy! :D

  8. I occasionally get the ocular migraine - maybe once every couple of years - but never any pain associated with it so that's good.
I remember the first time it happened and it scared me so bad!
I was very relieved when the doctor checked me out and told me what it was.

    1. The first time I had one, I, too, was wondering what it was! Back then, though, they were precursors to migraine headaches. I never know what triggers the ocular migraines, however.
