Visiting Family on Tuesday

Cherry Blossoms at the Japanese Garden

On the second day of my new cleaning schedule, I slept in and spent the rest of the morning on the computer!  Cousin P called around noon to touch bases and see if I was still planning to visit Aunt T.  I said yes, and we decided we should leave around 2:30 p.m. Then, I had a scrambled egg and half a piece of toast for my brunch and got dressed.

I brought in the trash cans, put away some of the laundry from yesterday, checked the mail, and took a quick look at the week's grocery ads that came in Tuesday's mail.

Cousin came over around 2:20 p.m. and we left to visit Aunt T at the assisted living facility.  It took me about 30 minutes to drive there.  Shortly after we got there, Aunt's daughters, my cousins V and R, came with one of their other cousins (Aunt's brother's daughter), her husband, and V's husband, too.  Aunt was very happy because we were all there.  However, her blood pressure was very high (normal for her, according to my cousins) and the staff at the facility became alarmed and they insisted on calling the paramedics.  Aunt declined to go to the emergency room, however, and after the paramedics checked her out, and everything else was deemed normal, it was decided that she didn't need to go to the emergency, after all.

Cousin P and I waited until things settled and Aunt was taken to have her dinner.  As we started to take our leave, however, cousin V invited us to her house to a meal.  Since neither cousin P nor I had any other plans, we accepted the invitation and we all went over to cousin V's house.  She ordered Thai food and we ate and chatted for awhile.

On the way home, I stopped at the pharmacy to pick up my medication refills that were ready and then, both cousin P and I did a little bit of grocery shopping.  I mostly wanted the eggs that were on sale for $1.49/dozen (today was the last day of the sale) and some cat food.  Then, I dropped cousin off and came home.  It was past 8:00 p.m.!

I had a bit of an asthma attack, after that, so I rested while I waited for the inhaler to take effect.  I had a cup of tea, chatted with my daughter, corresponded with a friend, etc.  Then, I put away the rest of the laundry from yesterday, cleaned the litter box, watered the indoor plants (I'm down to just a couple, now, since I seem to have killed at least two more plants!), and dusted the family room and my bed room, because I was determined not to procrastinate and go off the cleaning schedule on just the second day!  LOL!

Today, I am grateful for:
- Being able to visit Aunt T and give cousin P a ride
- Being able to visit with my cousins and share a meal, afterwards
- Inhalers which enable me to breathe easier
- Chatting with my daughter
- All what I was able to accomplish, today

My joyful activity for today was spending time with family.

  1. I'm glad your aunt's BP came down. Do you think it could have been related to all of the visitors she had at one time? I'm sure she enjoyed the family crowd, but it may be been too much excitement at once. That used to happen to my aunt and her BP would go up. It was not the entire cause of her raised BP, but it added to it.

    1. Live and Learn, that's what I wondered, too - that our presence there might have contributed. In fact, I asked that question of my cousin and the others who were there, and was told no, this was normal for her. But, I know that the excitement of having visitors can raise a person's blood pressure. Had it been my mother, I would have asked visitors to leave. However, after being told no, I felt that, were I to leave, then, it might be misunderstood and lead to a whole other issue! My family tends to be like that! LOL!

  2. Oh no! Hope you rested after the asthma attack. Do they happen often? Sounds like a lovely day visiting family. I hope you didn't overdo things!

    1. Thanks, Sharon. Yes, I rested some. I still don't quite know what triggers my asthma attacks, but, dust, pollen, more moisture in the air, and my level of tiredness all seem to contribute!

  3. Try not to overdo things after your asthma attack.
I have to get busy with cleaning and vacuuming today. The house is looking a bit of a mess and I'd quite like to be able to empty it all, clean it thoroughly, then put back only what is necessary. It's amazing just how quickly we can accumulate clutter.
It's reassuring to know it's not just me that isn't good with houseplants. Although my current batch are holding out OK for now. X

    1. Yes, Jules, but, I don't want to make my asthma an excuse for not getting things done, either! I didn't want my cleaning schedule to get derailed on the second day! :D

I hope you get your house cleaning done, today. Maybe we are all in spring cleaning mode! I am hopeless when it comes to houseplants! I need to grow succulents and cacti as houseplants!

  4. Another eventful day sparked by the spontaneity of visiting family. It seems to me that when members of your family get together, it is Party Time. Ha,ha. Arriving home after 8 o'clock would have been my cue to pack it all in and get ready for bed, but it was the beginning of your day. You still managed to accomplish your cleaning schedule for day 2. I am more than impressed.

    1. Susan, you are right! Quite often, we do make it a party, when we get together! There is almost always some food involved, too!

Well, to be quite honest with you, I was ready to call it quits when I got home, too! At least, where the cleaning was concerned! BUT, I didn't want to postpone the day's cleaning tasks on only the SECOND day of the new schedule! :o

    1. Thank you, Akasha. She has a doctor's appointment, later this week (my cousins are trying to bring it forward) and another of my cousins will be visiting her, today. I shall be visiting her again, soon, and we'll take it one day at a time, I suppose. She said she saw my uncle (her late husband) calling her from across the street and she told him to go away! LOL!

  6. How nice to get to visit your aunt and then have Thai (one of my favorite cuisines ) with the family. Spontaneous shared meals are always great.
Procrastination should be my middle name and as soon as I finish reading blogs____

"Procrastination should be my middle name" - ha, ha, mine, too! In fact, my middle initial is P! Now, when people ask me what it's for, I shall say, "Procrastination" and watch for the reaction! :D

  7. You did well to catch up with your cleaning after a busy time visiting and then shopping. I'm really behind with cleaning at the moment. I was out in the morning to church and then grocery shopping, then checked e-mails and made lunch. Then I decided to do a little work on my taxes but got so tired that I had to take a nap and that was the end of the afternoon! I did recover enough to make a pie, though.

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. I was tempted to skip the cleaning, "It really isn't all that dusty, it can wait until Wednesday", etc., but decided to go ahead with it! Now, 3/4 of the way through the vacuuming, I am having the same debate, thanks to feeling a bit of a wheeze, despite taking my inhaler and wearing a dust mask. I will rest and see how I feel after a cup of tea (brewing as I type this) before I go on with the cleaning. Just have to vacuum the family room, but I don't want to push myself and get a full blown asthma attack, either. The vacuuming can wait another day, if needed.
