Cleaning on Thursday

Both my house and my teeth, that is!

Today, I dusted the living room and dining area, cleared and polished the dining table, put away the dishes, cleaned the kitchen counters and stove top, and tidied the family room.  I also called my financial planner because I wanted to refer her to my cousin.

In between, I went to the dentist and had my teeth deep cleaned!  They took new X-rays, too, because it has been awhile since my last visit (dentist asked me where I had been and I said, "Hiding"!).  The dental assistant who took the X-rays was new.  She had the old X-rays up on the computer screen when the dentist came over to look at them and he rattled off all the things that needed to be done, including filling a cavity and pointing out two teeth that needed extracting!  I thought that was a lot of dental work I needed!  Then, he looked at my mouth and realized that the teeth that needed extracting had already been extracted!  The new X-rays were found and all I needed today was a deep cleaning!  The deep cleaning hurt, even with the anesthesia (both injections and topical).  I was told to take some Tylenol for the pain and I did, and felt better, afterwards.  I have another appointment in 2 weeks' time to get a bridge fitted (since I don't want implants).

Cousin P called after I came home, to ask how I was and to find out if I was still going to the rosary prayer gathering on Saturday and if I can give her a ride.  Friend F called, too, for the same purpose.  I told them to come to my house by 12:45 p.m., in order to be at the prayer gathering by 2:00 p.m.

The retirement forms arrived in the mail today!  Well, of course, they arrived on the day when I cleared the dining table and put away all the papers!  LOL!  Fortunately, I have all the papers related to the retirement forms in one bag.  My original plan had been to fill out the forms the evening they arrived and turn them all in the following day.  But, I have the eye doctor's appointment tomorrow morning and there just won't be enough time to go to the office to make photocopies and turn the papers in before the doctor's appointment and I don't want to delay cousin N by trying to do it afterwards.  Besides, I wasn't quite up to filling out forms, tonight.  Even if it was just copying information from the other papers I filled out, I probably would have made mistakes!  I will fill out the forms over the weekend and take them in on Monday.  It's not procrastinating, it's ensuring accuracy!  That's my story and I am sticking to it!  LOL!

Later, I video chatted with my daughter.

Today, I am grateful for:
- Getting the house picked up
- Getting started on my dental work again
- The new X-rays were found and I didn't need additional extractions, etc!
- Tylenol
- Receiving the retirement forms to fill out

Friday's To Do List:
- Go to my eye appointment
- Put gas to the car (can do Saturday morning, too, before going to the prayer gathering)
- Start on the paperwork
- Clean the litter box
- Attend meditation session? (depending on how I feel)

How was your Thursday?  What have you planned for Friday?

  1. I like that phrase, " It's not procrastinating, it's ensuring accuracy!" I'll have to start using it. :)

  2. Glad the dentist's appointment went well and you will be good to go for the fitting in two weeks time. Also, nice to hear that your retirement forms arrived in the mail for you to work on over the weekend. I thought you had already decided NOT to go this Friday to the meditation, knowing you had the eye appointment this morning?

My plans are to go grocery shopping today after my medical appointment with the nurse. I made it to the end of two weeks. Yippee! I only had enough milk for coffee this morning. Now that was cutting it close.

    1. Thank you, Susan. Yes, I had decided not to go to temple, but, felt I should go if I felt up to it. I didn't go, however, because I realized that I just wasn't quite up to it, after all.

Yay, you managed to go for two weeks! Well done! That's good portioning on your part to make the milk last till this morning's coffee! I hope this means that you are able to manage on the new grocery budget; I'm looking forward to seeing what you bought, today. :)

  3. It sounds like you're getting all your appointments out of the way! I had my eyes checked the other day - one got a little worse. I haven't ordered my new glasses yet. I'm going to look around a bit as the ones where I got my eyes done were all designer frames (expensive too!) and not to my taste.

    1. Yes, I'm getting all the medical stuff done now, before my insurance changes after retirement goes into effect. I need to go for a different eye exam to get my glasses, though. Today's exam was to check for retinopathy, etc.

  4. They do say more haste less speed so I think holding off on the form filling is a good idea.

Goodness if my dentist ever says I need a deep clean I'll be panic stricken. Injections and painkillers!

It's Friday as I type this and we are at the van enjoying a weekend break. Hope your weekend is a good one. Xx

    1. Yes, I'm a firm believer in Lewis Carroll's quote (in Alice in Wonderland) - "The hurrier I go, the behinder I get". :D

The dental assistant promised me that the next cleaning will be a regular cleaning, where they just polish, as opposed to deep cleaning. But I feel OK, today, except for a bit of soreness in the left jaw.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend get away in the van, Suzanne. It's so nice that you can do that. :)

  5. Of course! Accuracy is more important that speed. 😊

I have to grade two stacks of tests , and I want to finish at least one today. Didn't touch it yet, but you know.... the accuracy is more important! LOL

    1. Exactly, Nil! :D You don't want to rush through and make a mistake with the grading and have your students question you! :D I remember the time when my daughter found a mistake in the answers given at the back of one of her math text books and brought it to the attention of her high school math teacher. I think the teacher marked her answer wrong because it didn't match the answer guide and she proved that the answer guide was wrong!
