Slow Tuesday

It has been a slow day, today.  I went to the office rather reluctantly, because I really wanted to stay home, today!  But, as usual, once I got to the office, I had a fairly productive day.

I was ready for the air conditioning, today!  I wore fleece lined leggings under my slacks.  I wore a short sleeved blouse with a long sleeved turtle neck sweater over it and a cardigan over that!  I also wore a jacket and had a scarf with me, although I didn't need to wear them.  I wore my knitted hat every time the a/c came on and wore my gloves for a short time.  But, it seems the trick was to keep my head warm, because, when I wore my hat, my hands didn't freeze as much!  In the afternoon, when someone came up from the floor below, he commented on how cold it was up in our office!  So, it really isn't just me!  But I am the only one who is all bundled up!

Once I came home, I was able to change into a skirt and the short sleeved blouse and was quite comfortable, as it was in the upper 70s and the house was warm!  I brought in the trash cans, and checked the mail.  This week's grocery ads came out, but I didn't see any good deals or stock up prices.  I don't think I will need to buy any groceries until the end of the month.  If I do grocery shop during the weekend (I might need to buy milk), I will consider it as May grocery spending.

Today, I cooked the pork chops I had bought on Saturday:

Dinner: Pork chop, broccoli, and corn

There were three pork chops; I had one for dinner and will have the other two later in the week (or might freeze them).

Friend R called in the evening and we had a nice long chat.  Later, I video chatted with daughter.  She was tired after her ice skating lesson, so we didn't chat for too long.  She admonished me to go to bed soon, so after I post this, I will say my nightly devotions and go to bed!

Today, I am grateful for:
- Waking up, well and alive
- A safe commute to work and back
- Lovely weather (even if the office is cold!)
- Emails and phone calls from friends
- Daughter had fun at her skating lesson

Wednesday's To Do List:
- Go to the office
- Water the indoor plants
- Do the dishes
- Do some paperwork and filing

How was your Tuesday?  Did you have a good day?  What have you planned to do on Wednesday?

  1. My sister's office is always cold so she keeps a pair of thick knee socks, a hat and scarf in her desk drawer, as well as a cardigan on the coat rack. It might be 100 degrees outside but you could almost hang meat in her office. Stay warm

    1. I am almost tempted to buy a small space heater! But, for now, I keep the cardigan in the office and take my jacket with me, just in case!

    2. I don't know about there, but fire codes here won't let us have space heaters where I work. Several people had them under their desk, but had to get rid of them when we had a safety inspection from the fire department. Unless you can use it at home, I'd check before I bought a heater for work. In the meantime, I hope they get the climate control worked out at your new building.

    3. It's probably against the code, here, too, Live and Learn, but I know of at least one person who has a space heater under her desk. I probably won't do it, though. I'll just continue to layer up and "grin and bear it" for another few months. :)

  2. At least you were well wrapped up so you didn't feel the cold. It must be strange to then have to take the layers off when you get home. X

    1. Jules, I was like an old burlesque dancer! The topmost layer (jacket), came off while I walked to the bus stop. The second layer (cardigan) came off when I got to the car park. The third layer (sweater) came off in the garage, when I got home. All that was missing was the music and the bumps and grinds! LOL!

    2. This did make me laugh Bless. You'll have the appropriate music in your head the next time you do this. X

    1. Yes, I'm tempted to get a heater, myself, but, it's probably against the fire code, although I know of at least one other person who has a heater under her desk!

  4. Flabbergasted that your office is so cold that you need to wear the amount of clothes you listed and what a waste of our precious resources. It is ridiculous to say the least.

Still busy with gardening. Now eating lunch and to tell the truth glad of a sit down.

    1. Well, the thing is, I feel cold even when it is in the 70s and comfortable for other people. It is probably in the 60s in the office (I am guessing; there is no visible thermostat to check). It might be just right for someone else, but for me, that's freezing! LOL!

Sounds like you worked hard in the garden, this morning! I want to get a few things planted, but haven't done anything, yet!

  5. Hi! Your meals look good! Sorry you had to freeze at work. I like the temperature inside at 72 to 73. If I am cold at home, I can't even do housework (which has some activity of moving around) so I definitely wouldn't be able to do office work. Andrea

    1. Ha, ha, I wonder what my supervisor will have to say if I say I am unable to get any work done because it is too cold in the office! Can you imagine the look on his face? :D

  6. Goodness, Bless, it sounds like management needs to address this with the Facilities manager. Stay warm! At least you know you won't be there much longer!

    1. I've noticed that the other offices on this floor keep their doors open to the lobby and hallways - I wonder if that is to keep their offices from getting too cold? Next time I see one of the staff from those offices, I must ask them. Seems like a waste of electricity, to me, though!

I might bring it up at our next staff meeting. If not, I am going to see if I can ask one of my colleagues to block off the vent, nearest my cubicle, like we did at the old office. But, as you say, it won't be for much longer. :)

  7. 40 years ago DH owned a secondhand "Officer's Patrol Coat" which he bought in London prior to coming to Canada. It was white canvas, had a huge sheepskin collar, and was lined with some thick brown unidentified fur. We named it "Rover" I think it would have really kept you warm, plus a hat of course, but we donated it to a military museum in the end!

    1. Ha, ha, Rover would have come in handy, but it probably has a better home in the museum! :) I wore my newest sweater, today (the shades of blue and grey one that I knitted), with a blouse underneath and a cardigan over it and, in the afternoon, I draped my shawl over it all! The shawl is 100% pashmina and kept me warm.
