Finally, Friday!

Friday morning, I woke up with a start and discovered that it was already 8:00 a.m.!  I guess I forgot to set the alarm before I went to sleep, last night!  Or, I turned it off and fell into a deep sleep, but I don't have any recollection of doing that!  My first reaction was to rush in order to get to the office, as soon as possible.  But I don't do too well when I rush and get flustered.  So, I emailed my supervisor and said I was running late, but will be in by mid morning.  That way, I was able to have my coffee and not rush.  I got to work a little after 10:00 a.m.; I will use vacation time off to make up the time.

I found the entrance to the parking garage in the building and found out how much parking in the building costs:  $2.75 for the first 15 minutes; maximum $27.50 for the day.

I had a productive day.  It wasn't quite as cold in the office, today (I didn't need to wear my gloves), but it was cold enough.  By late afternoon, I had a headache, whether from the cold or from something else (chemical fumes from the new carpets and upholstered cubicle wall panels, maybe? or maybe just hunger, although I ate?) .  I came home, had a cup of tea and rested a bit; eventually, the headache went away.  But I didn't do anything very productive after I came home and I didn't stop to buy cat food.  I will need to do that, tomorrow.

Today, I am grateful for:
- Being able to go to work late, as needed
- A productive work day
- A safe commute to work and back
- A restful evening
- Video chatting with my daughter

Saturday's To Do List:
- Grocery shop
- Buy cat food
- Cook
- Call and visit aunt
- Call friend to arrange for a lunch date
- Laundry

How was your Friday?  Did you have a good day?  What are your plans for the weekend?

  1. Good for you for slowing down. I would have continued to rush and probably caused some kind of problems. As they say, "Haste makes waste."

    1. I have learned that I can't rush, any more. It takes too much of a toll on me and, after my illness, I've decided, that it's not worth it. This is another reason why I have decided that it is time for me to retire. :)

  2. Congratulations, you finally found a parking spot that costs more than a day of parking at Walt Disney World ($20 although it might have increased to $25 since I was last there in December)! That's crazy. I'm glad your headache went away and that your supervisor is understanding. Have a great weekend!

    1. Thank you, Nathalie! Parking is very expensive, downtown. Hope you are having a good weekend, yourself. :)

  3. It's good that you're able to come in a bit later. I get flustered too if running late and rushing. The last time I did that at the airport I ended up losing my passport and my green card!

That's expensive parking. Yikes. I hope the building doesn't make you feel like that all the time. That would make going to work very painful.

    Hope you enjoy your weekend!

    1. Sharon, how stressful to lose your passport and green card! I hope you recovered them without a problem!

I really don't know what caused the headache, but I hope I don't get more headaches! I might just take a bottle of Tylenol and keep at my desk!

  4. Although you called in and told your supervisor you were running late I am sure that you still felt out of sorts all day, thus the resulting headache. I do hope you were able to get a good night of sleep last night. Clearing as you say it is most definitely time to retire. Hope that retirement information meeting is very soon and if at all possible retire sooner than later.

Oddly I was not shocked by the cost of parking. What son and daughter-in-law paid to park their vehicle when living in Manhattan would have rented a small apartment here.

We continue to garden slowly but surely. Everything is looking o.k. at the moment but time will tell. Still have a few more plants to buy and then sit back and enjoy.

    1. Sandy, fortunately, I didn't have any meetings scheduled, so going in a little late didn't matter, all that much. The retirement seminar is scheduled for May 3. I have already requested that day off. Time to use up some of that vacation time I've accumulated!

I am sure your garden will come along very nicely. I haven't planted anything, yet. Every time I think I have time to go and buy some plants, I get busy doing other things or don't have the energy to go shopping for them! Maybe tomorrow.

  5. I can see that retirement must be becoming a very acceptable idea, with freezing cold offices and such expensive parking if you chose to use it. Sorry to hear that you had a headache, I hope you will feel well for the weekend.

We had a gloriously sunny day, the snow is melting, its muddy and wet in places but we are on sand so the puddles don't last too long. A friend came up with her husband who was here to collect sap, and she and I went for a long walk and chatted all the way. When we got back we all sat outside with a cup of tea, the first time this year we have been able to do this. More warm days are coming, hooray!

    1. Bushlady, it is becoming more than acceptable! LOL! I'm so glad you had a sunny day, which was warm enough for you to sit outside to enjoy a cup of tea! I bought some regular pancake syrup, today (which is probably just sugar and water with some color and flavoring added!) and thought of your pure maple syrup!
