Wednesday's Doings

Spent most of the day doing office work, today.  In between, I wiped down the kitchen counters (I'm trying to do that on a daily basis), responded to comments on my blog and commented on others blogs, and spoke with my aunt and a cousin.

In the late afternoon, I took a short break from office work to go for a walk around my block.  As I was coming back, I noticed something in the front rose bed:

Mushroom
When I went to take a picture of it, I noticed another one, just starting to push through the ground:

Baby Mushroom

I am always intrigued any time I find mushrooms growing in my garden.   :)

Later in the evening, I made a Halloween card using items I had on hand.  I was tempted to leave everything out on the dining table to make another card tomorrow, but I made myself tidy it all up!  I am determined to keep the dining table clear!

I am waiting until I mail the card to post a picture of it.  Instead, here's a picture of my succulents planter near the front door, which is ready for Halloween:

Halloween Planter

Today, I am grateful for:
- Lovely weather (sunny and in the low 80s)
- A nice walk in the warmth and sunshine
- A pleasant hour spent making a card
- Talking with my aunt and cousin
- Video chatting with my daughter

How was your Wednesday?

    1. They are a bit other-worldly, aren't they? I will post a picture of the card in the next day or two.

    1. Thanks, Nathalie. Some days, there's nothing much to write about, but, that's OK. It shows that life is slowly returning to normal. :)

    1. LOL, Debbie, thank you! That Halloween bucket was bought one year when my daughter was on her way to trick-or-treat at her piano teacher's house and we forgot to bring her pumpkin shaped bucket. Rather than go back all the way home, I pulled into a grocery store on the way and bought the bucket. It's been hanging around ever since, so, this year, it's being pressed into service as a planter! :)

  4. We had mushrooms growing between our brickwork once, very strange to see.

I'm supposed to be setting up a Halloween shelf but I can't find the decs I put away last year. No idea how I've mislaid a big black cat but I can't find it anywhere. At least we have pumpkins to carve. No chance of losing them :) xx

    1. Oh, dear! That's annoying isn't it, when we put something away somewhere and can't find it later? No doubt you'll find them when you are not looking for them; mixed up with the Christmas decorations, perhaps? Enjoy the pumpkin carving. I remember reading that last year Thomas wasn't quite up to it; hope he'll be able to carve his pumpkin this year. Don't forget to roast the pumpkin seeds for snacking on. :)

  5. I am also fascinated by mushrooms. We have such a variety that show up in the fall, some large, some tiny, some drab, some really colourful like red or yellow. I always get a kick out of the big brown ones that push their way up through the fallen leaves, creating a kind of lid of leaves at first. We haven't identified any for eating, too risky I think, but squirrels will eat certain ones and DH finds them stored on the cross beams of the woodshed!

    1. I don't know enough to identify the different types of mushrooms (with the exception of a few), let alone which ones are edible. It's amazing how animals know which ones are food and which ones are not, isn't it?

  6. The halloween planter is so cute.. Plants are pretty and green.
Look forward to seeing the card.. You make such cute ones.
I too, am trying to pick up anything I pull out.. Really helps on the cleaning time. I try to do a 10 minute pickup before going to bed. That way, the morning starts out better..smile

    1. Thanks, Judy. I think succulents are the way to go in the front garden as they stay green for the most part.
