Productive Tuesday and Tango Apples

My gardener friend brought me an apple called Tango, the other day, to try:

Tango Apple

I've tried Jazz apples before, but this is the first time I've had a Tango Apple.   Well, a SweeTango apple.

I took the pictures and ate half the apple, right away.  It was crisp, sweet, and a bit tangy.

I kept the other half in the fridge and ate it tonight.

It was a much cooler day, today.  Last week, we were warmer than average, with temperatures in the  90s.  This week, we are having cooler than average temperatures, with the highs in the 70s.  Looks like fall is on the way!

I called my office in the morning and spoke with my supervisor to bring her up to date on the status of my projects and my health.  I told her I was planning to return to work sometime next week and was basically told to return only when I felt up to it.  Absolutely no pressure from her!  I also discussed coming to the office for only three days at the beginning and she's fine with that, too.  So, I'll see how I feel next week, after the prayer meeting, etc., and take it from there.

Afterwards, I put away the washed dishes and the dried laundry from yesterday.  Stripped my bed, put the bed sheets to wash and remade my bed with a different set of sheets.  Tomorrow, I plan to launder my daughter's bed sheets.

I also confirmed tomorrow's doctor's appointment and went to the pharmacy to pick up the antibiotics that I was prescribed for the sinus infection I am having.

Later, I cleaned out the fridge (had to toss out the last of a packet of grapes) and watered the front garden.   Then, I cleared the dining table (I had stacked the paper plates, etc., that I had bought for the prayer meeting on the table and it was getting to me; I moved them to a nearby shelving unit until needed) and dusted the dining area.

After that, I started tidying and cleaning the family room.  I dusted the TV cart, the entertainment center and the computer table.  Still to do: the side tables, coffee table, book cases, and the small dining table.

  1. I've never had a Jazz or Tango apple. Pink Lady apples are favorites here but they're usually too expensive so I buy mostly Red Delicious or Gala apples.

I hope your sinus infection gets better soon! Have a great rest of your week.

    1. I like Gala and Fuji apples. I also like Golden Delicious. I don't think I've tried Pink Lady apples.

Thanks, Nathalie. It's going to be a busy rest of the week! Need to pace myself so I won't get too tired. Hope you have a lovely day.

  2. That tango apple looks nice. I like a Cox or a Russett. I think the variety of apples is wonderful! I shall definitely look out for the tango.

I'm glad that getting back to work will be okay. x

    1. I don't think I've seen either of those apples on sale, here!

I have been discussing planting an apple tree in my backyard, with my friend who does my garden. I need to research what type of apples will do best in our climate.

    2. Apples are amazing. There will be a variety that flourishes in your lovely California home in the sunshine, just as Russetts and Coxes flourish in our cold and damp. If you get a chance to try Egremont Russet, I suggest you do, the skin is almost velvety and the taste is very sweet and smooth. x

    3. Thanks for the recommendation, Lyssa. I shall look out for them, although I don't think I've ever seen them for sale, here.

  3. Sounds like a great plan to ease back in to full-time work at the office. For your produce, etc that you toss, have you considered starting compst for your garden? I did that on a small scale in the past using a large plastic, lidded trash can with holes in the sides for aeration. Worked great and was satisfying to put scraps to good use. Just a thought!

    1. I used to compost, Carolyn, but haven't been doing anything much since last year. A lot of things fell by the way side, after my diagnosis. Just wasn't up to doing anything much. Will need to start things again, gradually.

    1. Yes, the cooler temperatures are a blessing, after the heat of the summer. It was 66F inside the house this morning and a pair of socks felt good. :)
