I felt disinclined to go shopping for beverages, today. Instead, I spent the rest of the morning relaxing. Then, I forced myself to get up and get going with the cleaning. I had tidied the family room coffee table and small dining table before I went to sleep, last night; today, I finished dusting, them.
Then, I finished cleaning the guest bathroom (it was clean, because no one has used it, recently, but it was dusty).
After that, I got a bit distracted. You see, I have a wreath decorated with sea shells in my bathroom and I noticed how dusty it was. So, I took it down and washed it.

And I removed the expandable coat rack that I had hanging below the wreath - it had been my daughter's when she was a little girl; we used to hang her outfit for the day, on it. I never took it down after she outgrew it.

There were some cobwebs and dust on the wall, behind the wreath and I couldn't remove them with a broom. So, I wiped them off with a damp microfiber cloth, but that only showed up just how dusty the rest of the wall was! That's the problem with cleaning just one spot! I ended up washing the entire wall. I told myself that one wall was enough. The other walls need washing, too, but they will keep for another day. It's harder to tell that they are dusty without a clean spot in the middle for contrast!
I am glad that was cleaned, but I need to focus! As I told one of my friends, last night, I feel a bit scattered. At this rate, I'll have a clean house and nothing for the guests to drink and only a snack lunch to eat! LOL!
I had cheese and crackers for brunch, today. A turkey pot pie (from the freezer) for dinner. Grapes for dessert.
I also called my half-sister in the afternoon and spoke with her for a little bit.
In the evening, I put water to the front garden. Then, I tidied up the kitchen, a bit, washed the dishes, washed the lid of the kitchen trash bin, scrubbed the sink, etc. Later, I video chatted with my daughter.
Daughter said she almost got run over by a truck when she was crossing the street, at a marked crosswalk, with the traffic light indicating it was her right of way! The truck had stopped at the traffic light and when the sign indicated it was safe to walk, daughter stepped on to the crosswalk. She was crossing in front of the truck, when the truck driver decided to make a right turn! She said she saw the truck starting to move and she managed to spring out of the way, while the driver continued to make the turn, without stopping! She said that she felt everything was happening in slow motion when she saw the truck move! That's a bit scary! I am so thankful she wasn't hurt!
Today, I am grateful for:
- Daughter is safe, unhurt, and unharmed!

How was your day? What have you planned for tomorrow?
You're going to be exhausted! Please make sure you pace yourself and don't overdo things.
ReplyDeleteThat was scary for your daughter and I'm so relieved to hear that she wasn't hurt. Thank goodness she was paying attention and not daydreaming.
Yes, I am trying to pace myself. In fact, I feel I am going too slowly! I used to be able to clean the whole house in one day, once upon a time. But, I am already starting to feel tired, so I will continue to take it slowly.
DeleteIt was scary, when my daughter told me about it! I don't even want to think of what might have happened! Yes, she's usually very alert and aware of her surroundings when she's out and about. A good thing, too!
I'm glad to hear that your daughter is safe. The driver was clearly not paying attention.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nil. Yes, I guess he wasn't paying any attention at all, because she said she was almost right in front of him when he started to move forwards! It's too scary to think of what could have happened!
DeleteThank goodness your daughter was OK and had her wits about her. She must have had quite a fright. X
ReplyDeleteShe did, Jules. She doesn't normally swear (in fact, her high school friends all went to see her in a school play one year simply because she had to use a swear word as part of her dialog and they all wanted to hear her swear!), but she said it was her "WTF" moment of the day! LOL! It's scary to think how one minute could potentially change ones life forever!
DeleteA big truck coming right at your daughter is very scary. I'm glad she has good reflexes. Even though the truck didn't stop, I hope the driver was aware of what he did and will be more careful next time.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your continued preparations.
Yes, I'm glad she was able to jump out of the way! I hope the truck driver realized he almost knocked a pedestrian, but these days, distracted drivers are all too common.
DeleteThank you! I am going to need all the luck I can get! I always get a bit overwhelmed at the end!
What a blessing that your daughter was alert to the truck driver's error. I guess like here in Ontario you are allowed to turn right on a red light when it is safe to do so, but taking into account pedestrians as well is also important!
DeleteYou are achieving a lot with your deep cleaning and it must be very satisfying to catch up on so much at last.
Bushlady, yes, it's fine to turn right on a red light, but, pedestrians have the right of way! Anyway, "all's well that ends well" and she's OK. It just caused my heart to skip a beat when I thought of how things could have turned out!
DeleteI am getting a lot of cleaning done! Some of it is non-essential in the sense that no one else might notice. But, I've noticed it and that is enough for me to want to clean it. There is a sense of inner satisfaction to know the blinds are not dusty, the windowsill is clean, and so forth. :) Now, to keep it all maintained!
Some days you are more likely to get distracted while cleaning. It seems that while you are getting one thing washed, you are thinking that you might as well do something else that needs doing (as long as you have the wash basin out). I don't mind as long as I can keep it all contained to the room I am presently working in. After all, it is one more item accomplished.
ReplyDeleteI know how easily drivers can get when trying to keep tabs on other drivers, they tend to forget about pedestrians. I try not to cross the road until I am looking into the driver's eyes. That way, I know he sees me.
It's hard to stay focused on one cleaning task when there are at least ten more things that need cleaning!
DeleteI must tell my daughter about waiting to make eye contact with the drivers before crossing. But, these days, so many of them are looking down at a handheld device while waiting at the lights!
