Toothless Thursday

On Thursday, I went to the office for part of the day.  In the afternoon, I left work to go to my dental appointment, which was scheduled for 4:00 p.m.  I had a short wait before they called me in and then, I had more work done on the root canal tooth to get it ready for the crown and I had the extraction of the final broken tooth!  This tooth had broken off at the gumline and there was practically nothing left other than the root.  The dentist had a hard time extracting it and the procedure hurt even with the anesthesia.   I have to return next week to have the stitch taken out.

After the extraction, I was given two prescriptions to fill for antibiotics and pain medication.  I drove directly to the pharmacy; they estimated it would take them one hour to fill the prescriptions.  I elected to wait.  The pharmacy was air conditioned, there were chairs available in which to sit while I waited, and, I had access to the magazine rack!  The pharmacy workers were very kind and filled my prescription in 45 minutes.

I came home and took the anibiotics and one prescription strength ibuprofen for the pain.  I drank some chocolate flavored cold milk with the medications.  Then, I changed the dust sheets on the family room sofas and did a load of laundry.   And, I combed Dancer, who didn't appreciate it at all and scratched me for my trouble!  But I didn't do anything else on my to do list.

Thursday's To Do List:
- Go to the office - DONE
- Dental appointment/extraction - DONE
- Pharmacy for antibiotics if prescribed- DONE
- Clean out fridge and freezer
- Take a freezer inventory
- Water the houseplants
- Water the back garden
- Laundry - daughter's bed sheets - DID THE SOFA DUST SHEETS, instead.

I will continue to work on this To Do List on Friday, as well.

Thursday's Decluttering:
- 1 pre-molar tooth!
- 1 empty coffee creamer container
- 2 empty flea spray containers
- 2 empty pill containers
- 1 glass bottle
= 7 items

On Thursday, I was grateful for:
- Getting long postponed dental work done
- Pain medications
- Magazines to read while waiting at the pharmacy
- Phone calls from family and friends
- video chatting with my daughter

How was your Thursday?

  1. Good job decluttering the broken tooth. I'm sure that took enough out of you that it was okay that the To Do list wasn't finished.

    Hope it's feeling better today.

    1. Thank you, Live and Learn! I'm feeling better, today. I did take another pain pill before I went to sleep and will take another if I need it, later, today, but I think I should be OK after that. I am to start rinsing with salt water, today.

  2. I love how you put your tooth on the decluttering list. It's just typical of you to put a positive spin on it. 😃
It must have been very unpleasant having the extraction. Make sure you take things easy until you are fully healed. X

    1. The dentist had a hard enough time trying to get me to declutter it, though! LOL. I am taking it fairly easy, today, but I am expecting a delivery of a new appliance, so there are a few things I must do to get ready for it. But I'll be fine, I'm sure. Hope all is well with you. Did Lily start school, yet? Hope first day of school went/will go well for her.

  3. I'm glad that is done! But I guess the crown comes next! I put off a crown for a while and finally agreed to let my dentist put one in so I will be going for that in a few weeks. This is what happens when our teeth age! (of course we don't age..right?! ha)
I have a total of about 5 or 6 crowns and 2 root canals. I can say that through time modern technology has made this easier to get done. My second root canal was easier than the first even. Well rest now! Andrea

    1. The modern technology in dental work is amazing! The dentist used a computer when doing the root canal to measure how long the root canals were, how well they were filled, etc. My step-father was a dental surgeon - I wish he was alive to see all the modern dental technology.

Good luck with getting your crown done.

  4. Bless, I feel so bad that I forgot you were going to the dentist yesterday and didn't send you good vibes! But it sounds like you handled it like a pro. I hope you're not in too much pain. Did he give you another injection when you signaled that you had pain during the procedure? I had the same problem and then he shot me up again. You did much better resting than I did :)

    Have a good weekend.

    1. Oh, Nathalie, please don't feel bad. You have plenty and more on your mind with worrying about the hurricane! I wouldn't have expected you to remember my tooth extraction!

Yes, I think he gave me an additional injection, but I'm not sure. But, whatever he gave me wore out fairly quickly. However, I am feeling OK, now.

I am watching news and they are saying that Irma is now a Cat. 4 - hope it will be downgraded again by the time it reaches you.

    2. It's supposed to be a cat 2 when it reaches us, cat 1 whe it reaches my daughter. The track has again moved slightly west so now there's predicting that the eye will indeed come right over us. Not that it matters much, the storm and its center are so large (something like twice the size of Andrew, at least!) that there will be widespread damage in Central Florida no matter what. I'm exhausted about all the worrying that I have been doing for a whole week and it'll be another 48 hours before we start getting the bad winds (which we should get for about 6 hrs, they're predicting 100 MPH) and I just want it to be over. Our school district just announced that our schools will be closed "until further notice". Our gas station had run out of gas this morning, they're letting people drive on the left shoulder in parts of I-75 which is crazy dangerous when you realize how dotted with pieces of exploded truck tires Florida interstates and roadways's shoulders always are! I'm amazed that they haven't opened up the Southbound lanes to Northbound traffic yet, but maybe it's because of the trucks that are still reprovisioning us. Anyhoo, I'm still glad I'm not stuck on the road with 6 cats and nowhere to go as now Tampa's Zone A is under mandatory evacuation too, Georgia's coasts are being evacuated as well... and the storm is supposed to head into NC and TN anyway. That really doesn't leave many options for those leaving the state, IMO, unless they go far up North. And there is a serious issue with cars running out of gas everywhere.

    3. Will continue to hope for the best and your safety (as well as the safety of all the others). They are saying there are two other hurricanes, following Irma. :(

  5. You know the funny thing about to-do lists is that most things can truly wait for tomorrow, or even the next day is the day get crazy.

    1. Anne, you are right. Some of the items on my to do lists are definitely items that can be done another day. And not everything is a must do, either.

  6. I am so happy to see another giant step forward in getting your teeth sorted out. You were very brave. Once all is done I so want to encourage you to have regular check ups so that little problems can be addressed before they get out of control.

Hubby and I had a dinner with program to attend Thursday evening. Made a nice change and we both indulged in a slice of cherry pie!

    1. Sandy, yes, I had put off dental work for too long. Paying the price for that now.

Good to hear that you were able to indulge in some cherry pie! Sounds like a perfect way to end a dinner. :)

    1. Thank you, Judy. Trying to rest - had to do a few things in the morning in preparation for the delivery of a new fridge/freezer and I think I did too much! The extraction site started to bleed rather profusely. It has stopped now and I am resting!

  8. You are getting there slowly but surely with your dental treatment Bless. Not long now and it will all be over and done with.

I think I may need a filling next time I visit the dentist. I had x-rays when I went last time and she asked me if one of my teeth was troubling me. It wasn't so she said she'd leave it and check again at the next appointment. It's not hurting but it's become sensitive to hot and cold so I'm guessing something isn't quite right. Not relishing the thought of a filling at all - the older I get the worse I am with anything like that.

Hope the pain has eased off for you. xx

    1. Suzanne, it does sound like you might need some dental work done, as well. Don't wait until it becomes a big project like I did! My mouth didn't hurt too much, today, but there was a little pain and I took another ibuprofen and rinsed with salt water. I think I should be fine by tomorrow.

    2. Wise advice which I'm going to heed :) I have a routine appointment the first week of October and I was going to leave it until then, but I've changed my mind and will be ringing her tomorrow. Thank you. You've confirmed what I know I really need to do. xx
