On Friday, I had my appointment with the oncology nurse practitioner for a routine check up and bone density booster injection. My appointment was scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and I left the house a little before 12:00 noon. I got to the clinic at exactly 1:00 p.m. There was about a 10 minutes wait before I got called in to be seen. The examination went well, but, there was a bit of a delay to get the injection. As a result, it was past 3:00 p.m. when I left the clinic. The good news is, I have officially lost 5 lbs. since my last visit which as at the end of May. Not a phenomenal weight loss, but, I'll take it! I still need to lose a little more weight but the goal seems more attainable now.
It was 4:00 p.m. by the time I got home and I was tired. But, the dermatologist's office had messaged me asking me to call or text back to make an appointment, and I wanted to get that done right away so it wouldn't be hanging over me over the long weekend. So, I called right away and set up the appointment. The earliest they had available was mid-September and I took it.
After that, I was ready to relax and eat something, as I hadn't eaten in the morning before I left for the oncology nurse appointment; just a cup of tea. Daughter had already eaten bread and chicken curry for brunch, so I warmed up a frozen burrito and ate half of it. Later in the night, daughter made us a salad and I had a scrambled egg with a slice of toast while daughter ate the other half of the burrito.
M was here in the evening and he tended to the garden, watering it and tidying it up a bit.
Later in the evening, I did two more loads of laundry, including my Fan quilt.
I had planned to vacuum and put the living room back in order on Friday, but, I was too tired to do so. It was a warm day, with a high in the low 90s and even with the drapes closed to keep the setting sun out, the living room was hot and stuffy. My plan is to vacuum it on Saturday morning.
On Friday, I was grateful for:
- Access to medical care
- Health insurance
- A safe drive to the clinic and back
- M's help with the garden
- Losing 5 lbs.
Friday's joyful activity was having a phone chat with my aunt.
Plans for Saturday include tidying up the living room, putting away the washed quilts and blankets, and taking daughter to her friend's apartment to spend the afternoon together and picking her up, later.
How was your Friday? What are your plans for the holiday weekend?
I followed your link to the fan quilt and it was interesting to learn about how you got into quilting. Glad your appointment went well, though long. I had an eye appointment yesterday and it was 2 1/2 hours before I got out of there. They always seem too busy.
ReplyDeleteI hated sewing when I was a child, when it was a weekly class to be endured at school, but, when I was about 15 or 16, I became very interested in embroidery and, later, patchwork and quilting.
DeleteDoctor's appointments can take a long time, but, I'm thankful for the fact that they are still accessible. There are so many places in the world where there are few doctors and medical facilities available.
The fan quilt is another beautiful quilt! Congratulations on the weight loss! Every bit helps.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Celie. The fan quilt is one of my favorites. :)
DeleteMy weight seems to fluctuate within a 5 lb. range when I weigh myself at home on my analog scale, but, I always use the higher number when I'm asked how much I weigh on medical forms, etc. Daughter has brought her digital scale with her, and once we put new batteries in it, I should be able to weigh myself more accurately at home. :)
After a few really cool nights and fairly cool days, I've forgotten what "hot and stuffy" is like! I looked up your fan quilt, it is another lovely creation.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Bushlady.
DeleteSometimes, when it is really hot in the summer and I find myself wishing it was slightly cooler, I tell myself that I will be wishing for the hot summer days when I am cold in the winter. I wish we could bottle up the warm summer heat to release in the winter and vice versa.
5 pounds weight loss is good. Great job 👏 on the fan quilt as well.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda. :)
DeleteSo glad your appointment went well. I also need to make a dermatologist appointment soon. Your fan quilt is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mandy. :)
