On Friday

"Why do I have to go to the Vet's Clinic?"

On Friday, Dancer had an appointment for his Solensia injection and had to be sedated and taken to the vet's clinic.  He did not like getting the sedative which I syringe into his mouth; more got on me than in him, I think, but, I got at least some of it in him.  I remembered to give him the sedative an hour before we had to leave and that helped.  Daughter had to coax him out from under the sofa where he was hiding and put him into his carrier.  He protested about it and the car ride, but, he was relatively good until he threw up about halfway to the clinic.  The technician was very kind and offered to clean him up, but, I think most of it got on the towel I used to line the bottom of his carrier.

He received his injection and I made the next appointment, which will include an examination by the vet, as well.  We came home without an incident but, once we got home, he made a beeline to daughter's room, passing the litter box on the way, and left her a present in the corner by her bookcase!  I guess he got his revenge on her for putting him in the carrier, earlier!  I cleaned it up.  Going outside the litter box seems to be occurring on a fairly regular basis, these days.  Poor kitty is having issues.

It was another hot day, but, we didn't put the a/c on and managed with the fans.

Later in the evening, M tended to the garden and watered it.  He shared some figs and grapes he had received from one of his other clients; the figs were delicious.

I made egg salad sandwiches for a late brunch and dinner was leftover rice and smoked sausage stir fry.

On Friday, I was grateful for:

- Vet care for Dancer
- A safe drive to the vet's clinic and back (I'm not just saying this, but, I passed by three accidents on the way back from the vet's clinic and it's not that long of a drive)
- M's help with the garde
- Water for the garden
- Working fans and the electricity to run them

Friday's joyful activity was relaxing and chatting with my daughter.

Plans for the weekend include ordering and picking up groceries on Saturday and more unpacking of daughter's boxes.

How was your Friday?  What are your plans for the weekend?

  1. Poor old "puddytat", and poor you and your daughter with the revenge afterwards!
Our weather forecast said the rain would stop later this morning, What rain? I noticed a few spots but that was it. I guess we were out of the way of that weather system!

    1. I know; poor old "puddytat" (and poor me and daughter, too!) But, he was a good kitty, this morning, and used the litter box and was highly praised for it.
Maybe the rain rained itself out before it reached you! I was actually quite surprised by the sound of a few drops of rain, this morning! I think we had about 15 drops of rain! It's the most rain we've had since May, I believe.

  3. Bless maybe it is the kitty litter you are using for Dancer's box. Often with certain kidney & diabetes disease, kitties experience discomfort/pain in their paws from the harsh clay or silicone kitty litter. One of our kitties required us to switch to the newspaper pellets & that cleared up the outside the litter box issues. Just a thought.

    1. Thank you, Mary-Lou. He seems to be fine with going to the litter box to pee, but, he seems to want to poo outside the box. It's not every time, but, it's been happening often enough. I do have an appointment with the vet for an examination and I'll bring it up with her. In the meantime, I will try the newspaper pellets and see if that works. :)

  4. Poor Dancer, he does look rather forlorn. It's such a shame that the vets visits are quite an ordeal for the both of you. Xx

  5. Oh my. Well that all sounds pretty hard to deal with for all concerned ----especially in the heat.
I'm sure you were glad to get home and after you cleaned up your daughter's room, I hope you sat down and took it easy.
Anyway you can inject him yourself?

    1. There was some grumbling and muttering, but, what can one do? The injections are something that a technician is supposed to administer. I don't think I could handle it, even if I was told I could do so.
