"Hello Blog Friends" |
Dancer says hello to all his blog friends, up close and personal!
This week is a week of medical appointments for me. On Monday, I had a blood test. On Tuesday, I had a doctor's appointment. On Wednesday, I had a dentist appointment and, on the way back, I picked up Dancer's medication refills from the pharmacy. On Thursday, I need to call to make another dental appointment with a different dentist I was referred to and make an appointment with a dermatologist. On Friday, I have an appointment with the oncology nurse practitioner. I still need to make an appointment to have my eyes checked for new glasses as that's something else I have been putting off doing.
In between medical appointments and filling out forms for said appointments, I have done a few household tasks including watering the back garden and the indoor plants, doing several loads of laundry as daughter unpacks her boxes and takes out quilts and blankets, some meal planning and cooking, etc. I've been trying to keep up with the general housework, but, feeling very slightly overwhelmed.
Daughter has been busy unpacking her boxes and we decided we needed more storage to house everything, so, we've ordered a shelving unit and another sideboard for the family room which is in the process of being turned into a crafts room, as well, because it is the room where we prefer to sit in and do crafts. The spare bedroom has become even more of a storage room and will remain so until we can get the rest of the house organized. Combining the contents of two households is a bit of a challenge, right now.
The new furniture should be delivered next week and once daughter assembles the items, we will rearrange the family room. Then, we will most probably sort out the kitchen to make room for daughter's kitchen appliances, such as her air fryer.
Mid-week, I am grateful for:
- Access to health care
- Safe drives to various appointments and back
- Dancer's medications are available
- Daughter's help with some computer-related matters
- M's help with the garden
Joyful activities have included exchanging emails and phone calls with friends, reading, time spent in the garden.
How is your week coming along?
Combining two households worth of "things" is never easy.
ReplyDeleteYes; I decluttered some before daughter returned home and I anticipate decluttering even more over the next few weeks as we decide which duplicates to keep or donate. :)
DeleteWhew that is a lot of appointments.
ReplyDeleteCombining households is never easy is it? But the effort is so very worth it.
It's been a busy week, that's for sure!
DeleteCombining households is not easy, but, it is very worth it. Most of the duplicates are kitchen items and I have already tossed a couple of my older kitchen items in favor of daughter's newer items. I anticipate more will go once we get to sorting out the kitchen.
Exhausting but full of joy! I have stroked donkeys, picked beans, and have a morning of sewing ahead of me...
ReplyDeleteSounds wonderful!
DeleteYou've had a lot going on recently, Bless, so it's not surprising that you're feeling overwhelmed. Rest if you need to. Those tasks will always wait.
ReplyDeleteThis week, I'm tying to focus on getting back into a routine before I head back to work on Monday. I've got quite used to being at home :)
I hope your test results are okay. Xx
Thank you, Jules. This has been a particularly busy week for me. I hope you are having a relaxing week before going back to work. :)
DeleteI imagine it is overwhelming trying to combine two households. But slow and steady wins the race. You'll get there soon. I like the idea of a dedicated craft space since you are both very crafty people.
ReplyDeleteYou are right, June; slow and steady wins the race. My mother used to be fond of that saying. :) I get decision fatigue when it comes to decluttering, so I have to take it in stages, but, we'll get there. :)
DeleteHi Dancer!
ReplyDeleteNothing like getting all the medical stuff done in the same week and over with! When all the medical and household organizing is done, you will be able to sit back and breathe a sigh of relief!
Yes, Bushlady, better to get all the appointments lined up and get them done and over with; then I can relax. Although, I can see that the dental work might go on for several weeks or months.
DeleteSuch a busy week. It will be so lovely having your daughter living with you. I found that my 2 daughters became my best friends as they got older.
ReplyDeleteIt has been a bit busier than I like, but, it made the week go by quickly. It's wonderful to have daughter back home with me. She was supposed to have been gone for just two years to get her master's degree. She was to come home afterwards, but, she was offered a job for one year at a place where she was doing an internship, and I told her to take it to get paid work experience as it would help when looking for another job once she came home. It was supposed to have been for only one year, but, they renewed her contract and she stayed on. But, she did plan to come home, eventually and now, it has happened. :)
DeleteLots of appointments. It's a good feeling when you get it all behind you. Sort of like how you feel after studying for finals and walking out the door after the test is over.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, I can imagine it is a bit overwhelming combining your two households. You must be really glad you have spent the last few years decluttering. Can you imagine if you hadn't?
Too many appointments in one week! But, it was good to get them all done.
DeleteI am definitely glad I decluttered to the extent that I did beforehand! Daughter has unpacked all her boxes now and we are still in the process of finding space to put everything away. It will take some time.
