On Wednesday |
On Wednesday, I went for my lab tests in the afternoon, at 3:30 p.m. The afternoon high was 97F, according to the weather app, but, this is what the temperature gauge in the car showed when I pulled into the garage around 4:00 p.m., after the visit to the lab. Admittedly, the asphalt on the road gets heated.
M was here in the early afternoon, on Wednesday, before I left for my lab tests and he watered the garden. Not the ideal time of day to water the garden when it is so hot, but, it is when he has time for my garden on Wednesdays as he has other clients in the morning and later in the evening. He promised he will do more weeding once the weather has cooled a bit. I told him to do it at his convenience.
The rest of Wednesday was spent relaxing and taking it easy. Daughter had a headache, although she worked through it. Later, she made us a fruit smoothie using a banana, frozen strawberries and frozen peaches, for dessert.

On Thursday - Indoors |
We went up to 97F again, today (Thursday), too. This was the temperature inside the house; about 85F/29C. I was comfortable at that temperature, but, daughter had a headache, again, so, after she finished work for the day, we put the a/c on in the bedroom and relaxed there. In fact, I took a nap!
Plans for Friday include taking Dancer for his Solensia injection in the afternoon. Poor kitty is not going to like it!
Today, I am grateful for:
- Working fans and other appliances
- The room air conditioning unit
- Electricity to run the appliances
- Afternoon/evening naps
- Libraries
Today's joyful activity was reading one of my library books.
How was your Thursday? What are your plans for Friday?
That's hot! (Whether or not it was humid.) The heat is probably contributing to your daughter's headaches. I hope she does better with them.
ReplyDeleteIt is hot, isn't it? Daughter was wondering if the headaches were a side effect of a new medication she is taking (apparently it is listed as a possible side effect), but, she said she didn't have a headache today. It was equally hot, today, too, but we didn't put the a/c on; maybe she's getting more used to the heat (it was in the high 50s and mid 60s when she left Berkeley).
DeleteYour mention of the road asphalt being heated reminded me that there are some countries so hot that planes can only take off or land in the middle of the night because the tarmac is melting in the day!
ReplyDeleteYes, the surfaces of the roads do get hot from the heat. But, M, too, said that the temperature went up to 100F on Wednesday.
DeleteI'm not surprised that you're grateful for air conditioning, Bless. Even though it's still very warm here, the evenings are becoming a little cooler, as we move towards late summer.
ReplyDeleteI hope all goes well with your impending visit to the vets. Xx
I'm very thankful, Jules, to have the option of putting on the a/c in the bedroom. Enjoy the rest of summer; there's just one more month before autumn is here, isn't it?
DeleteThe trip to the vet's wasn't without its share of the usual drama, but, it went well enough. Someone was very naughty after he came home, though!
That is too hot inside and outside for me! Does your daughter not have a room air conditioner also? I keep my house in summer at 75F! I looked up the Amy Tan book you mentioned recently on my library website, they have two ebook copies with 54 holds! I'll think about buying it.
ReplyDeleteI am generally okay with temperatures being under 90F inside the house. Which is why it surprised me, earlier, when I wanted the a/c on in my room. Daughter doesn't have an a/c in her room, but, we might consider getting one for her room. There is also some talk of us switching rooms, again. 75F is what I would like to keep the house at in the winter, but, I usually keep it at 70F due to the cost of natural gas.
DeleteSounds like there is a big demand for the Amy Tan book! Maybe request the book as a Christmas or birthday gift?
Wow, that is hot 🔥 After my fall on Thursday I fully intend to take things easy this weekend, Bless. Pottering and crafting I think.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend. I hope your Daughter's headache has gone now. The heat doesn't help, does it 😒
Angie
That is what our summers are like, Angie. Hot and dry. It does cool off in the evenings, though.
DeleteI hope you recover well from the fall and have a lovely weekend of taking it easy, relaxing and crafting. :)
Oh my that sounds so hot and uncomfortable. So glad you had M put in your A/C and you and your daughter have a place to escape to.
ReplyDeleteI hope it's cooled down a bit for you. Things have cooled off here nicely.
Now that your daughter's home, that should help with getting Dancer in the cage and in the car. 4 hands being better than 2, right?
Actually, it is still quite hot right now. September is usually one of our hotter months.
DeleteHaving daughter home is very helpful with managing Dancer's stuff. It took both of us to give him a pill, the other day, and we still only got maybe half the pill into him! LOL.
