On Sunday

Plumeria

The plumeria cutting that M gave me is flowering for the first time.  Such a pretty pink color, too.

Daughter continued to unpack her boxes and find homes for her belongings.  I did some laundry, including some of the blankets and quilts she brought home.  We are not going to need all the bedding, but, I can use some of them for sofa dust covers, quilt backings and batting substitutes, and other projects.

Other than that, it was a fairly relaxed day.  I made blueberry pancakes for brunch, with homegrown blueberries from the freezer.  Later, for dinner, I went slightly off the meal plan and made a pasta alfredo using a boxed mix, boiled a little frozen green peas, and cooked the frozen shrimp I had bought on sale last week, boiling the shrimp first and then, sauteeing them in some butter, garlic powder, and a little dried parsley flakes.  It made a delicious meal for two, with enough leftover for a brunch for one person, for about $8 ($1 for the boxed pasta mix; $5 for the bag of frozen shrimp, maybe $1 for the green peas, butter, milk for the pasta sauce, and seasonings, and $1 for the gas to cook the meal).  Daughter really like the shrimp and I will definitely buy it again, if it goes on sale for that price, again (it's currently on sale for $7.00; reg. price $7.99).   Afterwards, daughter put away the leftovers and I did the dishes.

Sunday Dinner

On Sunday, I was grateful for:
- Another fairly cool day with highs in the low 80s
- Phone calls and emails from friends
- Working appliances
- Electricity and gas to power the appliances
- Chatting with my daughter and making plans

Sunday's joyful activity was relaxing.

Plans for Monday include:
- Some paperwork
- Cleaning out the fridge
- Taking the trash cans to the curb
- Watering the garden
- Folding and putting away laundry
- Meal planning

How was your Sunday?  What are your plans for Monday?

    1. 80F is very comfortable to me. :) Currently, at 12:25 p.m. on Monday, it is 84F/29C and "feels like" 92F/33C according to the weather app. Today's high is supposed to be 87F/30C (not quite sure what it is supposed to "feel like"). But, Thursday will be the hottest day this week and we're supposed to go up to 96F/36C; it will feel warmer than that, though.

  2. The plumeria blooms are pretty. I looked up the plant and it's too cold here for it. Also, they use it to make leis in Hawaii. :)

    1. They are very pretty, aren't they? One of my neighbors has several large plumeria plants growing in the front garden and they are so pretty. I've not had success growing them in my front garden (gets too hot), but, this one is doing well at the back. Yes, they do use the flowers for leis in Hawaii. :)

  5. I think plumeria is so pretty.
It is more fun to plan meals for two than one, especially to have a little help after the meal.

    1. I agree, plumerias are very pretty. They remind me of my childhood garden; my mother grew several different colored plumeria.

    1. It is a very pretty flower, isn't it? Maybe daughter and I can do a painting session one day and paint plumerias! :)
The shrimp dish turned out very well; not the most authentic shrimp alfredo, but, close enough and easy. :)

    1. Thank you, Jules. Plumeria is one of my favorite flowers.
I was very pleased with how that pasta dinner turned out. We like pasta, almost as much as we like rice. :)

    1. Thank you, Debra. The shrimp was good, but, now I am wondering if they were part of the radioactive shrimp that was recalled! If they were, it's too late now to do anything about it! So far, though, daughter and I are not glowing in the dark, so, I'm assuming we are safe! :D
