Rain Drops on Blurry Peach Blossoms |
It rained quite a bit, last night, but, this morning was sunny. Then, by the afternoon, the clouds moved in and it rained again!
I called the doctor's office first thing in the morning and asked them to call in a new prescription to the pharmacy, explaining that I had just enough medication for today's dose. I don't usually wait until the last minute like this, but, things got put off just before Christmas when I was worried about my daughter getting Covid, etc. and I got behind with my regular tasks.
Then, I did a load of laundry thanks to Dancer who had left a present for me on my bathmat even though his litter box was only a foot or so away. And I dusted (living room, dining area, family room), swept (kitchen and bathroom), and watered the houseplants.
I waited till one o'clock and called the pharmacy to see if they received the new prescription order from the doctor's office. Yes, they received it, but, they claimed that it was too early to refill, that I was not due for a refill yet, and I should still have some pills left! I assured them that I didn't have any more pills, just the one pill for today. So, the pharmacy staff member said she will try to put it through again and apparently, this time, it worked! She said it will be ready for pick up in two hours.
In the meantime, I started cleaning the fridge. Halfway through that, the doctor's office called to say that the prescription was ready at the pharmacy (I guess the pharmacy notified the doctor's office? I didn't know that they did that!) Then, I received the text notification that the medication was ready for pick up. I stopped cleaning the fridge and went to the pharmacy to pick up the medication. I've been having them mail me the medications, but, this time, I didn't want to wait the two or three days that takes. I wore my mask and although most of the people shopping at the pharmacy weren't wearing masks, the pharmacy staff were masked. I didn't do any additional shopping at the pharmacy; just picked up my medication and came home!
It started to rain just as I was leaving the house and it was raining quite steadily when I came home! But, the rain ceased after I got home! LOL.
I finished cleaning the main part of the fridge after I came home - the shelves and the drawers. But, I didn't get to the shelves on the door - I was going to do them after I watched the evening news, but, I didn't. So, that will be done tomorrow.
I had a couple of items to toss from the fridge - one was half a jar of apple sauce that had been in the fridge for a long time and the other was a piece of cheese that had got moldy. There were also some old lemons and one mandarin that had started to spoil - they went to the compost heap.
Later, I took the trash cans and the recycling bin to the end of the driveway for pickup tomorrow.
What I didn't do was the freezer inventory; that, too, will be on tomorrow's to do list.
Still later, I chatted with friend R and video chatted with my daughter.
Brunch had been some gyoza/pot stickers from the freezer; dinner was leftover salmon, leftover half a baked potato, and some green peas from the freezer. I topped the baked potato with some of the leftover green relish that came as a dipping sauce with the samosas. Mandarins for dessert.
Today, I am grateful for:
- The doctor's office called in the refill to the pharmacy promptly
- The pharmacy was able to fill the prescription (after the initial confusion that it was too soon to refill)
- The availability of medications
- Insurance to help pay for the medications
-A safe drive to the pharmacy and back
Today's joyful activity was collecting my medication!
Tuesday's To Do List:
- Clean the fridge door shelves
- Freezer inventory
- Dust and tidy my bedroom
How was your Monday? What are your plans for Tuesday?

I'm glad you were able to have your medication the same day, that must have been a worry when they said you had enough pills when you knew you hadn't. I have experienced similar confusion with my husband's repeat prescriptions and it became so frequent I changed chemists now all is well.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Eileen; I usually don't let things get to that point where I am out of medications (I have automatic refills on most of my medications, anyway). But, this time, I let things slide. I am very thankful that they were able to fill the new prescription, after that initial confusion!
DeleteA very productive, rainy day. Are you buckets filling up again?
ReplyDeleteYes, it was a productive day, wasn't it? My buckets have about 3 inches of water collected in them! The smaller blue and white vase was almost full though and I used some of that water to water the pea seedlings we planted in the front garden - they were planted close to the trellis but, they are under the roof overhang so they don't always get the rain!
DeleteThe shenanigans at your pharmacy are so strange you could almost make a board game out of them! I'm glad you were able to fetch the medication you needed.
ReplyDeleteYou remind me that I need to clean my fridge. I have been using up items that were taking up space. I have some mincemeat to use, which will remove another jar.
I think the pharmacy staff is overworked! I have been getting my medications delivered by another pharmacy which changed their name at the end of the year, and although they sent me a letter that all my prescriptions will be changed over, I think they might have missed this one! Anyway, I am very thankful that I was able to get the prescription filled right away!
DeleteWhat will you make with the mincemeat? My fridge is full of jars of various things that need to be used up! That might be my challenge for February!
I mixed the mincemeat with some applesauce and made a pie, and now I have a jar of applesauce in the fridge to use up!
DeleteOh, that pie sounds wonderful! Ha, ha, you use up one thing and then, that gives you something else to use up! Applesauce spice cake sounds good to me, or, maybe you can just eat the applesauce. :)
DeleteI find it odd that the pharmacy would query filling a prescription that the doctor has authorised. Thankfully, I've never had that problem.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear you have had some more rain and it sounds like you had a productive day xx
The pharmacy doesn't usually query the prescriptions, but, they need to put it through their computer system to get authorization from insurance. It is possible that the person inputting it made a mistake, because I have another prescription on file with them that is not yet due for a refill; maybe they didn't realize that this was a new prescription. Which is why I usually call to follow up!
DeleteOh good - I'm glad your prescription was entered and filled right away since you were down to your last dose. All taken care of now.
ReplyDeleteThat's funny that it rained for your trip but stopped when you got home. lol
Reading through I see you collected some more rain water.
Good for you. It all helps. That's my motto anyway.
Thank you, Debra; yes, I now have a 3 months supply of that particular medication and a refill...I'll just call and remind them a week or so before I run out of pills! Isn't it funny how it rained just while I was out? I'm glad I collected more rain water; every little bit does help. :)
DeleteA glimpse of a blossom is always cheering, isn't it. Cleaning the fridge is something I hate to do, as there are always unwelcome surprises, because I don't do it often enough.
ReplyDeleteYou are very kind, Susanne. I can't seem to get my phone camera to focus!
DeleteI try to clean the fridge (or, at least, go through it) on a weekly basis, but, thoroughly cleaning the shelves and wiping down the door shelves, etc., doesn't get done as often!
