Sunday

Outdoor Play Station

My daughter made full use of the computer desk which has been put outside to set up a computer games playing station for herself and neighbor S's daughters, N and C, who came over to play, this afternoon!  They sat outside, with chairs placed as far apart as the space allowed and they were still able to see the TV screen, and wore masks.  I loved the fact that these three girls, young women, actually, who grew up together (N is two years older than my daughter and C is two years younger) still find ways to get together and play.  Daughter wants me to hold off on calling for the bulky item pick up, saying she can sit outside and use the computer table as her work desk on days when the weather is nice.  I'm fine with that.

Today was another warm, sunny day.  We are supposed to have cooler weather, next week, however.

I put away my laundry from yesterday, dusted the living room, dining area, and family room, did the dishes, spoke with neighbor S, cousin P, and friend R, and watched some pantry challenge type videos online.  I watered the indoor plants, but, decided to wait until tomorrow to water the vegetable seedlings as they seemed to be doing well when I checked on them, today (don't want to overwater them!).

My daughter and I had ordered some supplies from the fabric store, the other day, and the package was delivered, today!  I received two queen sized polyester quilt battings, three reels of all purpose white thread, and a reel of all purpose black thread!  My daughter received a type of paint brush she had wanted, some cotton yarn, and embroidery floss.  We were both very pleased with our purchases.  The quilt battings are for two quilt tops I have pieced; one of which will be given as a holiday (New Year) gift, if all goes well and I can get it done!  The thread is to have on hand for my sewing.  In case you didn't notice it, I didn't order any fabric!  LOL.

Today, I am grateful for:

- Daughter was able to have two friends over for an afternoon visit, outdoors, masked
- A sunny, warm day
- Working appliances
- Leftovers for meals
- Deliveries of new crafts supplies

Today's joyful activity was watching some videos online.

Monday's To Do List:

- Clean the fridge
- Take trash cans to the curb for Tuesday trash pick up
- Dust my bedroom
- Water the garden
- Vacuum
- Cook a ground beef curry

How was your Sunday?  What are your plans for Monday?

  1. The outdoor area looks good and what a great idea your daughter had to use the computer desk and enjoy playing games with her friends. You'll both be busy now doing your craft projects which sound nice. We had a run out yesterday to look for the venue where the Covid jabs will be given then we took the pup on the beach and hubby and I drank takeaway cups of coffee in the car, it was a nice afternoon.

    1. Thank you, Eileen. I don't use my outdoor spaces as much as I could, but, there is space to make a nice little patio, out there. Daughter is already crocheting a project. I am procrastinating, which is what I do best! :D

That sounds like a very nice afternoon, Eileen. I'm glad you were able to take Tilly to the beach and enjoy some coffee. :)

  2. Hats off to the young ladies coming up with ways to play together & stay safe. Well done you not adding any fabric to the order (col). Being able to work out doors on warm sunny days will certainly be a bonus - new life for the computer table.

    1. It was a good solution to getting together while minimizing the risks, wasn't it? Daughter is out there, right now, working at her out door office! :D She'll miss that when she goes back to her apartment.

    2. Oh, and I meant to say, thank you for commending me for not buying any fabric! LOL. My fabric stash is far from being used up!

  3. Visiting outside with friends sounds like fun and I guess you don't have to worry too much about rain and the need to rush indoors with the computer equipment. The pandemic has brought out a lot of new ways to do things.

Have fun with all of your new stuff from the fabric store. I look forward to seeing your creations.

    1. We are still enjoying a late summer, so, spending time outside with friends is very pleasant. Today is another sunny and warm day, but, it's supposed to get cooler and cloudy from tomorrow. No rain in the forecast, however, at least until the end of the month!

I'm looking forward to finishing up the quilt now that I have the batting on hand! I think you've already seen the quilt top, but, I'll post it again when I'm done. :)

  4. The outdoor workstation sounds wonderful, although I'm not sure that I'd get much work done if it was me!

Well done on resisting the urge to buy more fabric to add to your stash ... there's always next time 😂😂 Fingers are crossed that you are able to finish the quilt in time to gift at New Year.

    1. Well, she's out there, working, right now, as I type this, so, I guess she likes it. I told her to enjoy it as much as she can between now and when she has to go back to her apartment. :)

Oh, it was hard to resist buying more fabric, but, I reminded myself that I still have plenty in my stash! Thank you, I need to get busy on that quilt!

  5. That looks like a very pleasant and safe set up for your daughter and her friends, and working outside sounds good, too.
Enjoy your new supplies. I hope you can get that quilt finished in time for the New Year gift.

    1. I think it was the safest way for her to get together with her friends. Or, at least, the least risky way! Daughter has been spending the morning working out there, today. It enabled me to vacuum without disturbing her. :)

Thank you; I am going to try to finish the quilt in time. I had been trying to finish it with some batting that I had, which wasn't wide enough, and although I patched a piece to it, I was not happy with it. I think having the new batting will help. :)

  7. What a great idea your daughter employed for an outdoor area. It's so nice her friends were able to join her.
I wonder which cat will be lying on the top of it first? lol

That's nice you are happy with your purchase from the fabric store. And you showed such restraint as far as not buying the fabric too ;)

    1. It was a good outdoor set up for them and worked well. Oh, I spotted Mama Cat sitting on the top of the table, last night! LOL.

I was very good with the fabric store order, wasn't I? LOL. I might still live to see the end of my fabric stash at this rate! :D

  9. What a fun way to work on the computer--a desk outside. Wouldn't work here unless you were an Eskimo. I think our high today might have got above freezing. Regular heat wave coming the next two days though-We are supposed to get up to 40F.
Hope you have a great week. xo Diana

    1. It has been in the 90s, here, this past week. Cooler temperatures are in the forecast for this week, but, that's cooler as in highs in the mid 70s. :D I don't miss Wisconsin winters!
