Relaxed Thursday

A cloudy and cooler day, today, with a high of only 73F.  I slept in this morning and took it easy because I felt just a little tired, probably a side effect of the booster dose?  My daughter encouraged me to relax and so, I did!  I did do two loads of laundry, just to feel I was productive, as I told my daughter.  She just shook her head at me!  LOL.

I called neighbor T to check on her and I called neighbor S to ask her if she'd like some of the tomato soup I had made, but, she declined saying tomatoes give her heartburn.  Later in the evening, I called friend R and had a chat with her.

Today, I managed to put together a small gift for a friend's daughter using things I had on hand!  A long time ago, I had seen and bought sets of tiny, painted terra cotta pots; each set consisted of three pots on a small tray.  I use one set on my desk to hold paper clips, etc.  Today, I paired one set with three tea light candles.  Wrapped in tissue paper and tied with a matching colored ribbon, it made a little "thinking of you" gift for her, with the added bonus of enabling me to declutter a couple of items I had in my "Stash"!

Today, I am grateful for:

- Good health and being alive
- A working heater
- Other working appliances
- My "Stash" for a quick gift
- Online videos to watch

Today's joyful activity was chatting on the phone with friends.

Plans for tomorrow include paperwork and tending to the garden with M.

How was your Thursday?  What are your plans for Friday?

  1. So glad you didn't experience any adverse effects from your booster. And I'm sure you feel happy and relieved you got it. I got my 2nd dose on Tuesday and spent the entire day in bed on Wednesday. I was told the 2nd dose could make you a little sick, but boy I wasn't expecting that kind of misery. There was nothing I didn't get; fever, chills, body aches, sweats, nausea, headache. Just glad it didn't last more than one day, and glad it's behind me. But they do say you know it's working when you get all those symptoms, so there's that. LOL! Glad you were able to put a gift together for your friend's daughter. I've done that many times. Most people can do that with things they have on hand. Denise

    1. Thank you, Denise. I'm so sorry you got to experience the full effects of the 2nd dose! I hope you are feeling much better now, but, do expect to feel fatigued for a few days. I was very happy I could put together a small gift with what I had on hand. :)

  3. A thinking of you gift sounds very nice. Feeling tired was probably a side effect of the booster vaccination. I had a third dose on Wednesday and felt so ill but thankfully feel much better today.

    1. I'm sorry you felt so ill after your third dose, Eileen, but, glad to hear that you are feeling better, today. I hope you will continue to feel better in the coming days. My friend and her whole family are going through a very trying time, right now, due to health issues; I was glad I was able to put together a small gift for her daughter.

  4. What a great use of your Stash pots, I am sure the gift will be appreciated. Sounds as though your fire breathing furnace has tamed down & just providing heat with no flames. I hope that you continue feel like yourself as the day progresses. Happy weekend.

    1. Thank you, Mary-Lou; my friend's daughter and her sister are going through a lot, right now, as both parents have been diagnosed with health issues and the prognosis for one is not good. My heart aches for them.

Yes, the furnace is behaving itself and I am so thankful! I'm feeling much better, today, thank you. :) Hope you have a good weekend, yourself. :)

  5. So pleased to hear that you haven't suffered too badly from the booster jab. That must be a relief for you. Hopefully the sciatica pain is a one-off and well and truly in the past.

I like the 'think of you' gift from your stash and, as you say, there's the added bonus of decluttering a couple of items from your stash!

    1. Thank you, Eileen. Hopefully, the sciatica doesn't repeat itself! But, it happened 4 weeks after the 2nd dose, so, who knows how these things work? Hopefully, the fact that the booster was only half the dose will help!

I had meant to get my friend's daughter a birthday gift, but, hadn't, so, when she called my daughter to say she was stopping by, I decided to put this little gift together. Both she and her sister are going through a lot, currently, as their parents are having health issues and the prognosis for one is not very good.

    1. It's funny how the machines do all the work and yet, we feel so productive when the laundry is done, isn't it? :D

  7. Sounds like you were fortunate with only a very mild reaction to the booster. I got mine last week, and felt tired and achy the next day. I'd had no reaction at all from the first two shots,so was surprised to have some from the booster! Your gift was very sweet. I am with my sister again, I flew across country yesterday to be with her at the end. I hope she will be at peace soon. My best to you and your daughter, Celie.

    1. I'm sorry you had a strong reaction to the booster. But, I hope you are feeling better, now.

(((HUGS))) Celie. I am sure your sister is happy to have you with her. May the end be peaceful and pain-free. May you all be surrounded by prayers and may they lift you all up. The young girl who I gave the gift to is going through something similar with her own mother.

  8. That was a sweet gift idea for your friend's daughter. I sympathize with S if she gets heartburn. I have to be fairly careful, too, but haven't had problems so far with tomatoes, although I know they are on the list of heartburn suspects.
Yesterday morning I banged the top of my foot on a bed frame and didn't take much notice and wore a rather constricting shoe part of the day. By evening the whole foot was swollen and I couldn't put weight on it. Shuffling around on hands and knees is not fun, but at least overnight rest has improved it considerably and I can get around but I'm being careful today.

    1. Thank you, Bushlady; I wanted to give my friend's daughter a little something. :) It seems that many people have issues with tomatoes; I get heartburn from canned tomato soup, but, not from my homemade soup from garden tomatoes.

Oh, Ouch! Your foot sounds painful! I hope you are able to ice and elevate it and rest over the weekend! Do be careful!

  11. That was a nice little gift you made up for your friend's daughter. I am sorry they are going through a sad time and you are nice to think of them.

I will read on but I hope you are still feeling alright after your booster. As you mentioned in the comments, your sciatica did not appear until some weeks later so I know you will be holding off to call the "all clear".

    1. Thank you, Debra. I called my friend (whose daughter stopped by on Thursday), and spoke with her, yesterday. Planning to go and see her after Thanksgiving.

I am continuing to feel well; I hope it stays that way! But, I can assure you, I am not going to spend hours weeding in the garden, again! :D
