November Decluttering: Week 1

My  decluttering goal this month is at least one item a day for 30 items.  Since I am not posting a running total on my daily posts, I decided to do a weekly post.  Here are the items decluttered during the first week in November:

11/1- old furnace manual (recycled)

11/2 - plastic Halloween wall hanging (tossed)

11/3 - 2 old notebooks (recycled)

11/4 - 2 glass jars used to sprout mango seeds, unsuccessfully as they just rotted (recycled)

11/5 - 1 door handle (from old door; tossed)
1 cut off piece of broom handle (tossed)
          1 magnifying glass (tossed)
1 used printer ink cartridge (recycled)

11/6 - 4 computer mouse attachments (mice? tossed since daughter said they were broken/wouldn't connect to any new computers)
1 remote control (no idea to what; tossed)
          1 sponge paint brush (tossed)
1 computer key board (to be donated)
2 computer speakers (to be donated)
          1 monitor (to be donated)
1 wall plate for old thermostat (tossed)
3 gift boxes; crushed or torn (recycled)
1 assembly instructions manual for the new sideboard (recycled)
1 small backpack (daughter's; received when she attended orientation at college; to be donated)
1 knitted bag (to be donated)
1 King Tut souvenir mousepad (from when we visited the exhibit)
         - several miscellaneous bits and pieces found in the tool kit box (tossed)

11/7 - 2 pairs of old shoes (sneakers; soles coming off and holey; tossed)

That is already over 30 items decluttered!  I have not included the old computer table (because the new sideboard came in its place) or the shelf unit because I have not decided if I am keeping it as a plant stand for outside or not.

  1. You're doing so well with your decluttering, well done. My decluttered items are in my garage and have still not made their way to the charity shop :(

    1. Thank you, Eileen. That's OK if your decluttered items are waiting in the garage; mine are waiting in the spare bedroom, waiting until I gather enough items to call for a donations pick up. I have 3 bags of items to donate, right now; I usually wait until I have at least 6 bags, to make it worth their while to come and pick up. :)

  2. I continue to be impressed by your decluttering. I've lost all enthusiasm for it recently. But I'm sitting here looking at a cluttered corner of the worktop. Maybe this afternoon...

    1. Thank you, Angela. I think you have other things on your mind right now and, anyway, you decluttered a lot before you moved. I keep asking myself, will I take this with me if I were to move, but, then, myself answers, "But, you are not planning to move anywhere, yet!" LOL.

  3. You are doing remarkably well with your decluttering, Bless. I think I might try and tackle my wardrobe this weekend. X

    1. Thank you, Jules. Good luck with the wardrobe decluttering; just remember, you don't have to do it all in one go, you can do it in stages, if you like. :)

  4. Looks like you found several things to get rid of while transferring things to your new sideboard. You are staying focused on decluttering well. Does your daughter encourage you?

    1. Yes, I did! My daughter is very supportive of my efforts to declutter and will help me go through stuff, but, she doesn't actively urge me to declutter. For example, she might ask, "Do you want to keep this? Are you going to use it?", but, rarely will she say, "This is junk! You should get rid of this." Once or twice she has pointed out things that she doesn't much care for and said that's something I could declutter if I'd like to, but, so far, I haven't wanted to declutter them. I'm still on that journey of learning to let go! :)

  5. Wow, well done. You're on a roll this month! Are you stopping there or will you carry on for the rest of the month?

    1. Thank you, Eileen. :) Oh, I am definitely going to continue with this until the end of the month! It might be just that one item per day, but, that's OK. :)

  6. That's quite a number for this early in the month, you are doing really well. I hope that you are "on a roll" and that you can continue to find things to declutter.
Today I decluttered nearly $175 to the dentist for cleaning! :D

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. I made a good start, didn't I? I hope I will be able to keep the momentum going during the rest of the month, too.
Ouch! That's quite a lot of $s to declutter! If it's of any comfort to you, I decluttered a lot more $s today, myself, paying my property taxes! Surprise! They went up! :D
