A Visit to the Vet's on Thursday

Both my daughter and I slept in, this morning.  I actually got more than 8 hours of sleep!  Unfortunately, I woke up with a dull headache!  More of a sinus pressure headache than anything else, but it stayed with me until later in the evening.

Today's abs exercises required 100 double leg lifts!  I did 10!  That's all I could manage to do!  LOL! Then, I did 40 crunches and 10 of the arm/upper abs exercises that were done on the 1st day.  My daughter did the 100 double leg lifts, but she had to push herself to complete them.  The double leg lifts are something I'll have to work on!

I called the car dealers, this afternoon, and made an appointment to have my car serviced, next week (Tuesday afternoon).

Then, it was time to take Dancer to the vet's for his check up and a vaccination that was due.

Oh, but he was not a happy kitty, as he hates car rides, strange places, and strangers:

"I don't like it!  It's a scary place!"

He was weighed (16.3 lbs. - he actually lost half a pound since his last visit), checked over, pronounced to be in general good health, and given his vaccination.  He does have a cavity in one of his teeth, which requires an extraction!  I decided to go ahead and schedule it for tomorrow, while my daughter is still home to help with taking him in and caring for him afterwards.   We have to be at the vet's to drop him off between 7:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.!  Ack!  So early!  He is not allowed any food or water after midnight, tonight, and then, soft food only for two weeks, after which, he'll need another check up!  So, plans for tomorrow include dropping him off, buying several cans of soft cat food, and picking him up in the evening (between 5:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.).  Poor kitty!

Today's vet visit cost $98 for the office visit and vaccination.  I have an estimation for tomorrow's procedure, too, and it is not exactly inexpensive, either!

After we came home from the vet's, we had tea.  Then, I changed my bed sheets and did a load of laundry.

Neighbor T called and we had a nice chat.

Today, I am grateful for:
- Dancer is in general good health
- There is treatment available for his tooth
- The vet's office had an opening available for him, tomorrow, while daughter is home to help
- A sunny day
- Sleeping in

Thursday's To Do List:
- Alter the dress and skirt for daughter - STARTED
- Change my bed sheets - DONE
- 1 load of laundry (bed sheets) - DONE
- Take Dancer to the vet's - DONE
- Get packages ready for mailing - DID ONE

Friday's To Do List:

How was your day?  What are your plans for tomorrow?

  1. Poor Dancer! They don't like change very much do they? When we went away last year our poor cat did not do well. MIL and FIL came over to visit and look after him and he was not happy at all. In the past middle son has stayed and Shadow (cat) always did well. Now that son has his own cat he couldn't stay. Not sure what we will do this year.

I'm sure Dancer will do fine! 10 leg lifts is good. Not sure I could do any at all lol. I do enjoy walking though and that will continue. Enjoy your day!

    1. We dropped Dancer off at the vet's this morning and his anxious meows were really hard for me to take! But, the vet called a little while ago and said the procedure went well and we can pick him up any time after 3:00 p.m.

I hope you find someone to stay with Shadow when you go away, this year. Maybe your son can come for short periods to check on him, as well as your parents-in-law?

    2. I'm glad to hear he did okay. It is heartbreaking when they do that. Husband always says Shadow becomes really vocal when I'm away. Sigh.

    3. They don't like any changes to their routines or when the people they are used to aren't there, do they? I'm sure Shadow misses you when you are away.

  2. I didn't realize that Dancer weighed 16 pounds. He's one big kitty! Good luck with his extraction today.

    1. Yes, he's a big kitty! The vet just called a few minutes ago and said everything went off well, his other teeth are fine (they did an x-ray), and he can be picked up after 3:00 p.m. I have to take him back in 2 weeks for a follow-up, to see if his gums have healed before being given dry food again, but he should be fine.

  3. Isn't it always the way? You attend to ONE of your items on the to-do list, and suddenly it has become three. The checkup has produced a need for surgery, a different diet and then a follow-up appointment. And then we wonder why it takes so long to get through our list of must-get-done. But I see you are attempting to work through your list. Good for you. I will try to post my Mile long list sometime today.

    1. Susan, you are so right! It's not just one thing, is it? One thing often lead to at least another, if not three! Decluttering the closet, the other day, for example, has led to having to alter 2 items to fit daughter and having to call for a charity pick up (eventually, although, sometimes, they call to say they'll be in the neighborhood and do I have something for them to pick up). :)

  4. Dancer does look worried, hope all went easily for him with the vet. He looks like a lovely soul. I am so impressed with your abs routine, a big "wow" there. I am recovering from a big anaemia episode & my sore body has been finding it hard to get back into exercise. However my determination muscle is very strong so I am doing what I can.

    1. Dancer's procedure went smoothly; he's recovering at home now. He had a meal, but we were told not to give him any hard food and only a small amount of soft food for today. He is not happy about that, as he usually has free access to his hard food. He's been pawing at the empty saucer I used for his soft food, hoping to get more!

Thank you! This is the first time I am doing any abs routines in a very long time! I am finding it hard to do them properly, but am trying.

I'm sorry to hear you've not been well, Ratnamurti. I hope you give yourself sufficient time to recover completely before you do any exercising, etc. Take care of yourself and don't push yourself too much.

    1. Thank you, Eileen. He is home and has been given his pain meds. He's been allowed to eat a little and he's not happy about the quantity, as he's hungry! But, I was told to give him only a little, today, because of the anesthesia; we don't want him throwing up. But he's lying by his empty food bowl and waiting, ever the hopeful kitty!

  6. Poor Dancer, but he is very lucky to have an owner who cares enough to get him dental treatment! I'm sure he will be happy with his soft food, and perhaps he will play "poor kitty" to get lots of attention!

    1. His dental treatment cost almost as much as mine, Bushlady! I am very glad that we just have the one cat! He is home and recovering, but not quite himself, yet and yes, he's feeling very much the "poor kitty"!
