WPSH: First Photo

Eileen was kind enough to explain the Winter Photographic Scavenger Hunt rules, a bit further, in response to a comment made in my previous post; I am paraphrasing what she wrote: All the photos must be your own and must be taken between the specified dates (December 1, 20018 to March 31, 2019).  You can take as many photos as you like for each prompt and post them as and when you like, but you will be asked to select one photo per prompt at the very end.  There will be a link up at the end of each month so others can see your photos and a final link up at the end of March, when you will post your final selection for each prompt.  And, if we get stuck knowing what to photograph for each prompt, she suggests thinking outside the box!

Having said all that, I am excited to show my first photo, taken specifically for the scavenger hunt, for item #7 on the list of prompts:

7.  Horse

Wrought Iron Horses (taken 12/1/18)

Several of the houses I pass on my walks have short walls and/or fences along the front gardens.  According to our city's zoning and building codes, solid walls along the front gardens in single family residential areas can't exceed 3 feet in height, so many of the houses have short solid walls of cinder blocks, mounted with wrought iron or steel fencing.  Some of these fences have decorative panels and this particular fence had these horses (and others like them) spaced every few feet along the length of the fence.

Is anyone else doing the scavenger hunt?

  1. I'm not participating, but if I did I know where to find two huge statues of horses! There's a house nearby with two statues as gate pillars and I think each one is about 6 ft high. :)

    1. Nil, that reminds me that there is a house a few blocks away, in the other direction, which had a statue of two horses in their front yard! They've grown some shrubs along their front wall, so the statue isn't as visible as it used to be, though.

  2. I'm not doing the scavenger hunt, but it sounds like something I would like. I should check into it, but I don't have time right now. So keep posting, and maybe I'll remember. BTW, a great picture of horses. That's some fancy fence.

    1. Live and Learn, you do have until the end of March, so maybe you can participate later? Or, maybe there will be other scavenger hunts - Spring, Summer, etc.

Thank you; I wondered if I'd have to go to the equestrian center or to those parts in the city where there are equestrian trails to get a photo of a horse, but, then, saw this fence!

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. I've a couple of possibilities for one or two of the other prompts, too, but haven't taken the photos, yet.

  5. Nice photo! I am doing the scavenger hunt. I was out and about today and took several photos (as usual lol). I just have to get them together and post them. I think I managed - flight and a crossing place.

    1. Thank you, Becky. I was a bit hesitant, at first - I just have my cell phone camera and I am by no means a photographer - by Eileen encouraged me and now, I am all excited about doing something new and fun! :)
