| Plumbago Flowers |
I can't believe that 24 years have passed since the attacks on 9/11. One of my cousins worked in the first building to be struck; he managed to get out of the building before it collapsed.
I had my dermatologist appointment in the early afternoon. I was asked to come in 20 minutes prior to the appointment to fill out the new patients "paperwork" which was done on a handheld devise. I hate having to sign my name with my finger on those touchscreens. I guess I was taking too long to complete the forms, because one of the staff members asked if I needed help and when I said, "Yes, please", she assisted me. It did make me feel less incompetent when even she struggled with filling in some of the information on my behalf.
But, I was seen by a Physician's Assistant as soon as the forms were completed. A very pleasant young woman. who examined me. She took pictures of my rash (with my permission) and consulted with the doctor and prescribed two creams and a special shampoo and another ointment to be applied. I am to return for a follow up visit in two months and the appointment was made before I left the clinic.
I stopped on my way home to pick up some Chinese food from one of my favorite Chinese fast food places. Daughter and I had some of it for our lunch and for our dinner, too. And there are leftovers for Friday, as well.
I spent a relaxed evening, watching news and some online videos. Later, daughter and I did some Sudoku puzzles together.
On Thursday, I was grateful for:
- Access to medical services
- Health insurance
- The availability of prescription medications
- A safe drive to and from the clinic and free parking
- Pleasant and helpful staff at the clinic
Thursday's joyful activity was doing Sudoku puzzles with daughter.
Plans for Friday include some housework and laundry. And tending to the garden with M.
How was your Thursday? What are your plans for Friday?

That's a beautiful picture of the plumbago flowers. I'm glad the dermatologist appointment went well, and I hope the medicine helps.
ReplyDeleteThank you, June.
DeleteThe medications were delivered today and I hope they will work. :)
Have a great day my friend.

Thank you, Regine; wish you the same.
DeleteThat's a really beautiful photo of a beautiful flower! I thought at first that it was a hydrangea. I too find it amazing to think that it is 24 years since the WTC attacks. I still remember exactly where I was when it happened, and also some detail of the subsequent days/conversations I had with friends around the world.
ReplyDeleteI do hope your lotions and potions sort your rashes out. It can be so uncomfortable to feel itchy all the time. Did they shed any light on what might suddenly have caused this? Presumably not Chinese food (that is a joke).
Ella
Thank you, Ella. I haven't had much luck growing hydrangeas, although several neighbors have them.
Delete9/11 is one of those memorable events that stay with us, isn't it?
My lotions and potions arrived this afternoon! Thank goodness it's not Chinese food that is causing the rashes. I thought it might be eczema It is apparently psoriasis and brought on by stress! Who knew?
My sister suffers from terrible stress-induced psoriasis.
DeleteI am sorry your sister also experiences stress-induced psoriasis.
DeleteSorry I should perhaps have clarified that I mentioned it only to reassure you that it is a known thing, because you seemed surprised.
DeleteNo need to apologize, Lady Ella. I was surprised when the dermatology Physicians' Assistant mentioned stress induced psoriasis. I thought the rashes were due to the summer heat or a side effect of some of the medications I am taking (at least one of which lists skin rashes as a side effect). I didn't realize I was experiencing so much of stress!
DeleteThe plumbago flowers are delightful. I'm glad that your cousin survived that tragedy 24 years ago. I remember a beautiful, peaceful, fall day in the countryside around me, and wondering how such a terrible thing could be happening.
ReplyDeleteThey are very pretty, aren't they?
DeleteThank you, Bushlady; my cousin sent me a picture someone took of him which was published in a newspaper - he was walking down the street, covered in a layer of ash and dust.
I'm glad your appointment went well, and hope that your prescribed treatment offers some relief.
ReplyDeleteI also find that there is plenty of food for at least two meals, whenever I get a chinese take-away. Xx
Thank you, Jules. I received the medications yesterday, so will start using them today.
DeleteI am glad you were able to see the dermatologist and like the PA that saw you.
ReplyDeleteI go to the Dermatologist regularly. I am a fair-skinned, blue eyed former sun worshiper so I'm high on the list for possible problems.
So far so good but you never know when something will pop up.
I hope you are less itchy :)
Thank you, Anonymous. I'm glad you are seeing a dermatologist regularly. I am definitely less itchy now! :)
DeleteAnd another post I recall. It looks like maybe I read a few posts and thought I had commented but didn't.
ReplyDeleteLet's see - what did I think I said ;)
Such a sad day to think back to that terrible day. I remember your cousin working in one of the buildings.
I know what you mean about some things being difficult with technology and I'm glad someone helped you at the dermatologist.
Thank you, Debra. Yes, you did comment and it appeared as anonymous! This one does too, but, I now know that it is from you. Thank you for taking the time to comment, again. :)
