I ordered and picked up groceries yesterday (Wednesday). We were out of half and half for daughter's coffee and coming to the end of the milk, garlic powder, and loaf of bread I had bought earlier. In addition, I wanted some chicken (especially since I didn't go to the ethnic store as planned, earlier, for various reasons) and a few items that were on sale.
I bought:
Rewards
Order Summary
Item Details
20 Items
Other Fees
$0.40
I deleted all the itemizations of coupon deductions from the receipt in order to streamline it, a bit. Instead, I decided to color code my receipt.
Dancer's cat food and the tax paid on it are shown in blue.
The grocery items I paid full price for are indicated in pink.
Everything else on the receipt are items purchased because they were on sale/offer with store loyalty card, digital coupons, and/or multi-buy specials (the frozen dinners).
I paid a total of $47.86
Of which, Dancer's cat food and related tax came to: $6.59
Groceries for humans and bag fees = $47.86 - 6.59 = $41.27
My September Grocery Budget = $250.00
Spent to date = $28.49 + $36.06 + $36.45 +$1 + $41.27 = $143.27
Balance left in the September grocery budget = $250 - $143.27 = $106.73
I didn't need a lot of vegetables, other than the cucumber, because I have carrots in the fridge, frozen vegetables, and fresh okra, moringa pods and leaves, and some stunted ears of corn (this year's corn harvest leaves a lot to be desired) from the garden, as well as some butternut squash that are just about ready to be picked.
I didn't need any fruit because I have avocados, mangos, two apples, and a few grapes that were bought earlier, plus Asian pears from the garden.
I will probably shop for more produce next week and depending on when I shop, it will come from this month's grocery budget or October's.
I am very pleased with this month's grocery spending so far. I had wanted to save at least $50 from this month's grocery budget towards stocking up on my next trip to the Sri Lankan grocery store, which might take place tomorrow (Friday).
Did you go grocery shopping this week? Are you finding good deals at your stores? Are you doing with your grocery budget, if you have one?
