Moringa Pods |
I harvested all these moringa pods from my tree on Monday. On Wednesday, I sat and peeled all of them, cut them up, and cooked a huge pot of moringa curry. My plan is to portion it out and freeze it to enjoy over the next few months.
I had stayed up all night on Tuesday, until 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning. I was woken up just before 7:00 a.m. when Dancer used the litter box. A quick check confirmed that he had produced a sample for me to take to the vet's clinic for analysis. Never mind that I had only had one and a half hours of sleep - I collected the sample, got dressed, and left the house by 7:30 a.m. I was able to hand in the sample by 7:45 a.m.
I drove to the post office on my way home, but, while the lobby opened at 8:00 a.m., the service window didn't open till 10:00 a.m., so, I came home. I didn't want to go back to sleep, so, I got busy. I put a load of kitchen and bathroom rugs and Dancer's towels to wash and mopped the bathroom. I hung the washed rugs to dry and then, it was time to go to the post office, again. I had two documents to mail and I was able to have them date stamped at the service window.
After I came home, I sat down to peel the moringa pods. It took me some time to do them all, by which time, M was here to tend to the garden. I asked him to spray the yard with the outdoor flea spray we had ordered and after he did that, he did some tidying up in the front garden.
Afterwards, I cooked the moringa curry.
Then, it was time for a late brunch of tortillas and seeni sambol.
I took a nap after that and slept for almost three hours.
Afterwards, I swept and mopped the kitchen.
Dinner was assorted leftovers and daughter did the dishes. After dinner, I caught up on some of my blog reading.
Plans for Thursday include an appointment with a dermatologist I've been referred to as I have developed what I think are two different types of rashes.
Mid-week, I am grateful for:
- The abundant moringa harvest (there are more pods on the tree, but, they are not ready to be picked yet)
- Vet services for Dancer
- M's help with the garden
- Afternoon naps
- Chocolate cookies that daughter baked

Chocolate Cookies |
How is your week coming along?
I hope the dermatologist can give you some insight to your rashes. Do they itch?
ReplyDeleteThose cookies look delicious.
Thank you, June. Yes, the rashes itch. The dermatology appointment went well and I've been prescribed some creams and a special shampoo to use and a follow up appointment in 2 months. The cookies are delicious; maybe a bit too delicious! LOL.
DeleteDancer's timing was immaculate, even if you did have to forgo sleep!
ReplyDeleteIt was perfect timing on his part, wasn't it? I was able to catch up on some sleep, later. :)
DeleteWhat a productive week you've had. It's amazing how much you managed to get done, even with so little sleep. The moringa harvest sounds incredible, and that's a genius idea to cook it all up and freeze it for later. I'm crossing my fingers for good news from the dermatologist, and I hope you get some well-deserved rest soon. Those chocolate cookies are the perfect reward for all your hard work.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Melody; very kind of you to say so. I'm pleased with the moringa harvest and the dermatology appointment went well. The cookies are delicious. :)
DeleteNow I need to find a store that sells moringa pods! You are certainly expanding my meal plans. I hope your rashes clear up quickly. Enjoy those delicious looking cookies!
ReplyDeleteI hope you are able to find moringa pods, Celie. Some Asian grocery stores have frozen or canned moringa for sale and I've tried them both, but, they are nothing like the taste of the fresh pods. The closest substitute for the taste of moringa, in my opinion, are asparagus. Before I was able to grow my own moringa, I would cook asparagus spears as a curry and found it an acceptable substitute.
DeleteThe dermatologist has prescribed some creams and a special shampoo; I am waiting for the pharmacy to deliver them. The cookies are almost all gone! We shared some with M the other day. :)
Dear Bless, your chocolate cookies look delicious! I am not familiar with moringa. Thank you so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteMy week is going very well, thank God. The weather here in Montreal is beautiful and comfortable, perfect for taking long walks in nature and just enjoying the beauty!
Thank you, Linda. The cookies were shared with my gardener friend M and are almost all gone! LOL. Baked goods don't last long in this house! Moringa has been one of my favorite vegetables since I was a child. :)
DeleteI am so glad that your week is going well and you are enjoying the nice weather. I enjoy seeing the photos you take on your walks.
Those cookies look delicious!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you managed to get the sampple in the end, but I'm not surprised you needed a nap. Xx
The cookies were delicious. And they are almost all gone! LOL.
DeleteYes, definitely needed a nap after I took the sample in. I haven't heard anything about the results, yet.
