August Week 4 Meal Plan Options Review and September Week 1 Meal Plan Options

Hawaiian Loco Moco
(Rice, hamburger patty, fried egg, onion gravy)

These were the meal plan options for the last week of August - August Week 4 (8/25 - 8/31):

Brunches:  Corned beef sandwiches; salads; fresh fruit;  bread and peanut butter, scrambled eggs and toast, smoothies, leftovers from dinners

Dinners: Chicken curry and rice with tomato chutney, dhal, and cucumber salad; leftover smoked sausage stir fry with noodles or rice; Hawaiian Loco Moco: hamburger patties with rice, onion gravy, and fried egg, with sliced cucumbers on the side salad and corn on the cob; fried rice; leftovers;  or something else!

Snacks/Desserts: Options include fresh fruit, crackers, yogurt (me - daughter doesn't like yogurt), cereal and milk, the last bagel with butter; dried fruits and nuts, granola bars

And here's how that worked out:

Monday:
Brunch: Cantaloupe slices; corned beef sandwich
Dinner: Hawaiian Loco Moco - rice, hamburger patties, topped with onion gravy and a fried egg; side of cucumber salad
Daughter mentioned having loco moco when she went to Hawaii for her friend's wedding, so I looked up the recipe and made them.  They are usually served with a sunny side up fried egg, but, my daughter prefers her fried eggs to be well cooked on both sides, so that's what I did.  I didn't have an egg on my hamburger patty and it reminded me a bit of smothered beef with the gravy.
Snacks/dessert: Freshly picked Asian pear from the garden (daughter and me), peach gelatin dessert (me), granola bar (daughter)

Tuesday:
Brunch:  Cantaloupe (me) (daughter was too busy with back to back work meetings to eat)
Late Lunch: Fried rice with the last of the corned beef mixture and half a hamburger patty cut up and added to it, with green peas. peanuts, and a scrambled egg
Dinner: Salad (daughter made) with lettuce, grated carrots, sunflower seeds (and avocado and red onions added to daughter's portion) and bottled salad dressing;
Snacks/dessert: Slice of toast with butter (me); crackers (daughter)

Wednesday:
Brunch:  Rice, leftover smoked sausage stir-fry
Dinner:  Mac and cheese with tuna and green peas
Snacks/dessert:  Watermelon (daughter); yogurt with peach gelatin dessert mixed in (me); Asian pears; chocolate wafers (me)

Thursday:
Brunch:  Leftover mac and cheese
Dinner:  Rice, chicken curry, dhal, tomato chutney
Snacks/dessert: Watermelon (daughter; I can't eat watermelon, my mouth gets itchy); Peach gelatin dessert with yogurt (me); almonds

Friday:
Brunch: Bread and chicken curry (daughter), half a frozen burrito (me)
Dinner: Salad & the other half of the burrito (daughter); salad & toast and scrambled egg (me)
Snacks/desserts: Granola bar (daughter); dry cereal (me)

Saturday:
Brunch: Toast and scrambled eggs (daughter); piece of toast with peach jam (me)
Dinner: Rice, chicken curry, dhal (daughter); tortilla and chicken curry (me)
Snacks/desserts:  Raspberries (daughter; again, I have a mild food allergy to raspberries; I tried one and my mouth felt itchy); potato chips (me)

Sunday:
Brunch:  Piece of curried chicken, raspberries (Daughter); piece of toast with peanut butter (me)
Dinner:  Ramen noodles with the last bit of smoked sausage stir fry added to it
Snacks/desserts: Hot cheetos, freshly picked Asian pear, cereal (daughter)

We followed the plan with some adaptations for the most part.  I am pleased with how it all worked out, although we tended to eat different things as the week progressed.  Which is totally fine with me.

Moving on to September.  Here are the meal plan options for September Week 1:

Brunches:  Milkrice (September 1st) with seeni sambol, jaggery (me) or sugar (daughter, who doesn't like jaggery); Egg salad or tuna salad sandwiches; French toast; salads; Scrambled eggs and toast (if we don't have egg salad); leftovers from dinners

Dinners:  Spaghetti with ground turkey and pasta sauce (or leftover onion gravy); Rice and chicken curry with dhal and cucumber salad; Rice and keema curry made with ground turkey; pork chops* and rice with vegetables; leftovers; or something else!

Snacks/Desserts: Options include fresh fruit, crackers, chips, cheetos, smoothies

One of the ethnic stores is having a one-day only sale on assorted pork chops for $1.99/lb. on Tuesday, which is the new stock up "sale" price on them.  I am planning to buy some.

Will you be meal planning this week?
