On Friday

Yogurt and Rose Syrup

Friday was a chilly day (for me) with a daytime high of 63F.  My rose jelly didn't set overnight and remained a syrup, but, it is a pretty color and tastes delicious.

I spent most of the afternoon doing some paperwork, dealing with insurance, and making appointments for May.  May will be a busy month as I have two medical appointments (one of which had to be rescheduled) and two appointments for lab work prior to the medical appointments,  as well as my late friend A's daughter's graduation, and a quick visit by daughter who will be coming down to attend the graduation.

M was here in the evening to tend to the garden and I served him some rose syrup with yogurt for him to try and gave him a jar of the syrup to take home with him.  He liked the rose syrup.

Brunch was a banana; dinner was the last of the pasta I was given.  Dessert was a bowl of yogurt with rose syrup.

I am currently watching the televised funeral of Pope Francis.  I am not Catholic, but, I respect all religions.

On Friday, I was grateful for:

- Warm clothing on a chilly day
- Getting some paperwork and scheduling done
- M's help with the garden
- Blueberries from the garden
- Television

Friday's joyful activities included video chatting with my daughter, tending to the garden with M, and knitting.

I've no specific plans for Saturday.  We have a chance of rain in the morning, according to the forecast.  I will probably spend a relaxed day, knitting.

How was your Friday?  What are your plans for Saturday?

Rose Syrup

  1. The syrup is a gorgeous colour!
It's Saturday afternoon here. I took part in a Parkrun this morning, and I'll be taking Lily to her tennis session this afternoon. I also have some paperwork that needs my attention, but I think I'll put it off a little while longer ;)

    1. That you, Jules; I'm pleased with the color of the syrup. :)
Well done taking part in a Parkrun. I hope you've had a relaxed afternoon while Lily was at her tennis session and you are both having a lovely rest of the day. I've stacks of paperwork I've put off doing (just doing the absolute necessary, right now - paying bills, etc.)

  2. It seems that the rose syrup is a great success, even if it wasn't your original plan for the petals! We are having a rainy Saturday, which is fine by me as I can find things to do in the house, and I have a stack of new to me books from the library book sale!

    1. The rose syrup turned out well and we will enjoy it. Enjoy your rainy Saturday! We had some rain this morning, ourselves, although it's partly sunny, now. But, "cold" as far as I am concerned, with a high of 54F.

  3. Can you reboil the syrup to see if it will set?
Friday drove husband to and from hospital for painkilling injections in his back
Happy to report his best nights sleep in ages AND a pain free Saturday

    1. Angela, yes, I could reboil the syrup, but, that would mean opening up all the jars after they have been canned in a water bath and sealed, washing and sterilizing the jars again, and reprocessing them to can them. A lot of work that I don't necessarily want to do. I'm lazy! I'll use the syrup and pretend that I meant to make syrup from the start!
Glad to hear that Bob had a good night's sleep and a pain free Saturday after his injections. Hopefully, that happy state continues for a good long time. :)

  4. The syrup looks good with the yogurt.
I watched some of the Pope's service as well. I didn't get up in time to watch it all but turned it on when I awoke.
You do have a busy May !

    1. The syrup was good with yogurt; it'll be better with vanilla ice cream, I think! :D
I just stayed up and watched the funeral service; it'll be interesting to see who the next Pope will be.
Yes, May is a bit busy (I just made Dancer's vet appointment, too). I might have to take June off to recover! LOL.
