Better on Tuesday

Another Christmas Card

My daughter said she felt better on Tuesday than she had done on Monday.  She still had a slight headache and a cough, and felt very tired, but, she didn't have a fever! She took a couple of naps during the day, but, in between naps, she felt well enough to air out the apartment and get her closet door back on track (it had come off the track on Friday).  I'm hoping that she will be fever free tomorrow, too.

I spent a relatively relaxed day.  Mailed two more cards that I had made, brought in the trash cans, went though this week's grocery ads, cleaned the litter box, had an extra long chat with aunt C (a couple of hours long as she needed to talk), crocheted while I watched the evening news, did a little dusting, and started setting up the winter village.  In between, I watched a lot of videos online.

Brunch had been the leftover sauteed turkey with green peas, onions, and potatoes added to it.  Dinner had been a burrito.  I still have leftovers from the sausages I cooked, earlier, and I haven't really meal planned for this week, but, I might make some soup, later this week.

Today, I am grateful for:

- Daughter is feeling better!
- Phone chats with family and friends
- Leftovers and frozen food
- A warm house
- Being able to video chat with my daughter

Today's joyful activity was setting up the winter village.

Plans for tomorrow include M tending to the garden, finish setting up the winter village, and tidying up the living room.

How was your Tuesday?  What are your plans for Wednesday?

  1. Very glad to her that your daughter is improving daily ... who knows she might get home to you for Christmas after all. I cannot wait to see your winter village. My Wednesday includes time out to attend a 20 minute church service of prayers for peace in the world.

    1. Thank you, Mary-Lou; my daughter said her temperature was normal, this morning. If she doesn't get a fever by this evening, she would have been fever free for 24 hours. I will take a photo of the winter village this evening and post it for you to see. :)
The world definitely needs all the prayers for peace it can get!

  2. That's a fun and colorful card. I have one friend who makes her cards every year. I always marvel at the time it takes. I'm sure those who receive your cards appreciate them.

    1. Thank you, June. I used some stickers I had in my stash! I'm enjoying making the cards, this year. But, maybe, next year, I'll buy a box of cards! I used to buy my cards during the after Christmas sales and keep them for the following year, but, I haven't been in the stores since the start of the pandemic and my supply of boxed cards have come to an end!

    1. Thank you, Diana. My daughter is continuing to recover. :)
It's a blessing to be able to provide a listening ear to my aunt. She called me, today, too. :D

  5. I'm so pleased to hear that your daughter is feeling a bit better. That really good news to hear that changes in her health are all heading in the right direction. Do you feel more hopeful that she will be well in time to come home for Christmas?

I like your Teddy Bear card.

    1. Thank you, Eileen. Yes, I am feeling more hopeful although I don't want to jinx anything and she is trying not to set herself up for a disappointment! But, if she remains fever-free, and if she tests negative, and if she feels her remaining symptoms (sore throat, cough, etc.) are well enough, then, maybe she will be home for Christmas. :)

  6. It does sound as if your daughter's Covid is running its course and I hope that is the end of the fever stage. That is a lovely colourful card!
I went to pick up a package from the post office and forgot that they needed a tracking number. However, I got a later e-mail saying the it was in the community mail box, so I should find it when I go for the mail this afternoon. It was very busy in the small town and I was happy to get home again!

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. My daughter is still fever-free, so far, today (as of 5:00 p.m.) She will probably test herself, tomorrow, to see if she can end her period of self-isolation (she has a parcel waiting for her to be picked up in the apartment building's "parcel pending" locker and if not picked up after 5 days, there is a fee to be paid).
Picking up packages seems to be a common theme! I hope you found your package when you checked your mail, today. :)

  7. So glad your daughter is feeling somewhat better. I hope her recovery is speedy now. Today was the last day of classes, so now starts final exams. I'll be busy right up to Christmas Eve, but then I get three weeks off!!

    1. Thank you, Celie. I, too, hope that she will continue to recover. Just today, in the news, a doctor was talking about the prevalence of "long Covid".
Sounds like you'll be busy in the next few days with final exams and grading, etc. I'm sure you are looking forward to having three weeks off after that! Have you any particular plans for your time off?

  9. Continued good news about your daughter's health. I am hoping she continues being fever free - for her health and for your Christmas plans.
Your Aunt C that you had a long chat with- is she the Aunt that moved to Florida?
I bought some chicken on sale the other week. Boneless skinless breasts and they were huge! I put one in the crockpot yesterday for my husband's favorite chicken and rice with sweet chili sauce.
Usually I will cook it plain when I am turning it into that meal for him, but yesterday I cooked it with a lot of water and vegetables as if for soup.
So today I am taking all of that good broth and leftover chicken and making chicken and rice soup with dill. One of our favorites.

    1. Thank you, Debra; my daughter experienced an anxiety attack, yesterday, and she tested positive, early this morning, but, otherwise, she is on the mend.
It was cousin P who moved to Florida; aunt C is here in California. I know, it's hard to keep track of who is who! :D
Well done on making two different meals from one piece of chicken! One of our stores had advertised chicken breasts (with rib bones attached) for $1.27/lb. which was a good price. Unfortunately, they don't do curbside pick up, so, I will not be buying those. The store with curbside pick up has chicken (both parts and whole) on sale for $.99/lb. I might buy a tray of chicken if I ever get around to placing an order!

  10. It sounds like you are a good listener, Bless. It was kind of you to take the time to chat with your Aunt. X

    1. I think I'm a better listener than a talker in real life. I was glad I was able to sit and listen to my aunt. She lives with her daughter, but, her daughter is often too busy to sit and listen to her.
