Relaxed Friday

Blurry Busy Bee

I still don't know how to find the focus on my new cell phone camera.  My friend who has been trying to coach me through taking photos says I hold the camera too close to the object I am trying to photograph.  Anyway, this photo was taken last week, when there were still flowers on the peach tree.  We had some really strong winds after this photo was taken and now, there are almost no flowers left on the peach tree.  I hope the bees did what bees are supposed to do while the flowers were in bloom and there will be some peaches in the future!

Today has been another sunny and warm day.  Warm as in a high of 86F where I live, although some areas went up to 90F according to the news.  I walked around the garden in the morning and picked a few more peapods.

Later, I used more of the lavash bread that I had been given to make more koththu roti for brunch (a slight change in the meal plan!); I added the last of the leftover chicken curry and the sauteed garden greens to it.  I also made some fresh lemonade to drink.

M was here in the early evening to tend to the garden.  He watered and weeded for me and we discussed which vegetables to plant next.

I cooked a fresh pot of rice for dinner and stir-fried some vegetables - the last of the head of cabbage, this week's peapods, and a couple of carrots - to have with the leftover ground turkey for dinner.  After dinner, I did the dishes, cleaned the litter box, and chatted with friend R.

It has been a quiet, relaxed day.

Today, I am grateful for:

- A sunny, warm day
- A quiet, relaxed day
- M tending to the garden for me
- Leftovers for easy meals
- Phone calls and emails with friends

Today's joyful activity was spending time in the garden.

Plans for tomorrow include doing some housekeeping.

How was your Friday?  What are your plans for the weekend?

  1. What a shame the wind has blown away the flowers from your peach tree. I hope you will have some lovely, delicious peaches to pick in your garden, I can only imagine how nice that would be! Enjoy a relaxing weekend and I plan to do that too.

    1. I, too, hope that we'll get some tasty peaches to pick, this year. I still have some frozen from last year's harvest! Should make a peach pie before daughter goes back up north. Hope you are having a relaxing weekend, too, Eileen. :)

  2. I agree with your friend. It looks like you are getting too close when you try to take this sort of photo ... if you look at the others flowers in the picture that are behind the flower you wanted to photograph you can see that they are in focus. Use this as a guide to work out how far away you need to hold the phone to keep your subject in focus.

Fresh lemonade sounds delightful and an enjoyable part of your relaxing day.

    1. Thank you, Eileen. I have to play around with the phone camera a bit more! The fresh lemonade was lovely! I should make more!

  3. I used to hold the camera too close to objects for closeups and get blurry pictures until I figured out the problem. Occasionally, I still do it, but I understand want's wrong now. You'll get the hang of it. Even though your picture may be a little blurry, I knew immediately that it was a bee on a peach blossom.

    1. I think my problem is, I'm trying to get a close up of the subject I want to photograph and getting too close to it! I'm glad you could tell it was a bee on a peach blossom! :D

  4. Your peach blossom is beautiful. That sort of weather is usually midsummer here and I fall apart at those temperatures. I don't know how you keep going.

    1. Thank you, Lyssa. I don't start falling apart until we go up to the triple digits in late summer! :D When it's 106F, that's when I start falling apart! :D

  5. Sounds like a nice day Bless. Try tapping your screen right on the subject to get your phone to focus. That's what I have to do on mine, maybe it will work for you too. Have a great weekend!

    1. Tapping on the screen makes it lighten up! My daughter looked for the focus feature and was unable to find it. This is the new phone that I received, free of charge, from the phone company because they were switching to 5G and my old phone will no longer work with 5G. I might have to dig out the manual and see how the camera feature works! :D

  6. I'm sure you will soon be up to your usual standard with your photographs! I wonder what our bees are doing? Probably wintering over, underneath leaves and such.
We had blowing snow in the early morning hours but now in the afternoon the sun is out and it feels much better than the recent overcast days. I'm making preparations for supper when our family arrive.

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. I shall try! :D I've read that honeybees overwinter in their hives, with the worker bees surrounding the queen to keep her warm. Male bees apparently leave the hives and die.
I'm glad you are having a sunny afternoon. Have a lovely visit with your family; it has been delayed too long!

  7. The peach blossom looks beautiful. What a shame the wind blew all the petals away. We've experienced some wet weather and strong winds here recently, I'm feeling ready for spring now. X

    1. Thank you, Jules. I hope spring comes early to your part of the world. It seems to have come early, here, but, we are told that next week will be cooler. :)
