Sunny and Cool on Wednesday

Garden Shed: New Look

Today, I asked M to move the old computer desk into the shed.  He wasn't sure if it was a good idea to do so, but, I think it will work well to hold all the garden supplies that are in the garage.  The item in the black trash bag pushed into the corner by the side of the shelving unit is the Christmas tree stand and I will try to find a better place for it, later; maybe on the shelf unit, itself, once some of the empty planters have been planted out.  I want to keep the corners clear for easy sweeping.

I have a few things stacked along the shed wall to the right:

Along the Right Wall

The old yellow recycling bin holds a couple of bags of potting soil and a bag of lawn fertilizer (from when there used to be a lawn!).  The blue bucket holds a couple of  wooden poles and the child-sized garden tools I had bought for my daughter, one year!  A spade, a hoe, and two types of rakes.  I use them, from time to time, as long handled spades and forks, etc.  I think I will store the ladder that is behind them in the garage, along with the other, taller ladder.  It can stay in the shed for now.

The barbecue grill is still sitting outside.  It needs to be scrubbed and brought inside the shed.

I called and checked on neighbor T, this morning; she said she had some problems, but, didn't say what they were and I didn't want to ask as I didn't want to pry.  But, I told her to let me know if there was anything I could do.  I told M about her fall and he, too, called to check on her (he does her garden, too).

I've had a quiet rest of the day. I had made coconut flat bread for dinner, last night, but, cooked only some of them.  I kept the remaining five flat breads and cooked them, this morning, for our brunch.  Later, I did the dishes and did a little tidying up.  It was a mostly sunny, cool day, with a high in the mid 50s.  Tonight's low is supposed to be 38F (it'll be colder, tomorrow night, according to the forecast).

Today, I am grateful for:
- M helping me with the shed and the garden
- A sunny, if cool, day
- A warming cup of hot tea
- Handknitted wool sweaters and socks
- A working furnace

Today's joyful activity was getting the shed set up a little more to my liking and spending time in the garden, checking on the plants, and picking peapods and oranges.

Tomorrow, I have a doctor's appointment at noon for a check up and to go over my blood test results from the end of December.  I am not looking forward to that!

How was your Wednesday?  What are your plans for Thursday?

  1. There can be few sheds around as clean and tidy as yours is now! I was amused that M wasn't sure about moving in the computer desk. It looks fine there and I'm sure you will find it useful. I hope your doctors appointment goes well.

I tried "Quordle" and liked it and sometimes I even try "Octordle". I haven't managed to get all eight words yet. I suppose it helps keep the grey matter active.

    1. LOL, thank you, Bushlady! M was afraid that I might clutter up the cleaned out shed with the desk, but, I think it will work as a "potting table". If not, I will have him toss it out as first planned!

Thank you for the well wishes for the doctor's appointment, tomorrow. :)

My daughter likes Quordle and Octordle; I tried Quordle (but didn't finish it!); haven't tried Octordle, yet! However, I have been doing Wordle, every day! :)

  2. Your shed is so spacious. And looks so clean. We cleaned ours out not too long ago and it is still filled. I think we may need to be a bit more ruthless. I think the desk looks good in there. If you find it bothers you, you can always put it on the curb and someone will take it, but I think it'll come in handy for more storage. I hope neighbor T. is doing better. Good luck with your doctor's appointment. Denise

    1. Thank you, Denise. I am hoping that the shed will continue to be clean and tidy! I do need to put the grill in there, too, but, there is room for it. T is doing better. Thank you for the well wishes for the doctor's appointment; I admit to being a bit anxious about it! :)

  3. I love the tidy shed. Once the new workshop is organised, I should be able to organise my little space for gardening stuff. Especially a table at my height for potting and sowing. Wet here today, but not windy (yet)

    1. Thank you, Angela. I think I can do a bit more to spruce it up a little more, but, the first priority was to get it cleaned and organized! I hope you will get your space in the workshop organized in good time for spring planting! :)

  4. The shed looks good and so much space! Are you pleased with the end result of your efforts? I know you've mentioned doing the garage next ... is that a much bigger job?

I hope your doctor's appointment goes well and the blood results are good.

    1. Thank you, Eileen. Oh, yes, I'm pleased! I can actually go in there without worrying about getting an asthma attack from the dust! Now, the task is to keep it organized and clean! The garage is a bigger job, if only because the garage is a bigger space! I will have to tackle it in small steps (the classic, "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time!"). I think the garage will be my project for March.

The doctor's appointment went well enough although there will be more blood tests and a scan; I have a follow-up appointment in May.

    1. Thank you, Martha. A bit more to do in the shed, but, I should get that done in the next few days. :) Thank you; the appointment went well enough, but, I was so stressed about it that I got a headache! :D

    1. Thank you, Mary-Lou. I want to keep it tidy and functional! Ideally, a place to store garden equipment and not a place to dump stuff!

    1. Thank you, Debra. Yes, I'm very pleased with how it turned out! Now, I need to keep it looking as clean and as organized! Maybe I should do a monthly photo of the shed on or about the 23rd of the month! :D

    1. Thank you, Susanne. :) I know M was rather dubious about bringing the desk in, but, I like the idea of a potting table and those things are not cheap! I am happy to reuse and repurpose what I have! If it doesn't work, then, maybe, at the end of the summer, I might decide to toss the computer desk.
