On Saturday

Not Dancer

On Saturday, afternoon I visited my cousin V who is recovering from a knee replacement surgery.  She has the most beautiful Maine coon mix kitty I've seen.  He is so friendly, too, and very vocal.

In the morning, I made a bread pudding to take to my cousin's because, when I asked her if she'd like me to bring her anything in particular, she requested a homemade dessert.  I also took her some freshly picked blueberries from the garden.  V had prepared a lovely charcuterie board with an assortment of cheese and crackers, string cheese rolled up in salami, bowls of strawberries, blueberries, and clusters of grapes, and a small bowl full of chocolate covered almonds set in the middle.

I spent a couple of hours visiting V and then, came home.  I had made myself a small container of bread pudding, too, so I ate a piece of that, watched the evening news, and then, took a nap on the sofa.

On Saturday, I was grateful for:

- Being able to visit my cousin
- Time spent together, catching up on each other's news
- A safe drive there and back
- Naps on the sofa
- Exchanging emails with a friend

Saturday's joyful activity was visiting my cousin.

Plans for Sunday include a sewing project.

How was your Saturday?  Do you have any special plans for this Memorial Day weekend?

  1. Oh! I haven't had bread pudding in so long. It was one of my father's favorites so we had it a lot when I was a kid. None of my family liked it so I never made it when they were home. Now it's just me so I think I need to make some!
Maine Coons are special. We had a beauty. They call them the 'dogs' of the cat world because they have traits that are almost dog-like. xo Diana

    1. I think you should make a small dish of bread pudding for yourself, Diana. I prefer to bake mine, but, they can be made in a microwave oven, too.
Maine Coons are gorgeous, aren't they?

  3. I don't think I've seen a yellow Maine coon cat. I guess the yellow comes from the "mix". :) Sounds like you had a nice visit with V.

    1. He is a lovely color, isn't he? I did have a nice visit with V. I half expected her sister to join us, but, she was away for the weekend. Must make it a point to visit with them both, again.

    1. He is gorgeous, isn't he? Very social and loves to be carried. But, I shall pass on your gentle scritches and assurances to Dancer. He is a very handsome kitty, in my opinion, too. :)

  6. Cats make me sneeze and snivel, but I don't think I could resist fussing over that one. Don't know what a Maine Coon is but if as affectionate as you say, it would be difficult to harden one's heart.

    1. Oh, I didn't know you were allergic to cats! You might need to take some allergy meds when you come to dinner! Maine Coons are a breed of long haired cats that originated in the state of Maine. They are supposed to be very affectionate and this one certainly is!

    2. Yes. I never put two and two together till one day I exclaimed to my singing teacher that I didn't understand why it was that I would walk into her house feeling good, and in fine voice, then within 15 minutes I was blowing my nose and feeling sinussy. Her partner shouted from the other room "Cat?" and the penny dropped. I never touched their cat but later tested it out by playing with other friends' cats, and sure enough ended up with what felt like a hayfever attack. I took antihistamines that day Laurie and I went to take spring photos with Luna. I'm told cat allergies can clear up in time but I've never lived with a kitty long enough for that to happen.

    1. It is a lovely cat, isn't it? I'm glad I made the bread pudding as my cousin liked it well enough to ask me for the recipe. Of course, I don't follow a proper recipe with quantities, so I had to estimate how much bread and milk, etc., when I wrote out the directions for her. :)

  9. I recently read that ginger cats are usually male and that they are super friendly!

    1. Yes, ginger/orange coloring in cats are due to a mutation in the X chromosome and since male cats have only one X chromosome, it's easier to see the orange coloration in them. Female cats have two X chromosomes, so, a mutation in one X chromosome is usually insufficient to cause them to be mostly orange; instead, they often turn out to be calico cats with some orange patches. :)

  10. A homemade gift, especially food, is such a sweet and much appreciated gesture! Beautiful cat! I am in Montreal, Canada, so it isn't a long weekend here for us...however, last weekend was, because last Monday was Victoria Day.

  11. That is nice you visited with V after her operation. How is her knee doing? My husband had both knees replaced at the same time a while ago. Maybe 15 years ago now. He recovered well.
Last week was a nice sociable week for you.

    1. It was nice to be able to visit V. She was still in a lot of pain, but, she was doing OK. I can't imagine how your husband managed to have both knees done at the same time! One knee seems to be bad enough, going by how V is feeling!
Yes, it was a busy and sociable week! I did enjoy it, but, I'm enjoying a more relaxed week, this week!
