A Bee Enjoys the Nectar

Wednesday was a sunny and warm day with the afternoon high being almost 90F.  My friend R had said she will visit on Wednesday afternoon, so, in the morning, I cooked a chicken curry, a fresh pot of rice, and some sauteed broccoli for our lunch (along with some leftover dhal that I warmed up).

M arrived to tend to the garden just before friend R arrived.  I chatted with him for a bit and left him to water the garden, which I chatted with R.  I did ask M if he'd like to join us for lunch and he did, although he preferred to eat his lunch outside in the garden.  I chatted with him while he ate and then, R and I had our lunch.

R stayed for the rest of the afternoon and we chatted about various things.  Then, after a cup of tea (no cake, this time) I dropped her off at her apartment.  It was nice to have her spend the afternoon with me.

In addition to cooking and having company, I did two loads of laundry, did the dishes, and tidied up the kitchen.  Then, I watched a few online videos, exchanged emails with a friend, and chatted with my daughter.

I didn't make a meal plan for this week as there are plenty of leftovers in the fridge.  The chicken curry was something I had planned to make when my daughter was visiting, but, didn't make.  For dinner, I made some roti (flat bread)  to have with some of my chicken curry.  I made a very small batch with just a cup of flour; the dough yielded four small rotis.  I ate one and a half rotis for my dinner and the rest will be for another meal.

On Wednesday, I was grateful for:
- A sunny, warm day
- M's help with the garden
- Friend R's visit
- Having company
- A safe drive to drop R off and back

Wednesday's joyful activity was spending time with both friend R and M.

Plans for Thursday include an appointment with my doctor, putting away the last load of laundry, and maybe some tidying of the house.

How was your Wednesday?  What are your plans for Thursday?

    1. You are welcome, Lyssa.
I'm a bit busier this week than I like, but, things are getting done, so, that's good.

    1. Thank you, June. I've had a busy morning with doctor's appointments and being on the phone scheduling additional appointments and trying to get referrals. But, I'm hoping to have a relaxed evening.

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. It was very nice to be able to share lunch with two good friends. The aeonium flowers are pretty, aren't they? Once it flowers, the mother plant will usually die, but, daughter plants grow from the base.

  6. I love rotis. And used to make them all the time. Time to revisit this, methinks. Do you just use flour and water? Any special flour? I think that I need retraining (lol)

    1. Roti is very versatile, isn't it? I used regular all purpose flour (about 1 cup), a little bit of salt (didn't measure, but, 1/2 tsp. maybe?), a little drizzle of vegetable oil (maybe 1 tbsp.), and just enough water to make a dough. I kneaded it for a few minutes, divided it into 4 pieces and rolled each piece out thinly. Cooked them in a saute pan, a couple of minutes on each side.

    1. Thank you, Celie. It was one of the best vet visits we've had in a long time! I guessed I timed the sedation just right and he used the litter box just before we left, so that worked out well, too. :)

  8. How nice to be able to have company for lunch. I think back on all the years I ate lunch most of the time alone and it is really nice to have someone to have a meal and conversation with. Now I have a companion for lunch nearly every single day. Hmmmm. Not a fan of every day lunch togetherness

    1. It was nice to have lunch with a friend. I imagine it takes some time to get used to having a lunch companion every day. I'll get to experience that once my daughter comes back home to stay. :)

  9. I wouldn't usually have noticed, but the aeonium flowers are beautiful close up.
I'm glad you enjoyed a lovely chat with your friend. Did you manage to put the world to rights? Xx

    1. The individual aeonium flowers are very delicate looking, aren't they? It was lovely to have friend R visit. We didn't put the world to rights, though, because we have opposite views on what's wrong with the world and what needs to be done to fix things. :)

    1. It's always nice to see friend R and visit with her. The lunch was something I had planned to cook the previous week (chicken curry) and didn't, so it worked out well, as I had all the ingredients on hand. :)
