A Visit to the Vet's Clinic on Tuesday

"What do you mean I have to go to the vet's clinic?"

Dancer had his monthly arthritis medication injection scheduled for today.  The appointment was at 3:00 p.m.  I had wanted to give him his sedative at 1:30 p.m., but, a phone call reminding me of my own upcoming doctor's appointment and wanting confirmation that I would keep the appointment meant I was otherwise occupied at 1:30 p.m.  So, he received his sedative at 1:45 p.m., instead.

"I don't want to be in here, Mummy!"

Oh, he was not happy to be put into his carrier.

"I'm giving you the side eye"

He protested a bit on the ride to the clinic and he panted and drooled, but, we made it to the clinic without any drama, for which I was very grateful!  I'm sure the clinic staff were also happy, not to be told he needed to be cleaned up before being taken in!

At the clinic:  "I'm not going to look at you"

He was taken in, given his injection, and I paid the bill and made the next appointment when he'll have a thyroid panel test, as well.

"Can we go home now, please?"

He was very quiet on the way home.  After we got home and I opened the flap to the carrier, he ran to hide:

"I'm hiding (and drooling) under Mummy's desk"

After we got home, I had leftover beef teriyaki, broccoli, and rice for lunch, did a load of laundry (my bed sheets) and remade my bed.  The new grocery ads arrived in the mail and I checked them out; I don't need a lot of groceries, but, daughter's coffee is on sale, again!  Dinner was leftover ham and mashed potatoes with green peas.  Dancer had some tuna and I think I've been forgiven for the trauma of being sedated, put into a carrier, and taken to the vet's!

Today, I am grateful for:
- Vet care for Dancer
- Dancer had a smoother car ride to the vet clinic than on many previous visits
- A safe drive to the clinic and back
- A lovely, warm (high of 85F), sunny day
- Working appliances

Today's joyful activity include watching some videos online.

Plans for Wednesday include:
- M coming to tend to the garden
- Friend R coming over to pick up some of her packages that were delivered to my address
- Preparing lunch for her (rice and curries)
- Doing more laundry
- Some paperwork and filing

How was your Tuesday?  What are your plans for Wednesday?

  1. Cats don't like going to the vet, this is certain. It sounds as if he did well. He is a beautiful cat. In fact, I think you both did well. :)

    1. Thank you, Linda. He really doesn't like being put in his carrier and he hates car rides. The sedative helps. He is getting on in years and I hate having to subject him to monthly vet visits, but, it can't be helped.

  2. Poor Dancer - please pass on gentle scritches. He is lucky to have you.
Maybe you should track how often Daughter's coffee goes on sale. It's been a brilliant price, if I remember, so perhaps it's worth knowing how much to buy at each sale to last to the next one.

    1. Gentle scritches have been passed on, Lyssa, and he says, "Thank meow".
The coffee does go on sale on a fairly regular basis at this grocery store. But, the price of coffee has steadily increased and, given the supply issues and tariffs on imported items, we have no guarantee that it will go on sale at the current sale price, the next time it goes on sale. When the sale price jumped from $6.99/12 oz. to $7.49, I baulked at buying it, but, the next time it went on sale, it had already jumped up to $7.99! It's still at that price, which, when you consider everything, is a bargain (I was fully expecting it to go up to $8.49).

  3. Is it hard getting Dancer into the carrier? Or does the sedative help with that? I always had a hard time getting our cats into the carrier, especially Lucky. It would take about 30 minutes of effort.

    1. He used to fight being put into the carrier, but, these days, he tends to go in without much of a fuss. And then he cries. The sedative does help.

  4. I am glad all is forgiven now, even though he probably thinks you have a treacherous streak in you.
Nice that your daughters coffee is on sale again. I keep a ridiculious stash of coffee because I NEED my morning coffee.

    1. Thank you, Anne; yes, he does eye me rather warily for a couple of days after such visits to the vet's!
My daughter, too, needs her morning coffee and her evening cup, too, unless I offer to make her tea in the evening, when she's home. Which reminds me, I might have to buy more tea to add to what I already have! :D

  6. I'm glad it was a relatively uneventful visit to the vet, (but I know that the whole post was just a pretext to post a photo of your basket of homegrown citrus for me to see! Oh yes, I know!)

  9. Poor Dancer. I hope he's now fully recovered fom his ordeal. I 'm sure the tuna will have gone some way to help the situation. Xx

    1. Drama could easily be his middle name (but, according to the pharmacy, it's Feline as they always put his name as Dancer Feline and our last name! :D)
