Sunset on Monday |
Monday was overcast and cool with a high of 68F (on Sunday, we were at 80F). We were under a wind advisory, with gusts of wind up to 40 mph expected, but, I didn't notice any strong wind in my area. What I noticed were the clouds. I took the photo above, in the early evening, when I was walking up and down my driveway and sidewalk. The sun was setting behind some dark clouds. I thought the clouds held a promise of rain, but, it didn't rain in my area (not sure if it rained somewhere else).
Monday was a relatively slow day. I walked for 20 minutes, checked on the garden (didn't water as I was hoping that there might be some rain in those clouds), took the trash cans to the curb for pick up on Tuesday morning, did some paperwork, and cleaned the fridge. I called a couple of friends to check on them and spoke with my aunt.
We are nearing the end of the month and I am struggling to meet my decluttering goals. It's not that I don't have things to declutter, it is that I am getting decision fatigue. It is one thing to say, "I'm going to declutter all the books I am not likely to re-read", but, quite another to actually pull them out of the bookshelves and put them aside to be donated. Maybe it is time to start decluttering some of the hidden items - the stuff hiding in drawers and cabinets.
On Monday, I am grateful for:
- The wind storm that didn't happen
- Being able to walk for 20 minutes without experiencing pain
- The fruit I am able to pick from the garden
- Phone chats with family and friends
- Electricity to run the appliances
Today's joyful activity was spending time in the garden.
Plans for Tuesday include: Watering the garden, more paperwork, and more decluttering.
How was your Monday? What are your plans for Tuesday?
I took a huge box of China to the new charity shop. But like you, I'm running out of steam for decluttering. I shall focus on other tasks for a bit
ReplyDeleteWell done with decluttering your china, Angela. Yes, I think I'll need to take a "rain check" on the rest of the decluttering!
DeleteThe sun shining behind the clouds is always pretty. Sorry they didn't produce any rain. I just read that we've had the driest October on record, but I've stopped watering most things because they are going into dormancy for the winter anyway.
ReplyDeleteThank you, June. I don't think we've had any measurable rainfall since May, when we had 0.66 inches of rain. Starting next month, we'll water the stone fruit trees once a week until the leaves drop. But, the orange tree needs watering twice a week while the fruits are growing.
DeleteYou are so lucky to live in a climate where you can grow all the fruits you have. I did eat the one apple that ripened this year. I should have eaten it outside in a victory stance in front of the squirrels, declaring a solitary tree victory.
ReplyDeleteToday (Tuesday) I have to get my rear in gear because my week is fuller than normal and I have a ton to get done before Thanksgiving.
Yes, I am lucky to live where I can grow my fruit trees. :) Yay for the one apple you were able to pick! That's one apple the squirrels didn't get! :D
DeleteI hope you were able to accomplish all what you wanted to do, today. The holiday season is fast approaching, isn't it? I've just scheduled the date for my almsgiving.
The clouds look very interesting with the sun peeking through. I have often avoided watering in the hope that possible rain will actually arrive. Sometimes it works out.
ReplyDeleteI think you are currently suffering from EOMDP - end of month decluttering panic!
Thank you, Bushlady. No clouds today and I had to water the back garden.
DeleteYes, that's probably what it is - EOMDP! :D
I get so nervous when it gets too windy! We have some trees that need trimming back. Glad it didn't get too bad. Glad you were able to get in a pain-free walk. The older I get, it's things like this that take on such importance!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mandy. I always worry about the eucalyptus tree in the front, but, it was trimmed in January of this year and it should be fine until next year. As for getting older, the aches and pains seem to multiply every year! :)
DeleteIt sounds like you may have run out of steam. Leave the decluttering for a while and return to it when you're feeling a little more focussed. Xx
ReplyDeleteYes, Jules. I couldn't keep up the pace. But, I made a dent and I will certainly resume it, next month.
DeleteThat's a lovely photo! Of course, if you had wanted rain, the thing to do would have been to have watered the garden (or hung washing out, or washed the car). You have done a lot of decluttering and it sounds as if it is time for a little break, otherwise the process becomes more and more difficult.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lady Ella.
DeleteOh, so that's what I need to do to get it to rain! I really should wash my car - I haven't washed it in years!
I have done a fair amount of decluttering the past couple of months, haven't I? I'm starting to see a difference. :)
I am glad you didn't have high winds. It had me wondering if that mulch is still up there on your overhang.
ReplyDeleteDecluttering is hard and I understand the decision fatigue.
Don't forget what a good job you've been doing over the last few months. You know I'm a proponent of the closet, drawer declutter regardless of whether those areas are seen by anyone but you.
When every I do an area like that I spend days walking by and opening the area up to take a look and smile :)
Thank you, Debra. Yes, the bags of mulch are still up on the overhang, holding everything down! One of these days I'm going to find a garden growing up there! :D
DeleteThis last round of decluttering was a little difficult for me. Time to get to the hidden spaces decluttering. :)
