Moderna Cookies to go with the Moderna Booster! |
Today, I got my second booster shot! I received a Moderna booster since my previous vaccine shots have all been Moderna. Based on previous experiences, I knew that one of the more immediate side effects of the vaccine will be an urge to shop so, I went prepared with a list of things I wanted to buy! LOL! Light bulbs (two types, replacement bulbs for the chandeliers and for the night lights), batteries (for the flashlight and for the TV remote), and several snacks, including Maria cookies. I was very amused to see the brand name of the cookies!
I called friend A in the early afternoon to check on her. She said her fever went down later in the evening, yesterday, and she was able to go downstairs to have her dinner. She said she felt much better, today; I was glad to hear that.
I had a productive afternoon, today. I dusted my bedroom, vacuumed the bedrooms, hallway, kitchen, and my bathroom, cleaned the litter box, sorted through a small pile of mail and filed what needed to be filed (recycled the rest), and shredded another file folder of my mother's papers. I wanted to vacuum the living room and dining area, too, and was waiting for my daughter to finish working (since she uses the dining table as her work desk), but, by the time I cleaned up some Dancer throw up from behind the sofa (had to wash the bottom part of the lace curtain, too!), I ran out of steam! By then, it was 99F outside (but a bit cooler inside the house) and my daughter told me not to get too tired because I had to go for the booster shot, as well.
I had eaten leftovers from last night's dinner for my lunch, today; daughter ate leftover milkrice and chicken curry. In the evening, I had a cheese sandwich with the cup of tea that my daughter made for me. Then, it was time to go for my booster shot!
My appointment was for 7:00 p.m. I checked in and the pharmacist asked if I could wait 10 minutes for her and I said yes. While I waited, daughter went around the store with my shopping list and picked up the items on it. I was getting my booster dose when she finished the shopping. I wasn't told to wait for 15 minutes this time so, I didn't! Instead, we paid for the shopping and came home (daughter drove us home; I drove us to the pharmacy).
Daughter had leftovers (rice, salmon, fried potatoes, etc.) for her dinner. I baked two pieces of frozen battered fish fillets and cooked some frozen green peas for my dinner and I made another bowl of fresh fruit salad (an apple, a peach, an orange, and two kiwi, plus some raw cashew pieces) for dessert:

- Health insurance to cover the costs
- Working appliances and electricity to run them
- Chats with friends
- A productive day
Glad to hear your trip to get the booster went well and that you stuck to your shopping list! Hope you don't suffer too much from any side effects.
ReplyDeleteI'm having a quiet sort of day today (Friday). I've done my piano practice and it's the nutrition class soon, and then I want to do some more work on the family tree. Just an easy steady day to enjoy. Hope you have a good day too x
Thank you, Eileen. I had a good night and so far, the only side effect is a slightly sore arm, which I was expecting, anyway.
DeleteGlad you are having a quiet, relaxed day. Is it still raining? Did the sunshine and warmth I sent your way arrive? I cleaned the kitchen a bit, in the morning, and treated us to lunch from the neighborhood Japanese restaurant (brought it home to eat). Just relaxing now. :)
Not yet but we're promised a sunny day tomorrow 😊
DeleteYay! It's 97F here, right now; we are supposed to peak at 99F today! :)
DeleteHaha - glad you came prepared for that need-to-shop side effect you are prone to :)
ReplyDelete(and how funny about those cookies with the Moderna name)
I hope your side effects are nonexistent or very slight.
I will ask you since I am unable to find the answer from googling - is this Moderna booster a 1/2 dose like the first booster was?
The fresh fruit salads you have been making look very good. I love a nice bowl of fruit. The cashews with it are a good idea.
We have a plumber coming to change a kitchen faucet that is refusing to turn all the way off. Maybe he can fix it but we have purchased a new faucet in case he can't
And also today I have a dental cleaning.
With all this interaction, I wish my 2nd booster was last week instead of tomorrow :(
It's hard to wear a mask at the dentist lol
Yes, I was fully prepared for that shopping side effect, wasn't I? :D
DeleteThank you; so far, I only have a slightly sore arm.
Yes, the 2nd booster dose for Moderna is 0.25 ml, which is the same as the previous booster dose; that's half of the two primary doses, which were 0.5 ml, each. Don't forget to take your vaccination card with you, so they can update the info. on it. :)
Some of the fruit we bought last time weren't all that flavorful and my daughter didn't much care to eat them as a single fruit. But, somehow, cutting them up and mixing them together seems to make it more palatable to her! She loves fruit salad if made with fresh fruits (she will not eat canned fruit cocktail). Adding cashews to fruit salad is an old Sri Lankan habit. :)
I hope the plumber can fix your kitchen faucet; when my kitchen faucet was dripping, the plumber said it would be better to replace the whole thing and that's what we did.
Hope the dental cleaning goes well. No, you can't wear a mask at the dentist's, but, hopefully, the dental office staff will be wearing theirs! :)
Good luck with the 2nd booster tomorrow. Make sure you drink plenty of water throughout the day, both before and after. :)
I haven't gotten another booster yet as I'm still trying to figure out the timing. I hope you don't have a reaction to this one.
ReplyDeleteYou have to wait 4 months since the 1st booster to get the 2nd one. Thank you; so far, I've a slightly sore arm, but, that's all. I hope it stays that way!
DeleteOur local medical centre is now set up for the booster jabs, but we ate still to young to get called in. Everyone in the queue looked 75+ yesterday when I called in to collect our meds...
ReplyDeleteOver here, adults 50+ are eligible to get the 2nd booster and one just books an appointment online at one of the pharmacies. I hope your turn will come sooner rather than later, Angela.
DeleteI am going to get a boosted booster also. I figure, why not?
ReplyDeleteI love the cookie name. I would have bought them just for that!
Yes, exactly, why not? The more protection, the better, I think. That's what I told one of my friends who is in her mid 70s and who travels by bus, etc., but, she seems very resistant to the idea.
DeleteI laughed when I saw the cookie name! It seemed so appropriate! :D
i didn't have that side effect with my Pfizer jabs although I could easily shop for Marie biscuits anytime, we also call them rich tea biscuits here. How could you resist buying Moderna cookies to have after your booster jab :) I didn't have to wait the fifteen minutes after my fourth jab either. I hope you don't suffer any other side effects from your jab.
ReplyDeleteHa, ha, I think this side effect is unique to me and I don't have to be the one receiving the jab to experience this side effect! I had it when my daughter got her jabs, too! :D
DeleteDaughter picked the cookies and she didn't even notice the brand name until I pointed it out to her!
Thank you, Eileen; so far, I just have a slightly sore arm. I'm quite OK with that!
I hope you have no side effects from the shot. Maria cookies are among my favorite! I've only had Goya brand for those. But I do buy la moderna bags of pasta. They are large and very cheap at only 33 cents! I get them at a Hispanic grocery. I'd have air conditioner running at that temperature! Celie
ReplyDeleteThank you, Celie; just a slightly sore arm, for now. I hope that will be it!
DeleteAs for the cookies, I usually get Gamesa brand (I no longer buy Goya brand anything, even when they are cheaper), but, my daughter picked this box and when I saw the name, I had to get it! Thank you for letting me know about the pasta! I checked my grocery store website and they are selling the La Moderna pasta at $.33 for 7 oz. bags right now (reg. price $.50); which is cheaper than store brand pasta at $1.33/16 oz.! Good to know!
I only have a window a/c unit (currently store in the garage); it gets put up in the window sometime around July and I only turn it on when the temperature inside the house soars to 100 or so. The house stays relatively cool even when it is 100+ outside. :)
Glad you have been "done" and feel ok. The fruit salad looks nice. I have had fruit custard in India and really enjoyed it. (What's Goya and why don't you eat it?)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lady Ella. It gives me one more layer of protection, I feel. Fruit custard is nice; we often add condensed milk to the fruit salad, before eating it! :D
DeleteGoya is the brand name of an American producer of foods that are sold in many Spanish speaking countries; I stopped buying their products in response to political opinions expressed by their co-owner and CEO. There are a few businesses I don't patronize for one reason or another; I realize that I am privileged to be able to do so. :)
Good for you. Small actions matter. There are a couple of companies I avoid too, because of their principles (or lack thereof). Sorry, wasn't being nosy.
DeleteThank you, Lady Ella. Me buying or not buying a company's products or patronizing a business isn't going to make or break it (I don't spend enough to make that much of a difference), but, it's important to me to act on my own principles to the extent that I can. Having said that, I don't go researching every business or company I might use, but, if it is brought to my attention, then, I will do something about it, if I can. :)
DeleteI stopped buying Goya also, but eventually gave in on Maria's because no one here sells any other brand of those! Your pasta sale price is the regular here. Celie
ReplyDeleteMaria cookies are certainly a tasty reason for purchasing their products, Celie. :) I find it very interesting to compare food prices!
DeleteSounds like a really productive day! I haven't got my second booster yet. I only just heard we needed one! I think I'm going to do some reading up on it. I'm not sure how the immunity is after the first booster. I wonder how often we will have to have one. Hope you have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt was a good day! I wanted to get some cleaning done before I went for the booster shot, just in case I developed some side effects and couldn't do much. Yes, definitely read up on the need for a second booster. I am fully anticipating needing to take another booster by Fall, but, that's just me! :)
DeleteWhat a good excuse to do some shopping! You had a busy day. Too bad that Dancer threw up and made extra work for you, but that's cats for you. The fruit salad looks delicious.
ReplyDeleteI had a scam phone call today and the caller seemed to have trouble answering some perfectly reasonable questions that I asked. An hour later I had an identical call from another person and informed him that I had already spoken with his colleague. I asked all my irritating questions again which must have caused some frustration as the call suddenly ended! I just hope no one falls for their nonsense.
It was a good excuse, wasn't it? :D
DeleteI wanted to get some cleaning done before I had my booster, just in case I had side effects and couldn't do much for a few days. :)
Good for you, outsmarting those scam callers! I've got to the point where, unless I recognize the number calling me, I don't answer the phone. They can leave a message! Very often, it is a recording asking me to press a number to speak to a rep!
Hey, wait a minute, one of your side effects was supposed to be you shopping not your daughter. LOL Moderna cookies? How funny. Were they good? Probably not as good as the homemade chocolate chip cookies. I can't believe you were at 99 degrees. That is hot! Doesn't CA know it's only early April? Hope you have no side effects from your booster. Well maybe more shopping. LOL Have a nice weekend. Denise
ReplyDeleteHa, ha, she walked around and picked up the items on my list! I did shop for the light bulbs, myself, and looked at flashlights while I was waiting for the pharmacist to administer the dose to me. I haven't tried the Moderna brand cookies, yet! The chocolate chip cookies were great!
DeleteYes, 99F today, too. But, we'll cool down over the weekend, they say. Monday's high will be only 68F according to the forecast. So far, so good - only a slightly sore arm from the booster. Thank you, Denise; hope you, too, will have a good weekend. :)
