Sunny on Wednesday

Dancer Checks Out the Christmas Tree

It was a sunny day, today.  In the morning, the temperature was 36F at M's house, which is a couple of miles from my house and he said there was frost on the roofs in his neighborhood.  It was a little warmer by the time I woke up, but, it was still crisp and cold.  Our high today was 55F.

M was able to fix the cover on top of the vent pipe, this morning, but, he found that there was a hole in the pipe, itself.  I might have to replace that pipe - I'll add it to that ever growing list of home repairs I have to do!

I finished crocheting the blanket, today, and washed and dried it.  Then, I hung up the wreaths and did a bit of decorating.  I didn't put the Winter Village up, yet, though.  I need to clear off the counter on the pass through between the kitchen and the family room to set up the Village, there.  The house is looking very messy, again, with the bins of holiday decorations out and piles of gifts waiting to be wrapped, etc.  I discovered that I didn't have as many medium sized gift bags as I had thought and had to order a few, as well as more tissue paper!  They should be delivered on Friday, along with a gift that I ordered.

Later, in the evening, I cooked a dhal (lentils) curry and curried green beans to go with leftover rice and chicken curry from yesterday for our dinner.  After dinner, I put away the leftovers, did the dishes, cleaned the litter box, etc., and chatted a bit with friend R.

Today, I am grateful for:

- A sunny day to dry out from the rain
- M tending to the garden and fixing the vent cover
- I was able to finish crocheting the blanket in good time
- Being able to order gift wrapping supplies online and having them delivered
- Cards arriving in the mail, each bearing a holiday wish from a friend or family member.

Today's joyful activity was finishing the blanket!

Plans for tomorrow include tidying the house and writing cards!

How was your Wednesday?  What are your plans for Thursday?

  1. Glad you got the blanket finished. That's one thing ticked off your list!

I'm having a quiet day at home. My car has been collected for the MOT and I'm just pottering about doing bits and pieces. I'll be packing up some parcels later on ready to take to the post office tomorrow ... a couple more sales from the decluttering.

    1. Thank you, Eileen. Yes, that's one big project completed! All safely wrapped up and bagged; only need to write a card.

I hope your car gets through the MOT without any problem. Well done on all your decluttering!

  2. Let's see. Dhal curry, chicken curry, and curried green beans. I get the idea you like curry. :)

    1. Whatever would give you that idea, June? LOL.

A meal of rice and curries is just that - rice served with an assortment of curries. :)

  3. That's good you finished crocheting your blanket. What a shame there is a hole in the pipe it sounds like something that needs to be replaced soon not that I know exactly what it is. There's always something that needs doing around the house I find too.

    1. I'm happy that I was able to finish the blanket in time! I didn't realize just how time consuming it would be! Yes, the vent pipe is probably something that will need patching or replacing. It is meant to vent the water heater (boiler?), which is outside (for earthquake safety). A hole in the pipe will allow water to drip down into the water heater where it can put out the gas flame that heats the water). I've a list of things that need doing around the house - maintenance type things. Next year is when I plan to start on that list! Oh, the joys of home ownership! :D

  4. I'm glad the blanket is all finished and washed ready for wrapping. I have to pick up more tissue paper, too. I did get a lot of gifts wrapped but still have some to do and one or two still to pick up. The temperature here is 59°F - most unusual for the time of year! We registered for our booster Covid dose and just have to wait now for appointments.

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. I found enough tissue paper in my stash and a large enough bag for it, so that's taken care of! Just have to write a card. I want to explain what the blanket is supposed to represent. :)

It sounds like you were warmer up there than we were down here, today! :D I hope you get your booster appointment soon. :)

  5. It hit 63F here yesterday, then overnight a strong storm came through. High winds knocked out the power. It just came back on, almost 20 hrs out, and temps falling to 19F tonight. Such a relief it is on. But 36 is cold for you! Bundle up and stay warm. Heating is wonderful. Best, Celie

    1. I heard on the news that there were rare December tornadoes in the Midwest! Including Wisconsin! I'm sorry your power went out - that's a long time for it to be out, especially when it is cold! I hope you were able to keep warm and there was no storm damage to your property. Thank you, Celie; I am staying bundled up and the heater is on! :)

    1. Thank you; Dancer loves his Christmas tree! He has tried to eat the needles and has thrown up, twice, now! He usually learns not to eat the tree after the first few days! :D

    1. Thank you, Jules; it never ends when you have a house, does it? At times like these, I still wish I was renting and could call on the landlord to take care of repairs! LOL.
