Monday's Productivity

Phone Pouch with Strap

Today, I went for my hydration and injection in the morning.  I brought up the subject of the heartburn I have been experiencing.  My normal food tends to be rather spicy, but I've stopped eating spicy food.  However, even the mild food I've been eating have triggered heartburn.  I've changed my eating patterns, eating the heavier meals in the morning or early afternoon, and lighter meals in the evening, but even so, the heartburn comes on at night.  I prop myself on pillows to the point where I am practically sleeping sitting upright, and still the heartburn has persisted.  I'm taking calcium supplements and that's supposed to help, but I still have heartburn.  So, finally, today, the doctor prescribed medication.  My friend's daughter will run to the pharmacy for me to pick up the medication, tomorrow.

In the afternoon, I dropped daughter off at the airport as she went back to Berkeley.  After I came back, I took a nap.  Later, I took the trash cans to the curb for pick up, tomorrow.

Still later, I took some leftover yarn and crocheted a strap for my phone case, which transformed it into a pouch I could hang from my neck or wear across my body.  Now, as long as I remember to wear it this way, the phone will be available for me to call at anytime, should I need to.   Of course, I'd need to attach my eye glasses to the strap as well, because I need my glasses in order to see to use the phone!  LOL.  I can see myself needing to make a bigger pouch, big enough for both glasses and phone!

And, if I may, I'd like to share a picture of a couple of Christmas gifts that daughter made from polymer clay - two pendents and a pair of earrings:
Pendants and Earrings

Today, I am grateful for:

- Daughter had a safe flight back
- Friend's daughter will run to the pharmacy for me
- Help for the heartburn
- Feeling better
- Warmer days

How was your Monday?

  2. The pendants and earrings made by your daughter are beautiful, as is the phone wallet you made! What a clever idea to attach a strap to it! :)
I hope your heartburn goes away soon. I remember experiencing terrible heartburn (while pregnant) to the point that the doc prescribed something for it. I always felt that it was worse at night and I had to sleep in an upright position, which I found extremely uncomfortable. If I can recall anything that helped me deal with it, besides the medication, I will let you know if I think of anything.
Bless, I know I've said this before, but I really do love how you list the things you are grateful for each day. You are an amazing lady! :)

    1. Thank you, Dawn. The prescription wasn't covered by insurance, so my friend's daughter just picked up some extra strength OTC antacid pills. I am going to talk to the dr., again, tomorrow. I find that listing things to be grateful for is helpful to me - a reminder that, no matter what, there is something each day that we can be grateful for. It sort of redeems the day, I think.

  3. Love the phone case, and how smart to add the long chain to put around your neck.. I so understand ,"having to have the glasses to use the phone"..My eyes are the same.. yuck..
The necklace/ear rings that daughter made are lovely. Will be such nice Christmas gifts.
So sorry the insurance company didn't cover your med. Talk with your doctor, he might can swap up to a different one, that they will cover..
Proud your feeling better today, and daughter had a safe flight back.
    Take care of yourself..Praying.

    1. Thank you, Judy. Daughter says I should make a carry case for the home phone (bigger buttons). I will be talking to the doctor, tomorrow, to discuss a new medicine. In the meantime, I am being very careful about what I am eating and I've a big bottle of antacid pill should I need them.

  4. I do hope you can get some relief from the heartburn. It must be hard to eat bland food when you have been raised on good spicy nourishment! What a good idea to add a strap to your phone pouch. I love your daughter's jewellery. It reminded me of the musical people I know that would enjoy wearing something like that.
    Take care.

    1. Bushlady, eating blander food is a bit of an adjustment for me. But I've found that I can eat a little bit of spice (not as hot as usual), provided I do so in the earlier part of the day. Like most things, it's an attitude adjustment - I just needed to realize that I had to replace chicken curry with roast or broiled chicken for dinner (and the appropriate sides), that's all. :)
